- Another protest staged by Indian international students demanding work permit extensions and permanent residency is underway in Canada. This time in Brampton, Ontario. Among other demands, these protesters are demanding a 5-year post graduate work permit for all international students.
These protests are spreading across Canada now that international students are supposed to return to their home countries but the protesters want to change the rules at the 11th hour so they can get permanent residency status in Canada.
Their tactic? It's simple. Play the victim card and use the empathy of Canadians to work against our own interests to benefit them.

The name itself says it all: temporary students. After their visa is over, they are supposed to go back to their countries and not be here protesting that they want to stay for longer.
Intl students pay twice the fees than an ordinary canadian PR holder or citizen. Canada Univs makes tonnes of money from Intl students without which they would have been poorer

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident who came as an international student from India to study at a public university for my masters degree.
Most (if not all) students have stated in their statement of purpose for visa application to go back after the study/work-permit finishes. So did I. Fortunately, I found a work opportunity in Canada in the field of my study and relevant to my previous work experience in India. Based on my profile, the government offered me a PR and I now am a permanent resident.

As an Indian myself, I wish canada govt does what's beneficial for their people even if its deporting them.
As an Indian they forget 1 thing, it states clearly in their permit that on the day their permit expires they are to leave the country and go back and they also sign a form declaring that very thing when they arrive at the Canadian airport. The Government is not liable for anything beyond their permit's validity as after that they are by law illegal on the Canadian soil.
So all and all it's just a show.

You should know that most people who leave India to "Study", they go with intention to permanently relocate. Most of the times, "studying" is just an excuse to get a chance to move to Canada.
Canadian Government's Study+Work permit followed by PR after a few years, is very lucrative for these people.

I am an Indian and I advocate that these guys be dealt firmly & strictly, they cannot behave like this in any host country.

But Canada is bringing in the lowest tier Punjabi students. Their English proficiency test are questionable and everything is crystal clear by the mumblings they are doing. All cheaters. Line up in food banks and eat in guruduras. Have no moral compass and once they get foot into the system, they will literally abuse it. The quality of Tim Hortons service is the biggest example here. In 5 years if they make it to PR, this country is doomed to collapse.
