    On my 2008 Taurus SEL, which has dual zone controls ( the driver and the passenger side each have controls, the right side control is behind the glove compartment. The Dorman part for the right side is 604-253.

      Good idea. His car might not have the dual environmental control. Some Fords used only a single temp control. The ones with dual control has an actuator behind the glove box and another somewhere under the dash on the drivers side according to the shop manual. I think there are also 2 different part numbers.

    • @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC

      It sounds like the actuator on the driver side is stuck. Try putting the A/C on Auto, wait a minute and then go to vents only. If that doesn’t work, switch it to defrost and then back to Auto or vents. What your doing Is trying to get the actuator to move into the correct spot. Good luck.

    I made this replacement back in November, but I had to do it again in January because the clicking sound was back. Now the clicking sound is back again. If this is a recurring issue, is there something beyond the actuator I should be looking into?

    • @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC
      @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC  4 года назад +2

      The replacement parts are not always well made. Check to see if it is the same actuator. If it is, try a different brand next time. The same recurring problem happened to me with a Dodge Challenger until I upgraded to OEM part.

    • @slayera0370
      @slayera0370 4 года назад +1

      The blend door itself might be binding. I found I was able to take apart the old actuator and get the piece that fits the hole and was able to turn it back and forth and felt it turned freely. If yours doesn't move freely you might have a stuck leaf or other garage inside. If not you might try another brand of part.

    Will this help my ac start blowing cold again? I have a 2009 ford Taurus and my heat works perfect fine. When I turn it to the cold it still blows hot air but. Everybody says it my air blendor not lack of air Freon. Reason I’m asking is so I can know if I swap out this part will it fix the problem rather than me going to pay 100$ of dollars

    • @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC

      The actuator is one possibility. Also have the Freon level and compressor checked. Those are the two most likely reasons the A/C is blowing hot.

    Other than the clicking sound, what other symptoms was the car experiencing? I have a 2009 Lincoln MKS that the passenger side temperature will not change. Is this the actuator motor for this or is yours the vent/floor/defrost actuator?

    • @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC
      @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC  5 лет назад

      No other symptoms were present, in other words, everything worked properly with the clicking being the only annoying part. For your situation, it could be the actuator is broken and can’t open the door for the proper transition.

    • @slayera0370
      @slayera0370 4 года назад

      You can run a self-test on the climate controls and it should throw an error code back to you. You can also buy Ford service manuals that will walk you through step by step. You will need a multimeter to test. You have to hit defrost and vent at the same time then hit auto or something like that. You can google it for your car.

    I replaced this same actuator on my 08 Taurus x and it stopped the clicking noise it was making, but it didn't fix the other issue that is it still doesn't blow heat on the passenger side when the heats on but does blow heat on driverside. Any ideas?

    • @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC
      @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC  4 года назад +1

      There are several things that could be wrong, but it might be another actuator is stuck. There are typically three actuators. One is on the driver’s side and the other two are passenger. Also, try switching the controls from defrost (with high fan) to vent to floor and back to vent a few times in the ignition mode. That seems to work on the Ford Edge with the same problem.

    • @melaniehudzinski4185
      @melaniehudzinski4185 4 года назад +1

    HELP! Could this also be why the heat in my car (2008 Taurus X) only gets slightly warm, even after running it for a half hour or more? Also, the vehicle temp gauge seems to work as always, (goes to about the 1/2 way point), with no overheating. And the coolant level check, when the engine is cold, seems full, with no visible leaks or obvious noises, (aside from the clicking under the dash. Thanks

      @@MTPbassist Thanks, Michael, but when I used a laser thermometer on the hoses going into and out of the heater core, there was only about a 10° F temp difference between the two hoses. • @MartinsUsedCarsCollectiblesLLC

      If the air is not blowing out the vents at all, it could be one of the three actuators in the car. If everything seems to be working correctly, then your AC compressor is probably the culprit.
