Perhaps you should invite the CEO of Addiesdive for an interview on your channel, and then follow this up with a visit to their manufacturing facility. That would be enlightening.
Such an amazing option! CwC, Omega, Certina....all in one affordable watch with Sapphire domed crystal, BGW9 and no scratchy polished surface in sight ! Thanks for pointing out
Addiesdive gets it. That 100 USD price point to me is a staple of Alix watches. Seestern, Cronos and San Martin prices are making me look at other brands at their price points, while I can always pick up an Addiesdive with no hint of buyer's remorse.
Great video James, I love this style of diver as well, and it's why I've been obsessing over the Peter Blake big triangle Seamasters from the 90s and 00s 😅 which myself and many others see as Omega's modern(ish) reinterpretations of their MOD Seamasters, that this AddiesDive is homaging. Have a good day and thank you for all the videos!
Excellent review of an ace watch. I bought one in the last major AliExpress sale for $43.94. It was meant to be $79 according to the site, but when I went to the checkout this was the total that appeared. During the recent small sale I saw that the watch was priced at $108 and wondered what the checkout price would be. Answer, zero, after a bonus allocation (?) the total was nothing, so I pressed checkout and it arrived this morning. I now have one of these watches on a NATO and the other on the supplied steel bracelet. A wonderful watch, comfortable to wear and I would recommend it.
Probably one of Addiesdive’s best watches. Watchdives has a version also. It costs a little more, but I think it’s worth the money. And it has female end links. This one is awesome also.
If your that anxious to pay $110.00, For a dive watch , buy a Invicta quartz Pro diver for $49.00. I have owned mine for three years. It looks great and runs great.
I do agree with your suggestion of having the nh38a. Having a ghost date isn't a huge negative for me, but in this scenario, the nh38a would've been a better choice.
I pretty certain that the case has been borrowed in its entirety from the AD2101 “ men business watch “ as it’s described on AE it also has the same end links but tapers to 18mm at the bracelet .
if only they could have used clear AR coating vs that blue, which I prefer not to see everytime I tilt my wrist, even hesalite would be an improvement to me. and those end links booger it up as well. as always brilliant review sir
Good review, I really like this model, love the hands, so much nicer than snowflake/Mercedes and particularly modern Seamaster hands! The nh35 is pretty much the only auto movement anyone needs, so cheap to replace you can forget servicing, easily regulated to a couple of seconds a day and about as tough as any mechanical movement 👍. The only reason to upgrade to Miyota 9000 is if the watch needs to be slimmer.
This is $100 because: They stole the dial and bezel insert design from the Omega 165.024 (the 12,3,6,9 version) They stole the case and bezel from the Vaer D4 & D5 divers (which are homages to begin with). Many AliExpress brands have stolen this case design. They don’t spend much money on design, marketing, distribution, customer service, or labor. They own/rent little to no physical assets, like service centers or warehouses. They don’t do brick and mortar distribution. Online only. They use a high percentage of off the shelf parts, and materials like ceramic and sapphire aren’t as expensive as people think. Machines do most of the work. Anything else?
To OP, Keep riding the Swiss manufacturers dick 😂 🍆🍆 even though it's 2024, and we now know swiss watch companies have been overcharging us for decades!!! So yes, keep talking poorly about companies like Addisdive, who strive to provide great quality at dirt cheap prices
It should be noted that Addiesdive offers several different bezel & dial options with this same exact case: AD2058, 2060, 2101, 2105, & MY-H9. The 2058 looks particularly nice with a Bakelite style insert.
Someone else mentioned that. I have added a second link that is definitely the price I’m talking about. Otherwise this one is $165aud. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mOHPuYk
Nice looking Omega homage. Almost too nice. Shame I don’t feel safe with my beautiful expensive looking banger watches in public these days. I’m not going to get jacked over a $100 homage 🙁☠️🙁
Low cost manufacturing, low cost marketing and sales and no own designs but cloning established brands. Still, they are surprisingly good value for the money, but it's still a little questionable to only copy others.
Have a AD on my wrist that is a cousin to this. Same bezel (dif insert) and i think the same case. Different sapphire (mines more domed for very vintage). Lume is equal to my casio oceanus and citizen promaster tough. Wasn't a fan of the bracelet with the polished middle but no issue as i like to swap bands out anyway. Think it was $118aud. AD2101
I do really like both. But the 9000 series miyotas are my favorite overall movements. High beat, reliable, relatively affordable but a big reason is because they are so thin. It’s noticeable on every watch I have containing one.
Because it’s made with Chinese Type 409 Stainless steel, that will look like a lump of pig iron on your wrist within 6 months, might look nice and shiny out of the box but will deteriorate to a dull grey metal soon after, it will scratch deep and often even with only light wearing. You’re literally wasting your money buying homage watches, do yourself a favour and save up a few £100 and buy a good watch for £500 £600 it will mean so more to you that way, and a good Seiko or something might last you a lifetime.
I suspect AD and SD are the same people but yeah, i have the SD Willard and it's hard to believe it's even better value than that or my AD. Edit. True that you get more watch with the Willard homage but don't underestimate the design of that AD case. Makes a difference to the on wrist experience IMO.
No, it's more like Swiss manufacturers have been lying to us for decades!!! For example, do you know a $30,000 gold rolex has less than ~$3000 worth of gold? I predict in the near future watch manufacturers like Sam Martin will totally cannibalize low end Swiss companies like Tissots, Hamilton..etc

Apparently you have no clue as to how economies of scale and mass manufacturing work. Production via automation on a large scale, is considerably cheaper than manual labor - even child labor.
Perhaps you should invite the CEO of Addiesdive for an interview on your channel, and then follow this up with a visit to their manufacturing facility. That would be enlightening.
I would love to do things like that. I think in the future if the channel grows it might give me the opportunity to do things like that.
Your channel will grow :)
It's a specific style that does it for me too. AD and WD are really pushing just now. Nice one James
Thanks mate

Nice review & timepc.
I wouldn’t dig too deeply on how they do it as u may find out an ugly truth or 3.🙏
Thanks for WATCHing
Reviewing this exact watch myself very soon! Can't wait to get my hands on this one!
I’ve been really impressed with it. A shame the bracelet does not sit a bit better on wrist. But have loved having it on one of my leather straps.
The lume on my Addiesdives do last the night. And, they're amazing.

Nice. This style of dial/bezel combo is sometimes called a Sharkmaster.
Ahhh yes. Thank you
The overall aesthetics is amazing. With the price being as low as it is, I can excuse the negatives.
It’s amazing they can make a watch this nice at that price
To quote Mr Bean..."Magic" haha! Honestly James its crazy the amount of value in this!
It is amazing that there is still such value available at this price point.
First time i noticdd you had a Lancer in the backgrounds, fellow Gears enthusiast
I played them years ago and always liked the look of the Lancer. Just a cool thing to own.
I got it on the rubber strap… it’s nice but the coating is so blue!

stole? lmao talking like that would make one wonder why ur even on this channel to begin with
We've become used to the massive mark-up on Swiss-produced watches.
Loads of watches borrow designs for a lot more money. Seiko etc won't even give you sapphire or a decent clasp despite how little it may cost.
To OP, Keep riding the Swiss manufacturers dick 😂 🍆🍆 even though it's 2024, and we now know swiss watch companies have been overcharging us for decades!!!

Swiss? Make the Japanese have insane mark up too. F seiko@@neilgadsby3924
looks good. I think that SM & WD make the best homages
I also add to that list Baltany and Hruodland.

That’s good to know. I was not aware. cheers
The design styling of that watch is an homage to an Omega Seamaster diver circa 1950-60's.

3 days after you posted this, it is selling for $212 AUD or $140 USD....and that's from the link you posted.

Lovely watch, I just can't get away with the Addiesdive logo / branding, especially on a watch trying to give a vintage skindiver aesthetic.

So the addiesdive or the watch dive? Which one is better?
That is a good question. I’ve not had the WD version of this one. But in my experience with the brand they seem very similar
If they’d offer an aluminum insert option, I’d get one. Tired of ceramic and sapphire inserts
I am too. I tend to prefer the look and feel of the aluminium inserts.
One of my Addies dive watches also has the same sort of weird end links.
Thanks for WATCHing
If they have it with NH38, I will buy it without hesitation.
NH35 and ghost position is a big turn off for me...
It is a shame. It would be great if they had.

Definitely. Ref 165.024 (the non-big triangle version)
Yes. That’s what it appears to be what it is homaging.

Steeldive makes a sub $100 Cpt Willard which is better than any Addiesdive that I've seen, so ..
