    Finally, the comparison I have been waiting for since the launch of the P30 Pro! 🤩
    Here's my POV from the comparison:
    0:55 There seems to be a hint of purple tint from the L1020, as seen from the front of the Mustang.
    1:07 The L1020 doesn't exhibit too much exposure or whiteness compare to P30P.
    1:22 The yellow petals on the L1020 seems a bit overexposed compared to P30P. Mind you, the greeny bit looks better on the L1020.
    1:36 The sky is to anyone's own preference, but there seems to be some colour difference for the mirrors on the boat. It feels like as if the L1020 possessed better reflection than the P30P.
    1:51 The letters and the bricks on the P30P looks oversharpened a little, but it didn't hurt the whole photo much. A tight draw here between the two.
    2:04 Both of them are so different in so many way! Which one's the most accurate to real life human eye? 😅
    2:18 The leaves on P30P is overexposed compared to L1020.
    2:32 L1020 all the way, looks more pleasing to the eye.
    2:50 The same as 2:04. It looks reddish on the P30P while yellowish on the L1020.
    3:05 It's a tad overexposed on the L1020, and it feels to me that the P30P looks sharper, especially with that green plant.
    3:18 Red sunset on the P30P or the yellow sunset on the L1020?
    3:33 Some green tint can be seen clearly with the L1020, but that brake lights really raises me the colour accuracy question. 🤔
    4:01 Notice the slightly overexposed whiteness from the display mirror on the L1020. Mind you, the brick lines can be seen clearer on the L1020.
    4:16 Again, yet another colour accuracy question. 😅
    4:29 There is some slight hint on colour accuracy differences, but apart from that... both looks great. Really don't know which one to choose here.
    4:47 5:30 My word, the colour difference is so damn obvious here (😱)! Is it because of Huawei's SuperSpectrum RYYB arrangement?
    5:02 6:02 An obviously solid win for the L1020. At 5:02, it shows less overexposure and clearer looking sky.
    5:15 The sky looks different from each other and there seems to be a hint of green tint from the mirror on the P30P. Otherwise, great shot for both of them.
    5:47 Well the L1020 is definitely looks brighter than P30P, but I see less noise with P30P. Probably because of it's lower ISO count or faster shutter speed?
    6:17 I noticed that the red colour from the "No bicycle" sign on L1020 is more obvious than the P30P. As a matter of fact, the steel pillar looks sharper on the L1020 as well.
    6:31 Definitely a completely different output from the two.
    My verdict?
    I said to myself that it is hard to find any Android camera that can match the photo quality of the Nokia/Microsoft PureView on Windows Phone devices. Now the premise of mine become stonger, there's still work needed to be done to surpass them.

      The P30 Pro is oversharpened and over contrasted, overexposed with less dynamic range and thus with less detail, but the 1020 has that green tint and poor low light performance, and slow processing time.
      In the day, with a stable shot and time the 1020 is still far ahead, especially in raw mode or when taking photos of people, or close ups of nature it's still phenomenally better, the detail is incredible.
      If only the 1020 sensor could be put into the P30 Pro's algorithms and CPU. The P30 Pro has much better low light performance due to more light into the lens and better software, however, there really needs to be an option to lower the default saturation and sharpening; they make it look good on a small screen, but definitely look worse when viewed on high res, large screen or printed. Raw mode fixes this but it's obvious the 1020 is better even in raw mode.
      Also, the P30 Pro has those telephoto and wide-angle lenses that make zoomed in or out images have better detail.
      In conclusion, the 1020 is a better camera, but the benefits of having a supported OS with a modern CPU can't be understated; with the 1020 you basically have to carry another phone with you now, so why not just carry a DSLR? Well, at least carrying the 1020 as a dedicated camera can fit in your other pocket, and maps and basic email and web browsing still work so its not a complete loss as an emergency phone. This is why the 1020 is still selling on ebay for $200, which is unheard of for a 6 year old phone with a dead OS; that is how much I spent for my used 1020 on ebay in 2014!

    • @FAT8893
      @FAT8893 5 лет назад

      @@nate_human I don't mind carrying the 1020 around. After all, I left Android for Windows Phone and later on to Windows 10 Mobile some three years ago, so I can live with it. If I ever own an Android phone, it would purely be for mobile entertainment purpose. There is just no effing way I will do my daily communication in Android! Just... no!
      You do have a point about the 1020's CPU, it's just not powerful enough for the camera.
      As with Huawei's algorithm, I never like it. It might look on phone until you view it on a legit screen and pixel peep, where you can actually see what those algortithms had done with oversharpening. It's just a total joke, doesn't make sense at all!
      I can agree with the P30 Pro's triple camera versatility and salute P30 Pro's zoom and low light performance. But now that I am into add-on mobile lenses, a wide angle and a telephoto lens would give the 1020 some versatility. Okay yes, I do have to bring those lens with me, but it's mot much different than a legit DSLR or Mirrorless if you ask me and I wouldn't bring either of them all the time. Heavy camera is one thing, the interchangeable lens is another matter.

    To me it looks like Huawei P30 Pro has slight edge overall. Both seem to be a bit hit-or-miss on the exposure and white balance and Nokia 1020 has a little more potential in daylight from looking at the raw mode photos. However, most higher end phones have usable image quality in daylight already so I'm going to put a lot of weight to low light performance and here P30 Pro wins with a good margin. If only had Huawei done a little better work on auto exposure and white balance. In the future, I'd like to see ISO and exposure time for each shot for each camera.

      An Khang Cao Nguyen This is because they are. The dual processor was a bit of a joke even for 2013, so you don’t use many focusing aids, lest the phone reboot itself. The Huawei phones from P30 and up are ridiculously easy to get great photographs from and Night Mode is insanely powerful!

      @Paul C I'll give credit to P30 Pro for zoom and low light. But not sure about the rest. And I'm not being nostalgic, hardware physics would always beat software computation, no matter how much the tech for computational photography grows.

    • @paulhriir
      @paulhriir 5 лет назад

      @@FAT8893 It's true that "clearly the winer" was a bit overdo cause the overall quality really was very close and very comparable
      And they were equal on the first part i agree.
      The lowlight round went to P30
      And the last picture looked better with lumia
      I just think P30 won. Just not by far

    Ohh you Nokia fanboys!
    Oversaturated colours or oversharpening can be solved in processing, stop making a fuss about that!
    That is what market wants, and this is the law in commerce!
    These are PHONES, not professional photography tools!
    Most people will use those photos for Instagram or personal use, not to make a 2 meter billboard nor open a photo gallery!
    Yes, the picture quality is AMAZING for a 6 year phone, but consider that: for the same price of flagship phone you get a much more versatile camera device! We have normal, wide and telephoto!
    Nokia only had to concentrate on A SINGLE CAMERA! Thanks God they did not scrue that up!
    Overall Nokia is SOFTER (see clouds in boat picture, trees in landscape), slower in night exposure (3 times faster is P30 Pro, and a shaken image CAN'T BE ELIMINATED IN POST PROCESSING!)
    Nokia had a single clear win, in sunset picture, where we can see the contour of the sun, unlike in P30 Pro picture.
    The white balance is debatable because we do not have a reference picture, only our best guess.
    So ... Enjoy your phones, take pictures and be happy that us, mortals, have the opportunity to buy and enjoy this level tech!

    • @FAT8893
      @FAT8893 5 лет назад

      Oversharpening on today's phone is mainly because of the camera's algorithm. Now that pretty much everyone is in the computational photography race, we won't be seeing anymore a phone where the camera's hardware with its big sensor and brilliant optics do the job.
