    This is a taste of what the future is bringing our way. And the bike is stunning to ride on the city and surrounding areas. The futuristic design is a smart move from BMW.
    It’s impossible to tour with it but the concept will evolve to that, certainly.
    This video is food for thoughts ✌️✌️

    I’ve been riding motorbikes for over twenty-five years and I’ve always secretly wanted a Vespa. When they come out with something that can do 75mph, go two hundred miles on a charge and have that classic Vespa - Lamberta look, I’ll pull the trigger.

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  2 года назад +2

      👍 That is good to hear. An experienced rider interested in the electric scooters! I like that. I agree the classic looks of the Vespa mixed with electric power is a brilliant combo. Vespa already do an electric Scooter but pretty sure is doesn't do 75mph and two hundred miles!!
      It might be a long wait! Cheers

      I just got one of these it’s a blast to ride, best thing to say about it is not to compare it to a motorcycle because it’s nothing like it , it’s great upright and getting through traffic and basically getting across town but it doesn’t handle anything like a bike , it’s dna is 💯 scooter 🛵 electric just makes it faster and obviously less running costs but trust me you’re not gonna get 80 miles out of it on a single charge unless you’re in eco mode and ride it slowly

    I have just ordered one. As an electric car driver I like the simplicity and tech-orientation of electric vehicles. I regularly make calls / listen to podcasts whilst riding and the relative quiet will help in this respect. I am concerned about the lack of weather protection, however, I guess I will commute in my car on bad weather days. I am keen to understand how hard it is to steal (i.e. can it easily be started and driven away / will professional thieves be interested in it - or is it too niche) as I will otherwise be wary about parking it in a bay in London.
    You recently reviewed the X-ADV. How would you compare this to the CE 04 from a ride performance perspective, as a commuter scooter?

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  2 года назад

      Hi Richard, I agree I did very much like the simplicity and serenity of it. I was surprised at how much I liked it.
      I am sure you will be very pleased with your order, it is a premium feeling scooter. I would say the CE 04 is better for in city commuting, just so smooth and great power response!!!
      However for on faster roads and out of the city I would go for the Honda 👍

    For city commuting, great. For exploring, out for a bimble, off to Plymouth for a coffee, then back a different way, impossible. Three hour charging versus a 5 minute fill up. There's room for both I think.

      Yeah, it's sometimes bad enough biking as it is with smallish tanks. EVs coming along with even less range and a bad infrastructure is a massive "nope" from me.
      Look into the lack of consideration motorcycles are getting re. EV infrastructure and legislation and is will temper any enthusiasm sharply.

    Only problem i had was people walking out into the road, Car doors opening or in my case a van reversing over me 😒 as there is no noise at all. Got around 70-80 miles a charge and 4 hours to charge 2 batteries which isn't bad. @gritred5500 2 года назад +2

    For around town I would think this is a novelty. That range is just not enough when you think a battery would have to be completely discharged to get that 80 miles. of range! for a 110mile range you might be at 30% in 80 miles saving the life of the battery for many almost double the number of charge cycles. but also if you charge up to 75 or 80% the battery would last double (that is the second requirement) so, really, for longevity the 75 to 80% down to 30 to 40% gives you a range of much less. (a daily trek of 20 miles each way and a trip to the store after work is what you would get) and if you forget to charge one time you have a bad day LATE for work probably. This is why a much higher range is best practice and this is really a mediocre product as most use cases go. Im hapoy with my toy for transport most trips….my electric unicycle gets 110 miles range at 25mph and I use it daily and it cost $3000. waiting for a scooter with more range than 80 miles maximum. 150 miles of range might be acceptable?

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  2 года назад

      Yes I suppose it all depends on individual circumstances, commuting distance etc... I cannot say for sure because I have never owned electric, but 80 miles in the city for me would be more than enough!
      However I see where you are coming from, that is 80miles down to ZERO!! Which really you don't want to make it down to zero charge!

    Whilst they are definitely the future, while the infrastructure is so bad (especially for bikes - they are receiving little-to-no consideration whatsoever from most governmental and regulation making organisations) and while they are so expensive (I suppose that's always the way for BMW, but it seems quite general for decent EVs), and while the environmental advantages, overall, are actually so marginal and debatable, I will not be tempted.
    I know it's a chicken-egg thing, but I think it will be many years that people will suffer in many ways to own one.
    Also, personally, I don't ride as a 'vehicle' anymore, I ride for entertainment, so I want something characterful and interesting. If I wanted smooth and soulless I wouldn't own a Speedmaster ;^)

    THIRTEEN???? THOUSAND????? POUNDS????????
    Look, I'm a Biker (a fair weather one) and I also own a petrol car and a Nissan Leaf.
    There's simply no way I could justify the money on this, not when a perfect used LEAF is available for half that money.
    HOWEVER... I know, via LEAF ownership, that it's the way forward, and this is the Tesla of the Bike world.
    For me I find it hard to look beyond the Electric Vespa as a City commuter OR... wait for it.... an Electric Bicycle (I have one of those as well).
    I've seen this bike in France, Bordeaux, and in my eyes, it's pig ugly. To me I prefer my Scoots classic looking.
    It's a matter of taste as usual, but 13 Grand? jesus HC.

      I know, it is very expensive! Especially for a scooter! It does feel very premium though, everything is top quality BMW spec, but yes too expensive. I guess once the technology has been around a bit longer the price may come down, or BMW may lower it if no one buys the bike!
      You have a fine fleet sir 👍 No that sounds very interesting (electric Vespa!)

    So the regenerative feature essentially stops the bike without the safety of a brake light? Anyone else see a problem with that? London, NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles. There are enough idiot distracted drivers out there to begin with and now we're not showing them a brake light? Brilliant. 😮

      To be honest the brake light may actually come on if the regenerative braking is too strong

      I have a CE 04 and can say that the rear brake lights are activated during regen.

      All be it a car but my Tesla does exactly the same! Break light activates soon as you come off the power and regen kicks in!

    13k… yet you can get an e-scooter for 2k which is smaller, lighter and faster.. more nimble.
    This is a joke thing right, looks old for modern tech

      It is definitely very pricey! Not sure I can agree with you on it looking old though! Cheers
