Like the movement, bracelet and the case looks well finished. Unfortunately, size, weight plus blue a. r. are two many negatives. Regards and Happy New Year to all.
John and subscribers, do you think this could have worked better if it didn't have a Ranger style of hands and dial? That, plus the Omega style bracelet and everything else Seiko was way too many themes in one watch. Happy New Year. Third time to review this was a charm, John. 😊
as a quartz guy, i love this watch. the movement beats the NH in accuracy and ruggednes. we wear 42mm seiko 5s with misaligned bezels, why the double standard with this addies? divers badge without iso? who cares if it can go 200 meters. do we actually dive to need an iso certification as if our lives under water depends on it? eclectic design cue? ive seen people mod their skx to have this explorer dial. i think this is one of the best ali watch of 2023!
I totally agree with you. I'm just imagine this watch in 38mm "Acurate" bezel diameter and 44mm lug to Lug; all Brushed or maybe Sandblasted finish and Keeping the 20mm bracelet. With the same VH31. but have you noticed how polished hands have that tendency to disappear over a black dial? Yeah? Let's put Brushed hands keeping the "Orange " tip on the seconds pointer 😁👌✨️ Thanks for the nice review
John, a great video as always. I bought the watch going on one of your community posts on YT and with a voucher from Simon (from WTT channel), I got a 58-pound price delivered. Having said that, I understand the frustration. My first watch bought from Ali was the Seestern 62-MAS, loved it. But after the initial shock, I grew to like very much this watch. I wear 34 to 43 mm watches, as long as I find them in my taste (I own some Invictas, but only the 40 mm pro diver ones). I guess I'm in the group that's gonna enjoy this watch. Agree that the bezel was a little misaligned, so I popped off the crystal and detached and reattached the bezel insert and all is good now (That's why I've killed many a Seiko's, hate their QC issues). Funny enough, I never took a measure of the crystal in case I think of changing it for something less reflective, but for now I kind of enjoy the Blue AR and the reflex being that the dial is a matte black dial, it gives it something of a pop. Best regards, and again thanks, I do enjoy the watch, and you're the culprit, haha
Hi Jorgeo. So glad you got a great deal and that you like the watch. This is the first Addiesdive I haven't liked, but that's what makes us all different :). Thanks for the comment.
I like the Dial and hands. Gives me Tudor Ranger vibes, but actually better because of applied hour markers instead of printed. But the rotating bezel and crystal I find don’t go well with this design. Remove that bezel for a fixed model and change the crystal for a proper double AR coated sapphire crystal and this is a solid field style watch
Hi,John. If that would have been 39mm,I wouldn't be interested.Yes,I agree the coating is too much and the case is a scratch magnet.I would prefer to have,at least,a date in the dial,three,four/thirty,six,doesn't matter to me,as long as is proportional to the indices and visible.I like it.Thank you for one more great review and wish you a Happy New Year and good health.
42mm is a good size for my wrist, the 36mm VH31 powered models Addiesdive released are too small. I wish they'd replace the "Diver's 200m" with only "200m" and the hands for Tudor-esque snowflake hands, it'd make for quite a cool looking piece.
My AD2033 has steel barb sharp like razor on the bracelet. I have removed it. But i have really scared. It is a miracle i do not have injury. Bottom part of bezel have sharp edge too, but it is almost acceptable. It is first (but i hope not last, because it is my favorite and needful params for watches) symmetric quartz divers with sapphire glass and bracelet on ali, afaik.
I like the watch, but it has some negatives that would make me pass on it. I think having the ranger dial and hands on a diver is a cool look; it's a new take on a classic watch. But that thickness is completely unnecessary. 13+ thick on a quartz diver? Totally agree that the blue ar interferes with the actual dial color, clear ar would've been much better. I also agree with other commenters on the bracelet, it doesn't seem a good match. But I do like that they put a good amount of taper in it. Maybe they'll make some needed changes for V2. Thanks for the review!
OK is my best verdict. The quality/price ratio of Ali watches is often high and for £70 or so can we expect more? For what we are paying the quality in general and the condition any watch arrives remains a lottery. I don't think any Ali brand has nailed QC yet. It's surprising how good many are. The size of this one is against trend but several years ago 42 was more the norm. For history nerds there was a dive watch made by Precista issued to the RN for several years with snake or d**k head hands.
It’s trying to do too many things at once I think. It’s a great value, but I will pay more for better specs. Eh. You win some, and you lose some. Thanks for the great review!
A quick thought: if theres anyone who likes this watch for its size and versatility: would you like it with vintage looking Seiko (or even Grand Seiko) dial and hands? Might work better?
Can't help thinking Addiesdive are phoning this one in. If someone wanted a big cheap Dive style watch but didn't particularly care about the details as it was going to be a beater or they were'n't that into watches (It's true! I heard such people exist). I"m sure it will be completely adequate and tick most of the boxes on paper, but I just think it lacks a little of the personality that makes you think "wow! I paid this little money for this amount of watch" when normally receiving addiesdive or steel dive watches. cheers!
Good review, I'm impressed you finished it considering the watch appears ill fated and you don't like it. I think I would have given it to someone I really didn't like! I have one watch with blue AR coating and I don't like it, that one looks terrible, better no AR than that. I also agree, Diver's on the dial is a deal breaker if not certified, just like chronometer, it lets the watch down and is only one step above fake branding 🤮
Hi buddy. It's a really strange one this from Addiesdive. Very uncharacteristic given their recent form. Even though I don't like it personally, it ended up with as many good points as bad points so it's down to personal taste 🤗
A diver based on a Ranger dial and handset? The whole thing being too large and with polished smudge magnet case side? Nah, come on! It's a lazy cash grab! 😆

thanks Francis. I appreciate your point of view :)
@@johnswatchjointI agree with everything Francis said. Hopefully Addiesdive takes this advice to heart for future releases!
Cheers Dan.

I actually love this design. The only deal-breaker for me is the big size. If it was max 40mm I'd definitely buy it

A little too large but I like the dial and hands; at least they haven't used those ugly 💩 Square Tudor hands.

Hi buddy. Seasons Greetings to you also. Thanks for your take... Always good to hear someone else's opinion :)
@@johnswatchjoint My pleasure!...
I don't have a VH31 watch yet but looking. Question is, with the size of the movement, why are these watch so thick.
I agree. No need for it :)
I like quartz because a watch can be thinner but thats just unnecessary thick
I'd buy it BECAUSE of the size. Big for you but on an 8 inch wrist, perfect. I'd overlook the bad stuff.
Yep... As I said someone with larger wrists would probably like it... Looks too big on me :)

There are no sharp edges on this one. You should have sent it back.

The case is something they will likely use with an automatic movement, hence the thickness.
Wish I had seen this before I had just ordered one…

I like big watch and the ar coating is fine.
The divers 200m is a no no.😊
I bought their retro dicer with NnH 35. and am quite happy with it. Cant win then all..
Absolutely not. Sometimes you have to make mistakes before you can move forward :)

@@johnswatchjoint Thanks again champion, for persevering to bring us this review. It's been a mountain to climb. 😉
This one really has been troublesome but I got there in the end haha!
Make it 38mm and it would be perfect. But I say that about every watch 😂
Just so I'm sure this IS an iso6425 rated watch? You didn't quite mention it in the video 😂
No it is definitely Not haha!
