As more proof to how good Peter was in this role, here's a qoute from a interveiw.
"But really, I had to fight for that outfit, like a Chekhov outfit, like a theatrical outfit. Because in the beginning, they had me dressed up bare chested in leather pants and tattoos, and a lot of bondage jewelry and stuff. I said, "No one's gonna listen to what I have to say. Just put me in a Chekhov, like an off-white linen suit, and tar on my feet."
Could you imagen if he didn't fight for this outfit?! He looks sooo damned good in that white dress and tared up feet.

@@davidzasloff8797 yes! Many mentions of tar in the bible and it's generally associated with god's wrath.
Genesis 14:10 The Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits. The kings of Sodom and Gomorrah ran away from the battle. Some of their men fell into the pits. The rest escaped to the hills.
Isaiah 34:9 Edom’s streams will be turned to tar. Its soil will be turned to burning sulfur.
Its land will become blazing tar.

    • @Menuki

It’s how Constantine does its exposition and continuity.
You need water to cross over. Lucifer is barefoot because his feet were in a tub of water. There’s very little water in hell, so for him to have enough water it was either extremely dirty or blood.
They don’t bludgeon you with exposition before the action. Stuff will happen and they’ll talk about it in later scenes. It makes the audience way engaged because of the “I figured out what happened” effect.

Like most beings in high levels of power I doubt Lucifer is comfortable being in debt to someone, especially to the one human he'd actually come to collect himself. He's also smart enough to realize why Constantine committed the sin of suicide upon seeing Gabriel about to unleash the Antichrist upon the Earth (that would ultimately lead to the Light winning at the end of the war).

He was obligated since Constantine prevented calamity (Gabriel killing the antichrist with the spear of destiny not being part of God's plan) thus his sisters suicide basically becomes God's plan which can't happen soooooo sister gets saved by Constantine and then his soul is spared and its worth pointing out that by the end of the scene the way everything falls together so perfectly makes one feel God is in control all the way. Well done.

Giddy with anticipation, casual, dickish prank with the lighter, jilted lover, cocky rules lawyer, business-like trading of one last favor, protective guardian (to the demon possessing Rachel Weiss), and an old frienemy to John. He didn't go to heaven because lucifier brought him back from dying. By getting rid of his cancer. He also did it so he can continue to live and hopefully sin again and go to hell. He did not want God to take him to heaven quite yet.

As the prank said, he wasn’t forsaken, Lucifer saved his life before god could claim him. Flipping the bird was just who he is, Nowhere in any text does it say you can’t take satans name in vain or curse him.
That’s kind of his power, the devil keeps him alive until he sins so he can claim him for himself.
His willingness to give up his life for his sister was the only reason god attempted to claim him anyways. He was going to hell before that.

The filmmakers did a fantastic job of showing, not telling the level of power scaling that each character had, as well as just how far out of league Constantine was playing in. Gabriel tossing him across the room with a breath, Lucifer practically freezing time before smacking Gabriel's divinity out of them with a look; it all shows just how outclassed Constantine is. Yet he still stares the devil straight in the eye and gets him to do what he wants.

    • @nm7358
      @nm7358 6 месяцев назад +1

It wasn't Lucifer who tore Gabriel's wings, I think, but God.. God had Lucifer's back here, literally, not Gabriel. Hence why Gabriel said Father? Lucifer was simply there to stop the ritual and hold Mammon, so he may be cast back down to Hell. But Lucifer does not hold the power of turning Angels into humans. As soon as God stopped Gabriel's fist, God was in control here.
