This was the first watch where the seller contacted me to ask if everything was OK. It has been fine. I'm very pleased with it. We need to see more homages with this movement.
I could not agree with you more ! I cannot see the appeal of auto watches when the VH31 is so rugged and accurate. I really like the size and weight of this watch as well.
I agree. My first watch in september was the GS Homage, 38mm Pagani with this movement and i had to buy the Escapement Time, 40 mm, vith this clockwork. The only downside is that this sweeping hand drains the battery .Got maybe 2 years of running time.
I got my 2nd Addie, the Ad 2028, their most expensive watch, and unfortunately their is a speck of lume on the dial. I messaged them, they asked for pics which I sent, then they ghosted me. I offered to pay them to fix it. Nothing. They will only return your money if there is a problem/damage to the movement and nothing else. Beware. If there e was a problem they'd of ghosted you too I'm sure. I always raved about Addiesdive but this left me very dissappointed.
The Addiesdive Is 95% of my vintage 1968 Rolex Date which I love but seldom wear and at 1/50 of the price and no worries about damaging, scratching the plastic glass of a vintage piece or getting stolen in my city (Mexico City). It has excellent lume, water resistance for everyday activities, sapphire glass; even the VH31 has a 19800 vintage BPH vibe. BUY IT! It has become my favourite watch. The Oyster cases, especially the vintage ones are the best designed watches in the universe, whether you agree or not. Even the master watch designer Gerald Genta was quoted saying he regretted not designing them.
Great visuals and reviewing, Steve. As good case finishing as San Martin at this price point is amazing. Addiesdive did a lot at this price point, and the VH31 is great to have, too. A must-try watch.
Love this timepiece! I was about to pull the trigger to purchase the San Martin Explorer, but thankful I saw your review. I just purchased this and saved me a lot. Thank you!
Same here. I didn't think I could fork over $300-$425 for the SM. The Addie checked off most of my boxes, and for $220-$340 savings I can live w/ an Explorer 1016 homage, as opposed to an 114270 homage.
That’s one nice watch. The movement and that top hat crystal make it a must. Thanks for your videos, I enjoy watching them all. I appreciate how you always show the watches outdoors and in different straps. That’s like your signature thing 🙌🏼
The straps have always beeny thing even before the channel started...it seems to be very popular so they will always be part of the reviews. Thanks for watching!
I totally get it about the 19mm lugs width, almost no one have this bracelets/straps. But imo still not a bad choice because of proportions. I have a PD (BB36 hommage) with 37mm of diameter and a 20mm lugs width and I would have preferred 19mm because of the dimensions. So clearly not a deal breaker for me. For a 100$ watch, the finishing is amazing! Overall a great watch for the price. I love your reviews, Steve. It's always excellent 👌
I think we all want more of the VH31. such a great movement to keep the thickness in check and the cost down. it's a win-win. thanks for continuing to watch, Steve!
this video convinced me to get this watch instead of the sn0107. i was happy to discover that it has 19mm lugs since i have a bunch of straps for my vintage tudor. the vintage tudor pin position is too close to the case that it can't accomodate thicker straps. I ended up just leaving that on its original bracelet. I like the sweeping hands of a mechanical movement but since this is like the 15th watch in my watch collection. i didn't mind that its a seiko mecha quartz movement with a close to sweeping seconds hand, the quality is acceptable, and its less than 100 dollars.
Great review. I have this watch. I love this watch. I was actually looking for a Rolie 114270 homage, but the San Martin costs more than I was willing to pay. This 1016 homage is just lovely, and that VH31 sweep is gratifying.
When ever I’m considering making a watch purchase I’ll check here 1st to listen to your thoughts & see how it actually looks, especially on wrist. After watching this video & after considering the baltany cronos & watchdives versions,I opted for this.Im sure I’ll get the same satisfaction wearing this as I would wearing one of those more expensive counter parts. Thanks for another great assessment
It's a very nice watch Steve, appreciate the very honest reviews. My only negative on this is the name. DeepSeaHunter when it isn't a dive watch and only has 100m water resistance. Having said that I'd still buy it! P. S. That Cronos looks beautiful. It's on my list for when my watch budget is replenished!
With it homaging a watch from the 1960’s, 100m depth would have technically been a deep sea diver at that point in history. As such I think it fits with the watch, imho!
Absolutely delighted with mine. The micro adjust holes on my clasp were not drilled properly but I managed to open them up using a smoothing broach. I wish more watches were available at this size and weight. If they produce a version with a blue dial or with applied indices then I will be the first in the queue to buy. After buying a ridiculously inaccurate AD2112 I doubt I will ever buy another auto watch. The VH31 in this is fantastically accurate; mine is well within 0.5 secs per week.
@@gootarguy2320 It appears to be a very common problem with this model. My other Addiesdive is perfect. If you don't have a smoothing broach you could try gently opening the holes using a darning (or other stout) needle. It is an easy job and worth doing to ensure the clasp is secure. It has not spoiled the watch for me and I would happily recommend it to everyone.
Great review! I would order one in a heartbeat if t wasn’t for one thing. I genuinely don’t understand why they use blue ar on a black dial watch. It completely ruins it for me.
Probably the SN020 is a better size, but this one is pretty good too. I have same wrist size at 7.5 inches. It's quite a lot cheaper than the San Martin. High beat quartz is fine. I think I might buy this instead.
This piece ticks most of my boxes for a daily wear watch, but i'm still waiting for Seiko to make a non-chronograph meca-quartz movement with a date complication. That would make this one just about perfect.
The meca quartz bit only controls the flyback of the chrono hands, it doesn't provide the sweep second hand which I'm guessing is what you want. Plenty of seiko quartz chronos have a sweep chrono second hand and aren't meca quartz.
@@bikeman123 I wasn't talking about the hand movement at all, what i want is a NON CHRONO Meca-quartz with a DATE complication which (as far as i know) Seiko doesn't make. I already have a chrono version and like it just fine but it's not what i consider a daily watch.
Thanks for this stellar review. I was thinking. I got two watches with this movement. If i pull the crown out , does that stop the draining of the battery, if I'm not using it?
I love that this is a small quartz. I hope more companies go in this direction! I don't care for the explorer style dial. 19mm lug is a mistake on their part. Hate the coin edge screw case back too. How can I change the battery on that? Give me darker black dials. Dive style logo on a non dive watch.
Your video did it’s job! I’m not a huge fan of homage or cheap Chinese watches but this one spoke to me. It’s pretty incredible what you get all for less than $100 and I just can’t understand why the bigger watch companies (Seiko) can’t seem to offer such great specs for their entry and mid level watches. Looking forward to receiving it and if it’s as good as you make it sound, it’ll probably get quite the bit of wrist time. And I used your link so I hope my purchase went towards your affiliate numbers 👍
The default cheap watch on Ali is the willard and would be a default recommendation (I'm extremely tall with relatively big wrists so the willard fits me). A friend has gotten into watches but I've been looking for an Ali express watch that would fit his smaller wrist. This is the one I'd recommend until Addiesdive or Steeldive launches an affordable alternative to a San Martin SN004
Yeah, it's small, cheap, sweep quartz should be a good stepping stone to autos id they aren't into those (yes) Good alternative to the SN004 sounds like the thorn, looks really similar for like $130. Also I believe Corgeut/bliger/tandorio group also has one for cheap, but probably lacks in a couple areas (AR Coating, probably crap lume)
19mm is kind of a facepalm, as this is exactly the kind of watch I'd want to swap around straps. I have a couple of 18mm leathers that would probably work okay, but otherwise perlons would be the main option. I've seen these for under £40 UKP and am deciding between this or the Pagani Ranger-like with the yellow lume... and 20mm lugs.
Thanks for the review. Well, why should the bracelet not be lightweight? To say if it's cheap or not one should consider different parameters like finishing, play between the links, sharpness of the edges. How tight are the in between tolerances of the links, how sharp are the edges and the overall comfort experience wearing it. This is what matters in my opinion. Endlinks could fit a little bit better to the shape of the lugs though. You can get a Pagani Oyster for that money it will have a solid bracelet but with horrible play and sharp edges. Why do I need this if that's the turn down on having a solid braceled on a under 100 dollar watch? To me it doesn't make whole lot of sense.
hmm, guess I skipped that part. tolerances aren't any worse than say, a pagani bracelet. the clasp is small and stamped outer shell, so there is some weight. edges aren't sharp IMO.
Haha, so many watches, so little time (and money) My guess is that the Cronos is VERY good. The lume may not be great on the Addiesdive but I own a Berny "SNK" and a genuine explorer, and the lume on the Berny is superior to the Rolex one. I guess in this field, the Addiesdive is true to the original (which by the way is also in 19mm).

@@EscapeWheel the caseback writing looks better than the one in your video. Its smaller and not as deeply engraved. Also it’s just funny 😁
@@dino3162 limited edition run 😂
Looks nice. But, the small size is not to my tastes.
thanks for watching. size is definitely not for everyone. too small for me. but it's so nice I can't sell it. gifting it to my dad to replace is old Timex this weekend.
It would be great to always have different size options. For me this one is perfect but, at present, I am in the minority.
@@ccooper8785 Agreed.
Wonderful watch …. But I HATE the Mercedes pointer design
I dont like it but i dont hate it... I hate Tudor's snowflake hour designs though.
The Merc fit with it being an Explorer copy. Each to their own tho'
This NEEDS to be filled with low viscosity mineral oil.
Hmmm....I e got some. Very tempting. Would probably look awesome with the crystal. 🤔🤔
Why would you get a quartz
Why not? They have their advantages.
Accuracy and robustness are vastly superior to any auto.
Most mechanical watches will be banished to a drawer when, in less than 5 years, they require a service (that costs more than the watch did when new).
@@ccooper8785 Definitely!
Hey Steve , lol
Bahaha. Hi, agIn
@@EscapeWheel Good deal on that Phoibos 👍
@@islandterror5198 lol, too good. Sold in about 5 minutes and had multiple people asking me about it.
@@EscapeWheel lol , I'll let you know when I see it reposted for more $ as a flip haha
@@islandterror5198 lol. Didn't realize it was so desirable...but looks like they are sold out so 🤷
Wait a couple of years and you will see that the hour markers will detach one by one from the dial.
This watch model is a piece of junk.
Yeah thanks I appreciate what you do but I'm pretty much done. The watches you review or just too small.
I review what the people want! Got a suggestion, let me know. In the past month I have reviewed 40+mm down to 36mm.
With a 6.25” wrist, I’m replacing my massive divers with watches just like this that actually fit me properly.
Plenty of other channels out there for those who feel the need to over-compensate...
It's so generic looking, there are scores of watches out there that look almost identical.
I would buy if not for the Mercedes hand, pity.
