The P30 Pro is oversharpened and over contrasted, overexposed with less dynamic range and thus with less detail, but the 1020 has that green tint and poor low light performance, and slow processing time. In the day, with a stable shot and time the 1020 is still far ahead, especially in raw mode or when taking photos of people, or close ups of nature it's still phenomenally better, the detail is incredible. If only the 1020 sensor could be put into the P30 Pro's algorithms and CPU. The P30 Pro has much better low light performance due to more light into the lens and better software, however, there really needs to be an option to lower the default saturation and sharpening; they make it look good on a small screen, but definitely look worse when viewed on high res, large screen or printed. Raw mode fixes this but it's obvious the 1020 is better even in raw mode. Also, the P30 Pro has those telephoto and wide-angle lenses that make zoomed in or out images have better detail. In conclusion, the 1020 is a better camera, but the benefits of having a supported OS with a modern CPU can't be understated; with the 1020 you basically have to carry another phone with you now, so why not just carry a DSLR? Well, at least carrying the 1020 as a dedicated camera can fit in your other pocket, and maps and basic email and web browsing still work so its not a complete loss as an emergency phone. But thing is you can't edit Huawei's photos more because they are already edited as long as they are not RAW capture. If you know how to edit a photo, Lumia is still the best.
To me it looks like Huawei P30 Pro has slight edge overall. Both seem to be a bit hit-or-miss on the exposure and white balance and Nokia 1020 has a little more potential in daylight from looking at the raw mode photos. However, most higher end phones have usable image quality in daylight already so I'm going to put a lot of weight to low light performance and here P30 Pro wins with a good margin. If only had Huawei done a little better work on auto exposure and white balance. In the future, I'd like to see ISO and exposure time for each shot for each camera.

Similar looking pictures no they dont. Im happy because Lumia in Manual mode in PRO hands can destroys almost all camera phones with the natural looking photos and something than make pictures looking like not taken by the phone.
L1020 still amazes me… Although P30 Pro is better in low light, is not so much difference considering that L1020 is 6 years old, wich is a lot in tech industry. In daylight L1020 is better, because Huawei's sharpening & noise reduction removes some fine detail too. Still have two L1020, one with it's camera grip. I use it a lot, specially on vacations. My Mate 10 is nowhere closer the Lumias in photo quality.

Ohh you Nokia fanboys! Oversaturated colours or oversharpening can be solved in processing, stop making a fuss about that! That is what market wants, and this is the law in commerce! These are PHONES, not professional photography tools! Most people will use those photos for Instagram or personal use, not to make a 2 meter billboard nor open a photo gallery! Yes, the picture quality is AMAZING for a 6 year phone, but consider that: for the same price of flagship phone you get a much more versatile camera device! We have normal, wide and telephoto! Nokia only had to concentrate on A SINGLE CAMERA! Thanks God they did not scrue that up! Overall Nokia is SOFTER (see clouds in boat picture, trees in landscape), slower in night exposure (3 times faster is P30 Pro, and a shaken image CAN'T BE ELIMINATED IN POST PROCESSING!) Nokia had a single clear win, in sunset picture, where we can see the contour of the sun, unlike in P30 Pro picture. The white balance is debatable because we do not have a reference picture, only our best guess. So ... Enjoy your phones, take pictures and be happy that us, mortals, have the opportunity to buy and enjoy this level tech!
Oversharpening on today's phone is mainly because of the camera's algorithm. Now that pretty much everyone is in the computational photography race, we won't be seeing anymore a phone where the camera's hardware with its big sensor and brilliant optics do the job.
Not oversharpened? Lol, joke of the century! Compare the P30 Pro against the Mate 30 Pro, and you'll see how laughably bad P30 Pro is! Don't be fooled by oversharpening and oversampling, they are as different as chalk and cheese.

In the future, I'd like to see ISO and exposure time for each shot for each camera.
why nokias(nokia 9,nokia x71 lumia 950, lumia 1020) does not appears in dx o mark? thanks for all every nice forever people
Because Nokia didn't pay anyone for such thing.
@@FAT8893 dude I hope that nokia just make a camera like 950 on new smartphones...8.1 sirocco have nice camera...nokia 9 too...nokia needs a sensor like 950 or 1020...like nokia 6.2 or nokia 7.1!
thanks!
Alredy know that i do good choise buying lumia 1020 in 2019 for photographyng....camera is so amazing...and so fun too..in fact still compete vs newest phonecameras and beat almost all of them.make me so prud 😁 domt forget. Even after 5 years. They still trying hard to make it good as lumia 😐
As long as today's smartphone OEM only relies on software algorithm and computational photography for their camera, it would never beat a proper hardware with brilliant optics and big sensor.

Nokia Lumia 1020
Lumia has very natural looking photos.
Hello Sir can you compare Lumia 1020 vs Nokia 9? Thanks a bunch!
He already done it a while back: ruclips.net/video/p8yHm1w1mGE/видео.html
Hey pls do one with Lumia 950 xl
If it's Lumia 950 XL against the P30 Pro, All About Windows Phone did write a comparison between the two.
allaboutwindowsphone.com/features/item/23455_Camera_head_to_head_Lumia_950_.php
back then phones used optics and less softwares
Not a surprise when the Lumia can still produce a stellar image despite the age.
Son 6 años de diferencia en ambos modelos, la tecnología avanza! pero sorprende como de noche el Lumia no se amilana.
can you alow to poste this videos on Twitter?? Pleas answer me THX
Similar looking pictures no they dont. Im happy because Lumia in Manual mode in PRO hands can destroys almost all camera phones with the natural looking photos and something than make pictures looking like not taken by the phone.
Nokia 1020 wins
Still loving Nokia 🥰
Wow the 1020 really is amazing
The shot at 2:16 with the lumia stands apart
L1020 still amazes me… Although P30 Pro is better in low light, is not so much difference considering that L1020 is 6 years old, wich is a lot in tech industry. In daylight L1020 is better, because Huawei's sharpening & noise reduction removes some fine detail too.
Still have two L1020, one with it's camera grip. I use it a lot, specially on vacations. My Mate 10 is nowhere closer the Lumias in photo quality.
Yet most people say the P30 Pro is the best. I just couldn't understand why, it didn't win me at all. It's just either because they like photos with brighter colour or just pure blatant fanboyism.
@@FAT8893 Huawei has an exaggerated publicity
P30pro won. But this lumia was had a killer camera back then. Why I never owned it 🤦🏽♂️
I can't say that P30 Pro won. Its RAW photo is a total joke.
which city u live? bro!
P30 pro did better ONLY in one shot (soldiers monument?) at night. The rest - L1020 wins. Amazing.
Except for the OS , then nokia loses.
+Screaming Eagle Doesn't stop me from buying one.
@@FAT8893 well, not me either .. but I changed from it quite fast 😂
@@FAT8893 it's because your country isn't as high tech as mine. Here that phone is shit except for the camera
@@screamingeagle7655 Funny you said that, almost no one here in my country ever heard of Windows Phone. It's either Android or iOS, that's it. Windows Phone? BlackBerry 10? Ubuntu Touch? Sailfish? /e/? Don't ask them.
I personally check p30 pro from their outlet store and testing the camera, i found out the same as comment from internet oversharp and unnatural colors pixelated etc, btw i still own 808 a little disappointed and regrets for not having a 1020
I'm far more concerned about the painting like photo from the Huawei when pixel peep. It's just so horrendously bad!
@@FAT8893 most of the people today fan of samsung and chinese phones bcoz of extravagant features, while me as a fan of nokia built to last concept which i admired few people
jeric cordero The Nokias being built to last hurt them badly. The early iPhones died with the first drop of rain, which meant that fanatics either paid double for iCare or bought new phones regularly.
Nokia pure natural picture
Plzzz compare with Sony xz premium to Nokia Lumia 1020....😍
The n9 killed the 930
Lumia 1020 photos are more natural. Love NOKIA.
An Khang Cao Nguyen This is because they are. The dual processor was a bit of a joke even for 2013, so you don’t use many focusing aids, lest the phone reboot itself. The Huawei phones from P30 and up are ridiculously easy to get great photographs from and Night Mode is insanely powerful!
And Nokia 8 vs xz premium....am a old fan of both Nokia an Sony phones nokia like 6260....n73...n82...and Sony k850!....an C905 cyber shot....
Bro please I need a Nokia Lumia 1020 please give it to me
Nokia Lumia 1020 available
why should you get a phone for free? LOL get up your ass get a job and buy the phone..
This phone is cheaper than cheap smartphones from now.
What? You want free? LOL
1 camera vs 4 cameras Nokia Forever Lumia 1020
when raw was converted to jpeg - the winner is only one ;)
I wish nokia re make lumia same shape
Iam sick of new phones all same bezel less copy
P30 is clearly the winner here. But that Nokia really is very impressive especially considering that it was released in 2013
Clearly the winner? Not convinced, look back at 2:19.
@@FAT8893 I mean, it's your eyes so see whatever you want. You can believe whatever you want too. Though i see no point at this
but YOU probably do so... Keep being nostalgic it will help you a lot
@Paul C I'll give credit to P30 Pro for zoom and low light. But not sure about the rest. And I'm not being nostalgic, hardware physics would always beat software computation, no matter how much the tech for computational photography grows.
@@FAT8893 It's true that "clearly the winer" was a bit overdo cause the overall quality really was very close and very comparable
And they were equal on the first part i agree.
The lowlight round went to P30
And the last picture looked better with lumia
I just think P30 won. Just not by far
@@paulhriir
in raw format l1020 is indisputably the winner
Como puedo conseguir un nokia 1020
6 años de diferencia, 1000 dolares y sigue sin superarlo
Un update del software a la cámara del Nokia y tendrá mucho mejores resultados
Nokia 👋❣🇹🇷
Overall Nokia is SOFTER (see clouds in boat picture, trees in landscape), slower in night exposure (3 times faster is P30 Pro, and a shaken image CAN'T BE ELIMINATED IN POST PROCESSING!)
Nokia had a single clear win, in sunset picture, where we can see the contour of the sun, unlike in P30 Pro picture.
The white balance is debatable because we do not have a reference picture, only our best guess.
So ... Enjoy your phones, take pictures and be happy that us, mortals, have the opportunity to buy and enjoy this level tech!
nevermind that all the raw ones are better from the 1020 and couple of jpgs are as good or even better than the p30
Don't compare Nokia with these garbage😂
Still to be the best
Lumia 1020 >>>>>>>> any iPhone
nokia still had the lead and better dynamic range no lie
Me gusta más el 1020
I really like older phones, when oversharpening wasn't "a good looking" trend like today...
Oversharpening on today's phone is mainly because of the camera's algorithm. Now that pretty much everyone is in the computational photography race, we won't be seeing anymore a phone where the camera's hardware with its big sensor and brilliant optics do the job.
I want to sell Lumia 1020 ..
How much
Unbelievable nokia lumia.....if the os was ok, then It's sure unbeatable...
L1020 is original camera phone p30 pro great camra
Great, but not legendary. The P30 is now replaced by the P40. As for the L1020? I'm yet to see any true replacement for it.

Edited Nokia Vs unedited Huawei the Huawei looks more natural and not oversharpend
Not oversharpened? Lol, joke of the century! Compare the P30 Pro against the Mate 30 Pro, and you'll see how laughably bad P30 Pro is!
Don't be fooled by oversharpening and oversampling, they are as different as chalk and cheese.
