just a reminder to not cut towards your hand! if you slip, you will cut your hands with the sharp blade and rlly hurt yourself (we did lino cutting in art (basically the same) and our art teacher constantly said this to us)
I felt this i accidentally hurt myself twice it wasn't fun 😪
We did it in class too and we ran out of band-aids eventually
I was carving in wood and stabbed myself in the left hand - I had been warned to carve away from myself but nobody told dumb 12yo me that I shouldn't hold the far end of the block with my left hand! Still have the scar, any palm reader will be bemused by my split life line xD
Yep, can second that. My thumb is still healing 😂
Definitely!!!. Actually have bandaids on my hands right now from accidentally cutting my hands
hello, lovely video!
just a warning, never cut linoleum towards you! you can really mess up your hand because those blades are extremely sharp. i had a professor who had a u-shaped scar in his hand from those linoleum carving tools.
always, always cut away from yourself!
I had a classmate that dug under her fingernail with one. I didn't see the aftermath, though.
Yeah I was carving Lino at school once and I was cutting towards me my hand slipped and the carving tool sliced into my thumb and it was nasty
also steady the tip of the tool with your index finger (of the hand thats not holding the tool lol) so it wont slip that often/you dont carve too much
Yep! I have a scar on my thumb from a lino cutter in grade 8 art class. 😂
Ngl, that would be a pretty cool looking scar in my opinion-I don’t want one though. 😂
Love these!! A little tip that I love to do with mine is before you trace the image onto it, paint the whole block white (or any light color that different than the block) so when you're carving its easier to tell where you've carved. These look great!!
What kind of paint? Just acrylics?
@@Cecibug1 yup!
once I saw this video I literally told my mom " we have to go to Micheal's! " and then I got all the stuff and I just made a stamp and it turned out so cute! thanks for the tutorial!
This reminded me of the time I made stamps in high school for art class! I love this 😍
we were making stamps (7th grade) and halfway through it covid happened 🥺
we did that in first year! I live in Scotland so Idk what that is where you're from
XxCheese&HamToastiexX same! I did this around 15 or grade 9
11:00 there are $10-20 steel bench hooks/inking plates sold through art stores! They're designed so that you can push your medium (rubber etc) up against one side for stability during carving (instead of holding it with your hand), while the other braces against the table. When you're done with carving, it can also be used to ink your roller more easily. It can also be scrubbed clean after use. I did linoleum carving when I was much younger and I was impressed by how useful this gadget is.
So interesting, I have to try this!
You would kill it!! I love your videos btw! Found you from your punch rug vids, its cool to see you here!
I just found this video and it took me straight back to eighth-grade art class. One of our projects was carving/designing our linoleum stamps and making prints from them. That was about ten years ago. I just remember it being one of my favorite art projects. I haven't done it since, but this video is really inspiring me to try it.
YES i did this in an art class once too
this is exactly why i serched for this video
These look really cute! Makes me wanna make my own stamps too 😍
I'm a beginner at this myself, but I've learned you don't have to trace the design twice. Once you've drawn it on the tracing paper the first time, you can flip it over onto the rubber you'll be carving and just use a blunt tool like the end of marker or the corner of a ruler to rub across your pencil lines. The graphite will be imprinted onto the rubber mat without you having to draw twice and worry about match the lines you just did on the other side of the paper.
You can also just scribble over all the lines with the pencil rather than trying to draw over them exactly, that’s the method I do at least
Ah man, I wish i had these things in my country, this looks so cool!
Same 😭
You can buy linoleum and carving tools. We had to have them for our arts class in middle school
@@asobimo5532 I don't think they sell linoleum here though, I've never seen such a materian in any crafts store I go to, :( but they do have carving supplies
@@worstusernameintheworld9871 its mostly used as a floor but it can be used for carving (to stamp with ink).
@@worstusernameintheworld9871 you can use rubber as a base too it's better than nothing
Love this video!! I have the Silhouette Mint and have made many stamps, it's so fun designing it and then the printing process 😍 You can actually mix the Mint inks and create new shades!!! 💗💗
A good, cheap way to spread your ink before rolling is to use a sheet of glass. You can take one out of an old picture frame, it works better than foil (the foil wrinkles), and you can wash it out after and reuse it, so you produce less waste!
Oh! I have always wanted to make my own stamps forever. Imma try this out! tnx Jenny!
-Your biggest fan
That stamp making machine was awesome! I had never heard of anything like that before but now I want it. Thanks for showing how to make stamps, I'm gonna try my hand at it now.
We did this in art class and I just knew I wanted to try it on my own. It’s such a fun process!
Yes! I needed a stamp video from you, I've seen others but none are as cute as yours! Thanks
I absolutely love your artistic style! All the sparkles and little details 😍
The little stamp at the end of the video looks like a beautiful postage stamp ✨
This looks like so much fun!! They all turned out beautifully!! ✨💛✨
You always give me so much inspiration, and get me motivated to draw and be crafty, up until the moment I realize I have zero artistic talent. At that point I head over to your shop and purchase your designs.
Ah ALWAYS so excited to see new vidoes on youtube from you! I've been rewatching your streams haha (sincerelymimee on there) because the community and your videos are always so relaxing and soothing! Loved the vlog style and seeing you get more comfortable in front of the camera! SO COOL. I've wanted to try doing that but I never really use stamps, but this was really satisfying to watch xx
I recommend flipping your rollers so that it’s not resting on the roller part, but rather on the frame. :)
That’s what we do with our rollers.
Can’t wait to finish this video cuz I like it already! :)
Your videos are always such a joy to watch! The stamps turned out awesome too! Cheers
Yesss I’ve been so patiently waiting for thissss!! Also beautiful apartment!
This is so awesome! I've never even thought of making my own stamps. I love all your designs too.
They came out really cute. I love your hair Jenny!
This was such a calming, relaxing experience. Thank you for this.
Not I’m not crying cause Jenny is amazing, gorgeous and incredibly talented. Jenny if you see this ilysm I can’t even explain. ❤️
for the ink i usually put it on a piece a glass from a frame or a big acrylic rectangle will do the job too!!
This was such a cute run threw creative d.i.y., thank you so much for putting it together & thank you for the Laura.makes shout out. I checked out her insta & wow, you were not kidding.
So soothing to watch! You've inspired me to try my own!
I find these so satisfying 😍
This is so amazing!! I’m obsessed!😍😍
Really cute, gonna try it out again. They actually had us do this in art class, years ago.
This was really helpful, thank you. And ur designs are very cute!
The one with the moon is so awesome!
Those are so beautiful! I have to try that soon 😍
You can use mirror or glass to prepare the ink on, then you can use canola oil to clean up and green works window spray, I did this kind of thing in my print making class
I've been wanting to make my own business cards + thank you cards for clients with my photography logo and my brain was rattling trying to figure this out - how did I not think of transfer paper, thank you!! This tutorial slays and I really love all of the stamps you made!!
First time I've watched one of your videos. Well explained and a lovely set of stamps.
This was so cool, I'm definitely gonna try it out, thanks!!
I'm partial to the carving the blocks myself, but I kinda like the silhouette stamping too! Never seen that way before ♡ loved the video tfs
That intro was so satisfying. Loved the piano
LOVE IT !! I didn't know about all this stuff! Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
I love making stamps! I also loved watching this video!
I might try stamp making someday. I remember doing that in high school art class, it was fun!
I used to do this in school 😂
Wow time flies. Thank you for bringing back memories 👍
i love the moon stamp!
We did this in high school with a linoleum tile! Wow.. forgot all about that lol. Great video!!!
This is so inspiring and looks super nice
your bangs are to die for girl!
That journal turned out 🔥🔥🔥🔥
If she doesn’t make like a shirt out of the moon one I-
I just got that Zelda calendar and am looking for stamp making tutorials because I wanted to stamp my work schedule on it, funny to see it pop-up here.
your fringes are so cute
Thanks, got a few good tips and successfully made my first stamp this evening 😀
Beautiful!!!!
Love your videos!! Another beautiful one! Thank you for making them! From London xx
this is so helpful and cute! thank youuuuuuuu!
Very beautiful stamps 😍
I loved watching your video! It was very helpful ❤️
the moon stamp came out so beautiful!!! wrong Roman numeral or nah, I love it!!! definitely gonna try stampmaking. thank u for sharing!!
I found that (especially with digital designs) it's even easier to cut them as a mirrored vinyl sticker and just stick that to the rubber :)
In high school we made these in my 3D design class (mostly worked with clay but occasionally did other art projects) and I made a sweet SUBHUMANS skull.
Very cute. I remember doing something similar to this when I was in 5th or 6th grade
Love your designs and I really want to get the Mint from Blick! Haven't heard "fancy schmancy" since my grandma!
The dislikes must be jealous of Jenny’s amazing talent 🤩🥳💕
Okay. I didn't know this was a thing. I was looking for a better solution than stickers for my store to place on gift/ shipping boxes. (I make candles/ wax melts and possibly soap in the near future). Currently only selling local, but learning to make my own website and Shopify. Thank you so much for the teaching session!
"I don't think that roman numeral even exists" 🤣😂
Oh that made my day!
Gorgeous stamp btw, I love it. I agree the effect on home made paper is awesome.
Tfs 🦉🎨
Thanks for sharing your findings.
These turned out really nice!!! You're brave, I wouldn't know where to start!!!
Excellent work
Very nice. Looks fun
I love making stamps also
Nice work
They all look sooooo gooood 😆😆😆
I love theseee
1:18 make sure you store your brayers on their backs! it will keep an even surface for inking so you can keep it longer.
Jenny, to transfer the pencil lines on soft pvc a specular design (with less work) you can draw directly on glossy paper for geometric planes, and then reflect and apply it on pvc. Unfortunately it don't work well on linoleum because it's too much hard for graphite!
Woooooow I was just asking myself today “how you do dis stamp thing” 🌸💓💓💓🤭
so beautiful and also satisfying (?) love iiiiit!
I did this in middle school in my art school, and I loved doing it. Kind of sad I never continued doing it outside of class
Amazing. I love it❤
Saw the thumbnail and made me think of using erasers when I was little for the similar idea. Limited by size of eraser. lol Love the designs.
i really like this stamps :) 🌙 the number should be XVIII
The Roman numeral is definitely wrong, since you're not supposed to ever put two V next to each other. But the that's virtually the only blemish in that design. I absolutely love how that moon stamp looks 😍
Yeah I was trying to figure out what number is that even supposed to be. 29??
So cool!
okay but like your editing ✨🔮🤍🦕
waahhhh!!! how I wish to have these stamps here in our country huhuhu and also your stickers in your different video on your channel. I want to make one too but I sadly I don't have one huhu
I’m in no way interested in making stamps but if Jenny journals uploads a video, I’m watching it. ☺️☺️
man i started a journal because of you i love drawing and painting but im not skilled like you are🥺
The inserted part of the mint can be reused (with some third party consumables). I think this is no longer being offered from silhouette because the high cost of the "extras" you need besides the machine.
Instead of using pencil to re trace it on to the pad there is a tool called a scribe it has a paint brush type handle and a little metal round ball and you just quickly trace over the tracing paper to transfer it into anything you want with out spending a lot of time retracing it you just apply pressure and rub over the whole area until you rubbed over the whole tracing and boom it's transfered quickly
NEVER cut toward the hand that's holding the stamp while you carve (unless you're ok with blood, pain, maybe stitches and permanent damage to your hand)!!!!!! FYI, the Speedball carving tool used in this video is NOT designed for left handed people. The sharp edges of the tool are on the side away from what you're carving when the tool is held in your left hand. Because of this design flaw, it's not possible to get accurate carving when using this tool. An otherwise inspiring video.
Why are people like you always like this. Just be quiet for once 💯
@@wockyslush666 They are just giving information, and a warning, its fine.
Omg Sophie looking on in the background 😍😍😍 my girl (a 60 lb. Pittie named Goose) will come over and swipe my hands away from whatever I’m doing when she’s feeling “neglected” 😂😂😂
I love this video :) a good tip is to not keep the brayer (roller) facing down since it flattens one side and ruins it, love the video tho !
So cute and pretty! 💕💝💗💖💓
Yay top 201 comments. Love these videos. Best to all.
Nice 👍 videos it gave me idea to try out , look so simple to do it 🥰🤪
Amazing post!
You should make a full set of the terro cards on the hand made paper and sell them as a set for decoration of course for a coffee table or something but they are super awesome looking I just got into stamp making
Amazing love you ♥️♥️♥️
