- Harrison Faulkner went to Charlottetown, P.E.I to report on the ongoing Indian student protest taking place in the city. For over a week, protesters have been demanding that they be given permanent residency in the province after P.E.I changed their rules to try and slow down the population growth of the province.
After a viral episode of Ratio’d on Monday about the protest, Harrison decided to follow up his reporting by going to the protest and speaking with the demonstrators. It didn’t take long before things fell off the rails and protesters had a meltdown upon seeing him.

You're not entitled to Canadian rights and residency because you read some books, took some lectures, or did some lab work.

The reason these kids are protesting is that the terms of their permits were changed after they arrived. Of course Canada has every right to change its terms but it should exempt the students that have already paid and apply the new rules to future permit/visa applications. In most situations in life, when common sense is applied, things usually work out. Not always, but usually.

@@thebrindianno, their terms did not change, they came as international students and they still are then they get the post graduate work permit, still no change, what’s changed is the requirements for express entry and some provincial PNPs have changed, this is normal when the economy slows down, unemployment rises and housing is tight. Many people of all different races leave Canada every year upon work permit expiry,

Travel and Tourism, insurance agent, business admin., etc. They target Career Colleges and Community Colleges with programs that are less than 12 months and lie to CBSA and agree to leave once their program is done. They should be deported based on being duplicitous towards a CBSA agent, as prior to last month this is a question that International Students attest to upon receipt of their study permit and these “immigration consultants” coach them on this and what to say, knowing full well they use studying as a back door means to claim residency and taking any nonsense b.s program, which essentially they could study online, in India, via the College. These guys aren't even smart about it by studying a skilled trade/apprenticeship which would help the international student gain more points and fast track the route to Citizenship. SMH🤦🏽♀️

As a legal immigrant who followed all the rules to earn the right to stay here. Send them home immediately. There's clear rules about involvement in political activities while on a temporary visa and this is clearly political activism.

My daughter went to France to study french. She was not allowed to work there nor was she allowed to stay when her schooling was done. How many foreign students never leave Canada?

The amount of tax a low income student pays is minimal. However the future cost to taxpayers is enormous when entire families grandparents and all end up immigrating here. The entitlement coming off of people is horrible.
Here's a question for you: how many foreign students would even want to come to Canada if immigration wasn't an option?

95 percent of those low skill protesters are from Punjab, and DO NOT CHANGE change rules in favor for them, they are violating their student visa permits. CBC will cover their protest and then they know the Government change the rules in favor for them. It was always about getting more Liberal voters. You know, many Canadians are also unemployed. But we don't become a loud public nuisance just because we don't have work. (If I tried that in India, I'm not sure that I would come out alive.) Canadians who are unemployed go out to apply for work again! Try that, on a part time basis only, because new legislation limits international students to 20 hours of work per week. Since international students come from wealthy families, who pay large sums of tuition for their full time university studies, they should have no problem working reduced hours and focussing on their studies. There's no need to become public spectacles. That won't help your cause.

Your Canadian govts perticularly liberal govt have soft corner towards theses khalistani separatist and sees it as good votebank. Theses all factors leads to so many young people from Punjab province in India moves to Canada. They mostly take admission in Universities just to get entry in Canada then they do law skill jobs or small business and apply for pr. In many others states in India students only goes to Canada if they are getting high paying jobs like in tech or medico, management etc. they don't move to foreign land for normal jobs as they get that in their home States in their home country. Certainly there are many high skill students from Punjab also but they people are not majority.

I'm a permanent resident. I came here as an international student in my 40. I have construction background as a PM, but I wouldn't be able to start working here without attending college. Now, I'm working as a supervisor in my field of studies, paying my taxes, trying to give something back to the community. I respect and try to add the Canadian culture as mine, after all, as long I'm here, I suppose to adapt my self, not trying to change the Canadian culture. I have a lot of friends like me, but none of them are from the same place as these guys protesting.

After a time, they realized, "Oh, we sent money to people that didn't deserve it; we gonna need that back." Of course, they did a rush job before and after it went out. Those international students who sought education and those on a work visa who were not entitled to CERB were forced to work to survive in Canada.

International students must have stopped working for reasons related to COVID-19 and met the other requirements for the benefit to receive the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). That said, funds were only allocated minimally compared to domestic citizens, and many international students are and were still expected to come to Canada during their education to support themselves financially, including residence, health care, and hospitality.
Now to that! Most of those who went to food banks didn't need it. It was nearly a way to get free food, and less they had to spend is very clearly cruel, evil, manipulative, etc. and should have never been given it in the first place; some that have been caught doing it received punishment for it turning negative (karma or justice served).
