    Balanced cable does not just get a + shield. The shield of the balanced input and cable is GND (Ground). The balanced cable carrys two audio signal, but one of them is phase-inverted (reversed) relative to the other. When the audio signal reaches the speaker, the phase-inverted signal is inverted back to its original phase and then summed with the non-inverted signal. This process effectively cancels out any common-mode interference, resulting in a cleaner audio signal.

    Hey man. Great video :) I'm looking for a 2.0 set around the £100 mark, and came across the MR4s. I will be gaming and listening to music most of the time, but the other sets you've recommended before for general use, like the 1280T for example, are more expensive (closer to £140). Another consideration is that I may buy a Focusrite Solo for playing guitar, in which case I think I would have to connect via TRS? These speakers just seem like really good value and cheaper than other general purpose sets that have BT, which I don't need. Reckon these are a good fit for my use case? Gaming is the primary consideration for now, I just don't want to have to buy another pair in future if I pick up the Focusrite. Thanks!

      Hi, I have both the 1280DBS (I believe its the digital version of the 1280T) and the 1380DB and I can say that to my ears the MR4 are cleaner and more detailed than both. The 1380DB has richer bass but compared to the MR4, the mids and highs sound veiled. Although the MR4 doesnt have any digital input. I'm guessing the DAC chip that Vlad is referring to is for DSP. The MR4 are CRAZY for the price and the size. They just sound great. Also, I wouldn't bother with music mode. It makes the bass sound worse.

    • @LevelUPGamingTech
      @LevelUPGamingTech  Год назад +2

      In your case no, just use the RCA cable as the connection from PC would still be unbalanced, even if you get like 3.5mm to TRS cables, the connection is still unbalanced. TRS is mostly found on audio interfaces such as Focusrite Scarlett and similar, those have the true balanced output. So all in all you are more than OK to use the included RCA cable 👌

    Yahhhh. Thanks. I just picked up these in white last week with the same s2 stands you happen to be using. I also got a jamo s808 sub to go with them. I don’t really listen to music at my pc, I have a full Sonos Arc Dolby Atmos surround for that and movies. All I do on the pc, as far as sound goes, is game and lots of RUclips. I mostly use a headset at my pc, but would never go without some sort of speakers as I can’t be bothered to put them on every time I want to watch a quick RUclips video. I also sometimes enjoy gaming without headphones bc they can get hot or fatigued after prolonged use. I was running a small Vizio soundbar with a sealed sub at my pc which was pretty good for gaming. I’ve yet to set up the edifiers. I’m excited to try them. They look beautiful on my desk on the s2 mounts. The sub will be here on Tuesday! I probably would have given the edified t5 sub or Kanto sub6 or sub8 a try, but where my space is I need a slimmer sub. The t5, sub6, and jamo all cost the same $149 usd. I also got a nice 15 foot mono rca and rca to 3.5 mm adapter to run the sub via motherboard sub out! It’s gonna be nice.

They are also slightly smaller. Although, white speakers seems to have different shades of white, which is a bit of a let down. I could also get E3.5 from local dealer, so it is easier to return them if there are some issues. It seems that many people have buzzing sound coming from their Edifier's and I cannot accept that on my setup. If E3.5 does the same, I can easily return them.

    • @LevelUPGamingTech
      @LevelUPGamingTech  8 месяцев назад

      Hmmm as far as I remember XLR is like this
      Pin 1 is the ground or shield connection, which provides a path for electrical noise to be safely discharged, there were also a shielding options where on one end it stays soldered and not on the other end, that is for like way too much interferences if you run cables near electrical cables
      Pin 2 carries the positive or “hot” audio signal,
      Pin 3 carries the negative or “cold” audio signal,
      Literally it's the same design for the TRS (balanced) jacks.
      Phase cancelling is a different thing as you said, it happens on the other end of the device (audio interface and such) they have the ability to reverse the polarity and shift phases to cancel noise issues, and guess what that "shield" wire plays a role there in removing the noise in the first place...

  • @Tephnos
    @Tephnos 2 года назад

    Currently using an r1280t on trial. Initial impressions are nice, but I discovered these MR4's exist as well as a newer r1380t (which uses a 1" tweeter instead of the 0.5" found on the r1280t). Have you tried the r1380? I've heard that the clarity is better than on the 1280, which would probably make sense with the larger tweeter. However, user impressions are barely anywhere to be seen since the speaker is so new.
    I see a lot of recommendations for the r1700's as well, but honestly, not my preference. I don't like tilted speakers because then I can't use something like the Kanto S2's to tilt them myself, and bass is always boomier when they're just placed on a desk. You also can't place them midfield because then the tweeter ends up pointing above your head too.
    So, while I'm currently using and enjoying the 1280t's, I have my eyes set on trying out an r1380 or an MR4. What do you think?

    • @LevelUPGamingTech
      @LevelUPGamingTech  2 года назад

      Hmmm interesting question, I see the R1380 are out, looks like a refined 1280 version, and yes you are correct that 1 inch tweeter will add that missing clarity, but in the end they are still music speakers, great ones that is without a doubt. If you are doing some music production or video editing, MR4 will be flat on point, stock calibrated to be precise, if you are up for that type of sound, clarity is there, 1 inch silk dome tweeter, so no issues with clarity. If you are gaming more and listening to music more than productivity go with the R1380 they seem to be a great choice for that.
      On the other hand R1700 are impressive & massive 😏 but that angled position is not for everyone, and as you said you can't use the stand, the only option for them would be a foam dampener only.
      Hope I helped a little 👍
