- Canada Day used to be a day that Canadians from all over the country could put aside their differences and celebrate living in the greatest country on earth. But today, under Justin Trudeau’s “postnational state,” it’s the trend to be ashamed of this country and to feel guilty about past historical wrongs that either never happened or present Canadians have no connection to.
We’ve all heard the media and politicians lecture us about how ashamed we should be about Canada, but how do Canadians really feel?
On the latest episode of Ratio’d, Harrison Faulkner went to Mississauga to ask Canadians on the street if they feel proud of this country and if they think Canada deserves to be celebrated.

I'll be honest, I served 7 years in the Forces and 22 as a peace officer and this country has been falling apart since 2015.
I'm a born Albertan and Western alienation has never been worse, insults from Ottawa, the war on our oil and gas industry and MSM attacks on our premier and the premier of Saskatchewan have created a lot of anger in the West.
Perhaps some miracle will happen and Quebec and Ontario will start to treat us with some respect but, I doubt that will ever happen.
This country was once respected and admired by the world but, that has been relegated to the pages of revisionist history. Us "Old Stock" Canadians are now no better than second class citizens and we are forced to watch our monuments damaged and torn down, our history erased and be subjected to ridiculous accusations about a ficticious history of genocide.

That Filipino man is bang on! I have always said this. I am of Indian/German background and came here when I was 3. Canada is my home and I'm proud and thankful. At home we celebrated Indian/German traditions and outside our home we simply lived and celebrated Canada and Canadian traditions. It worked perfectly. I enjoyed it all.

As an Indian immigrant, I feel blessed to live in such a wonderful country where everyone is treated equally and people are respected for who they are. The fresh air and freedom are truly remarkable. Every country has a past, and this country is genuinely striving to support everyone. Thanks to all the soldiers and nation builders who contributed to making this country great. I see Canada now, from the Canada I remember. I don't know whether to be, shocked, bewildered or angry. What I'm seeing is a Canada I can't recognize anymore, and of all the other emotions I mentioned. I believe the one I feel the most is shame.
Where did it go? The Canada I was born in was a country to be proud of. Now I see my country as comic relief on the World stage. The Country that was safe haven to slaves fleeing, persecution in the US. The Country that was fighting in WW2, years before our neighbors to the south. A Country that welcomed immigrants and became a unified Country made of a melting pot of cultures. A Country that believed in Freedom and died to protect it. As a Country we recognized wrongs and made changes where needed, because we recognize that everyone has rights. That is the Canada I remember. Where did it go? What I see now, I can't reconcile with my memories. Who could have imagined a Strong and Progressive country like the Canada I remember would become the disaster it is now? I don't remember when I first became aware of this new phenomenon called Woke. I looked into what was being said about it and what information I could find, I assured myself that it was lunacy and would go away. Turns out it didn't and this ideology began to spread, I thought not only is it lunacy but it's dangerous. Yet it continued to spread, I don't understand what was happening. How could I see that it is insanity, yet it's still growing. As it does I can see what's happening where it is. Relatively peaceful countries, are having massive Civil unrest, where it exists. Yet I still can't understand the rational behind what I was seeing. This thing was growing and causing disruption wherever it is. I think this not only dangerous but lethal. Wherever it goes it seizes control and normal life for others stops. I was foolish In thinking my country would never allow it's existence here. My country believes in freedom, my country protects the weak, and supports its people and it would be stopped here. To my astonishment it came here and a Narcissist leads my country now. I don't believe Trudope is Woke, regardless he is a divisionist. He divides across all areas, religion, rights, race. So while the people are divided they can't unite against the real threat to every Canadian Justin Trudope and Woke. And since the arrival of both in my country I have not seen a SINGLE positive change. Everyone's life has become worse because of both and they both want more.
Canada's military that was crucial in defeating tyranny is now ruled by it. Our health care system is broken, our country is in debt. And Trudope thinks the answer is spend more money. The same man that has been tied to more scandals than any leader previous. The man that jets around the world to say how progressive he is. Then unfortunately comes back to preach austerity to me. The man that couldn't organize flatulence at a bean dinner wants Canadiens to pay for the dinner. I saw an interview with a high ranking Canadian military officer. He was asked. If a foreign country was to attack Canada, how long could we defend ourselves. I couldn't believe his answer, he said 8 DAYS. We only have enough munitions to with stand an attack by a foreign power. WTF? We give the Ukraine billions of dollars to fight their war, but if it happened to us we have 8DAYS?
Our Chaplin General of our forces, this past remembrance day, issued an order that no prayers were to be had at services. What? Trudope ordered tampon dispensers in all men's washrooms in the military. What? If you think I've been gone crazy with things I've said lately? Let me assure you I haven't, I'm just tired of seeing what's happening and not saying anything. If a single thing I have said gave you food for thought, that was the goal. If what I said offended you I don't care.

We've been demoralized. The fact that I've had about 20 East Indians insult me for wanting my Canada back the way it was, telling me they are more Canadian than I am because they built Canada. I'm 64 and remember at 7 the very first Sikh family moving in. We had never seen that before. I must have missed them while they were building Canada. I'm 5th generation and they tell me I have no culture.
Tbh though, the dedication to progressivism is one of the things that led us down the woke path. People cared more about progressing, and not enough about where they were progressing *to,* and dismissed every traditional view as being inherently bigoted (an attorney which was woke lite). And people bought it. All the ore so as there was an active push to get Christoan views out of the public sphere. People are inherently religious creatures, and if you erase one faith they will replace it with another. And that faith doesn't have to be a mainstream religion - it can be dedication to secular morals and dogmas. It can look like worshipping sex, orientation, science, gender, race, social status, or revolution and change itself.
It was always a slippery slope. Heck, I wrote letters to the paper about it literally 20 years ago and people laughed at me then or just got confused. I'm just sorry it took so many people this long to wake up to it.

Pre 2020 I was the proudest Canadian. I’m not ashamed but I no longer feel pride. We turned our back on all of our values and I don’t recognize the place I grew up in anymore.
WE didn't turn our back, the mainstream media and governments (including provincial & municipal) TURNED THEIR BACKS ON US! Other cultures are throwing the colonialist and racist cards daily at those who built Canada. YES, our First Nations culture has experienced many injustices, and the government IS TO BLAME for making the culture 'wards of the crown'. When people are forced into a welfare regime the incentives to move forward can stagnate people leaving a systemic system of victimhood vs striving to build up. Shaming and blaming one another isn't healthy; it leaves us in perpetual dysfunction. The IRISH built the Rideau Canal; certainly British engineers built the TTC subway lines; many cultures contributed to building Canada's railway. EVERY culture who's contributed to the positive building of a sustainable CANADA deserves recognition. Those who want to complain and victimize or remain in victimized need to check in with themselves as to what they've contributed to make Canada a better thriving place for all!

@@myhounddog Sadly that's exactly how they got that rainbow flag into schools and stuck on children... the Unicorn Trend was the last big push just before they introduced the sexuality stuff onto children openly.... Not a religious person, but the Rainbow Symbol used to represent God which is pretty messed up when you think of how they perverted it so much.

The housing crisis leading to homelessness and other issues are causing anger among the population, leading to a decline in the politeness and friendliness that Canada was once known for. Furthermore, citizens feel that their freedom is being restricted, with severe consequences for peaceful protests.
