    Finally, I hear it from a doctor. I eat a high protein diet eating a lot of lean beef to get my creatine from a natural source. My creatinin serum reading runs high even with all my other kidney markers reading healthy. I had a renal artery scan to check for any problems and came back clean. I read online that creatinine levels read high with a high protein diet for a person with more muscle. They fluctuated between 1.2 to 1.4 consistently for years. This guy wouldn't stop bothering me even after I told him I was focused on high protein and creatine from natural sources. Why can't more doctors learn about weight trained individuals eating a high protein diet from sources high in creatine.

    Did comment on the first video already, but from the perspective of someone with a shoulder injury who cannot do low-bar squats for while and doesn't like high-bar squatting that much, it would be interesting to hear why and how you use SSB squats in your training and to what degree it can replace squatting with a straight bar.

      You don't improve performance with creatine supplementation

    • @backfru
      @backfru 6 лет назад +6

      but how can you tell if its the creatine improving performance, or just improving regular training progression/technique etc?

    • @Huntraain
      @Huntraain 6 лет назад +1

      If you’ve been training seriously for long enough, you begin to notice even small differences in your training when certain variables change. Because a novice can gain muscle and strength despite poor sleep, diet, training, etc., this effect may not be noticeable. This however, is not true for intermediates or even late novices. For example, if you are eating well at a surplus, sleeping 7-8 hours per night, and have ran a 5x5 program for an extended period of time (until the weights almost become too heavy to recover from in 2-3 days), then you will notice a difference. Instead of your last couple of sets feeling like an RPE 9-9.5, they would instead be a 8.5-9. If your sleep, diet, and training doesn’t change, and you don’t experience this effect while loaded on creatine, then you probably are a non-responder.

    Where did you get that neck brace for the squat???

    • @PinataOblongata
      @PinataOblongata 6 лет назад

      It's not a neck brace, it's a different type of bar, variously called a "sissy bar", "cambered bar" and "safety bar". Often used by people with hurt shoulders (or poor shoulder mobility) and also used as an accessory for the squat, as it's very close to one but shifts the weight a bit and makes you move a little differently, creating a different stimulus.

    If I may, I have a question about your form on the squat (~4:30). You bend forward a lot as you decent. Shouldn't high bar squats be performed with a more vertical torso? I see you struggling at the bottom and, no wonder!, the amount of weight is insane.

    Epic lifts! And I think creatine is pointless for the general population trying to get healthier (the people I work with most), but for anyone competing it's smart to take year round.

    • @Vel1ar
      @Vel1ar 6 лет назад +3

      Thinkin' right opposite. Let's be honest: most of the seriously competing people are on some kind of gear which makes taking creatine useless. On the other hand those who just train consistently & hard might benefit from taking creatine. Especially vegeterians & vegans.

    • @GabeJohansson
      @GabeJohansson 6 лет назад +3

      I have no doubts of the benefits of creatine, but it's totally not necessary for the vast majority of people (who just want to look a bit better), but I'm realizing that probably doesn't apply to the people watching this channel lol

    • @BarbellMedicine
      @BarbellMedicine  6 лет назад +18

      I think the benefits of creatine extend beyond strength improvements (which would be very important for the gen pop) and given its safety profile, I couldn't disagree more with you, Gabe.
