Bought one of these after watching this review. £60 delivered to the UK, took about 5 days... Seriously can't believe the quality for the price, it has me questioning the entire watch industry! It's obviously styled after the Tudor Ranger but for me is different enough (smaller and with a sunray blue dial) to make it feel like less of a copy. Simply great bang for your buck.
Three months on, ive one on order and they say its sapphire in the specs now, when you look at the quality of these chinese watches it really makes me question spending big money on the big brands i think theyre catching up fast, it reminds me of when japanese cars first came to europe and everyone laughed at them, love your content by the way.
Thanks for the great review. That’s a hell of a watch for the price. I personally would pay a little more for better specs, but everyone’s budget is different, and I’m glad this watch exists. Thanks again!
Great video as usual, great macros, I’m impressed! I keep complimenting your work but your videos have it all, they can really help you appreciate the watches. This one is fantastic, loved the dial and its color, love the second hand red tip and the applied indices. I don’t really mind the mineral crystal, I do mind the 19mm lug width but that bracelet looks like a keeper. This one goes in my wishlist. Thanks again!
Heh, I'm wearing mine right now. Same dial colorway. The Berny SNK8xx homage was my first VH31 quartz watch, but as you know it wasn't my last. Really my only quibble is the mineral crystal.
I got one too, extremely good watch , does have a few slightly sharp corners. Watch dives do a mill spec sub homage also - I got that , it’s fantastic in the metal
Thanks for the review. I've ordered this after seeing it here and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I got the Tudor homage with the dark blue metallic dial. Can't wait to get it!
I impulse bought the black dial with applied indices to scratch my latest Explorer itch and I don't have any real complaints for a watch that's well under $100. Yeah the case is sharp and the crystal is mineral but I love the shape and size, the applied indices at that price give my beloved SNK381 a run for its money, and the bracelet is solid enough that I didn't even notice the thing has 19mm lugs. I've probably worn it more than my Traska Commuter since I got it, but it did make me realize one thing: I have way too many black dial 36mm sports watches! Maybe one of these days I'll purge them all for a Black Bay 36.
Wish this was available a few months ago. I was looking for a blue dial Explorer style with applied indices under $100. Just wanted to inexpensively see if the style suited me. I ended up way under that with a Benyar at $38 and change, and while the look/style answer was a Yes, it’s too big and thick for that classic look (and it feels like a $38) watch. Even though this has Ranger style hands (which I do like), it ticks all the other boxes, and has the advantage of feeling like a more expansive watch. At this price I think I’ll just pick one up. Thanks for the review, it takes the guesswork out of the purchase!
Slightly different. SM was about half a mm smaller in diameter and a little shorter lug to lug. Really close though. Also just not as crisp as the San Martin case
@@EscapeWheel There's a new version with sapphire glass and fancier bracelet. Had to pull the trigger! - Absolute robbery at 75 bucks. Keep finding these gems , Steve!
Hey Steve, thank you for the review. It is excellent as usual. I am planning to buy the wd1970s which has the same case. Do you know any jubilee bracelet that can fit to the watch?
Absolutely they could. The new escapement time has set the bar at 10.8mm thick with the VH31. Let's see if that can be topped. Fun fact, the Hruodland F023 is the thinnest watch I have seen with the NH34 at just 12.0 mm thick. All other OEMs should be on high alert...those are the numbers they need to be shooting for.
San Martin has been selling this case for a while. In fact, they make this same watch with an NH35! It's probably one of their better selling models too. It's a solid Ranger homage.
@@EscapeWheel Their first version of that watch was 36mm. They later released the 38mm case. You can probably still find the 36mm case if you wanted it. I bought the 38mm after they started making the applied indices model. That's really what makes this watch and yes, that dial is also San Martin's. Nobody else makes this homage with applied indices. This is literally a quartz version of the same watch.
@@EscapeWheel SN0107-G-X. Noted thickness is off by what? 0.1mm? It's a San Martin 😂. With that said, at this price this is an absolute STEAL. Shame it's 36mm. Too small for me. 🥲
@@lammyjammer6670 I reviewed both 26 and 38mm versions. Diameter is off by a bit as well. Case finishing is different, the WD just isn't as "crisp" as the San Martin...still incredible value as you say, but I'm sticking to my guns that they are not the same case....but we're splitting hairs at this point.
I really like it, except the hour hand (since I heard the 'anal plug' thing 😅). At this price point, I think the VH31 is the way to go. A bit disappointed about the crystal mineral. But the finishing is great, I love the chamfers on the case and the bezel. It's always good to know you can get a great watch for 70$. Great review, as usual. Thanks Steve.
Still surprised the VH31 hasn't become more common. Best of both worlds for so cheap is hard to beat.
totally thinking the same thing, why is it so hard to find?
If they had a date version then WIS wouldn’t have to suffer another NH35 or 8125 ever again!
Battery life of 2 years is poor for Quartz.

Awesome! Glad I could help. Enjoy the watch!
What was the model number of that?
I’m intrigued. I’ve dealt with WD twice, and they’ve been great. May purchase. Good sale price
WD is one of the best when it comes to after sale service. They have been great to deal with even before I started reviewing
Good beater watch. Classy size and look. I might buy it. , does ir have ar coating?
I really like this watch. Now its available with saphire crystal as well as 5 link bracelet.
They're offering this model with sapphire now for $20 extra (as of this posting). Only the blue color is offered, but a solid deal at $90.
Yes indeed. A worthy upgrade for those wanting it

Is it easy to open the case to replace the battery without being a watchmaker? I mean if you can open it with the rubber ball thanks
Mineral crystal? Why didn’t they follow suit with other companies that use sapphire?
Actually I'm pretty cure this is a San martin case that they have branded for them selves and put the quartz in.
Slightly different. SM was about half a mm smaller in diameter and a little shorter lug to lug. Really close though. Also just not as crisp as the San Martin case
Very nice watch and great price. I will look at the "Tudor hands" homage, since I got a Pagani homage of this ranger
Great watch. I am getting the black one.
I’m keeping my eye on watchdives now. They seem to have some great San Martin options
They really do. They also gather feedback about releases before production over on Reddit r/Chinesewatches.
Fabulous find, Steve!
Thanks man!

Sorry, I don't. I'd say most hollow endlinks jubilee should fit, or be made to fit.
@@EscapeWheel Thank you for the suggestion. Any chance reviewing wd1970s in near future or it is not necessary since the only difference is the dial?
@@BassJournal yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Same everything except dial and hands.
I think they could make this even more thin with the quartz movement inside.

333-334 great watch but I don't buy anything below 38mm
Looks like a San Martin case. Exactly the same dimensions for their 36mm ranger homage
I just bought this watch. I was shocked at the quality.
Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
I watched both your reviews of the WD1960 and the AD2023. Can you pls tell me which one has better lume?
I'd say the watchdives is better
Looks tempting. If it wasn't for that absolutely horrific logo ..
Great review!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
San Martin has been selling this case for a while. In fact, they make this same watch with an NH35! It's probably one of their better selling models too. It's a solid Ranger homage.

I prefer printed vs applied
I would prefer a standard caseback and not this RLX-style.
Love the term "homage" It is a copy.
Is it though? Different size, different colors. I get some are just copy/past and replace the name on the dial, but it doesn't apply here IMO
That is a damned attractive watch. Throw a NH38 in it and send me 2!
