So where's the proof that you can get hypervitaminosis from liver???? The only documented cases of this for Vit A is via super high synthetic supplements.

    • @MrThatGuyYouForgot
      @MrThatGuyYouForgot 2 месяца назад +5

There's a ton of documentation from cultures that primarily eat animal products like Greenland or among the Inuit. Liver is extraordinarily high in a lot of "fat soluble" (non-polar) vitamins such vitamin A (it's where your primary reserve of vitamin A is) which is eliminated slowly and can build up over time. From some animals it's possible to get a toxic dose from a single (if large enough) meal of liver. Also I know you have been trained to do this, but the right response when you hear a fact you don't like is not to get upset and start demanding "evidence" or "proof". You're already on the internet. If you're interested go find it yourself or contact an expert. And no, for that same reason I am not going to waste my time finding evidence for you. If you were receptive to any evidence you'd just find it yourself.

During the cooking process, macronutrients (proteins, fats and carbohydrates) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids and other beneficial substances) are lost.
    1. Protein (macronutrients)
Proteins denature during cooking, which means that their structure breaks down due to heat. Denaturing proteins affects their digestibility and bioavailability:
Denaturation: heat disrupts the three-dimensional structure of proteins, making them less functional. Although the body can still digest these proteins, it loses some of their natural benefits. For example, the raw proteins in meat or eggs contain natural enzymes that aid digestion. However, after cooking, these enzymes disappear and the body must produce its own enzymes to break down the protein efficiently.
    2. Fats (macronutrients)
Heat treatment of fats can lead to their oxidation, which causes the formation of toxic substances and free radicals:
Fat oxidation: fats, especially unsaturated fats, are very sensitive to heat. When they are exposed to high temperatures, oxidation occurs, leading to the formation of toxic products such as free radicals and advanced glycation products (AGEs). These products cause damage to cells and tissues in the body, contribute to chronic diseases, and accelerate aging.
Loss of essential fatty acids: Cooking also destroys essential fatty acids such as omega-3 and omega-6, which are essential for proper brain and heart function. These fatty acids become ineffective at high temperatures and the body does not benefit from them.
    3. Carbohydrates (macronutrients)
Carbohydrates undergo changes during cooking that can affect their nutritional value and the way the body uses them:
Caramelization and Maillard reaction: when carbohydrates and proteins are exposed to high temperatures, Maillard reaction and caramelization occur. This process can cause the formation of toxic compounds that damage cells and tissues in the body. These compounds are also associated with a higher risk of cancer and other chronic diseases.
    1. Vitamins (micronutrients)
Vitamins are very sensitive to heat, light and air. They break down and degrade rapidly when cooked, which means that the vitamin are greatly lost during cooking.
    2. Minerals (micronutrients)
Minerals are more resistant to heat than vitamins but can be lost during cooking:
Leaching into water: when meat is cooked in water, minerals leach into the water. If water is not consumed (for example, in soups), the minerals are lost. For example, potassium and magnesium, which are important for muscle and heart function, may be lost.
Interaction with other ingredients: some minerals, such as iron and calcium, may interact with other ingredients in food during cooking and become less available for absorption by the body.
    3. Enzymes
Enzymes are crucial for digestion and metabolism and are destroyed at temperatures above 48°C. Raw foods, especially raw meat, milk and eggs, contain natural enzymes that help the body with digestion.
Destruction of enzymes: Cooking food degrades these enzymes, meaning the body has to produce enzymes itself to break down the food, which is energy-consuming. For example, raw meat contains enzymes that begin digesting it in the oral cavity, but these enzymes are destroyed by cooking.
Digestive load: without enzymes in food, digestion slows down and the load on the pancreas and other organs increases, which can lead to long-term exhaustion and decreased vitality.
    4. Amino acids
Amino acid denaturation: cooking can damage some essential amino acids such as lysine and methionine, meaning the body cannot get the full benefit from these proteins. When amino acids are destroyed, the body can't use them to regenerate tissues, make enzymes, and perform other important functions.
Loss of biological value: protein in its raw form has a higher biological value, which means the body can make better use of the amino acids. Heat-treated proteins, while still digestible, have less ability to support tissue growth and regeneration.
Cooking produces: heterocyclic amines (HCAs) These compounds are formed when meat is cooked at high temperatures, such as grilling, frying or roasting. HCAs are associated with an increased risk of cancer, especially colon and stomach cancer. They are mainly formed at temperatures above 150°C, when changes occur in the proteins in meat.
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs): These substances are formed when organic materials are burned, not only when meat is cooked, but also when food is smoked and grilled. They are considered carcinogenic and can cause DNA damage.
Advanced Glycation Products (AGEs): When foods are cooked at high temperatures, especially foods rich in protein and carbohydrates, these substances are formed. AGE products accelerate tissue aging and increase the risk of degenerative diseases, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Oxidized Fats: Heat oxidizes fats, leading to the formation of free radicals. These free radicals damage cells and tissues, which can contribute to the development of chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease and other degenerative problems.

you can't eat liver every day? really? I do. with a small piece of heart, kidney and a lambs brain to break my fast. Pure Cholesterol and all the fats on the spectrum. Everyday. Never felt more alert in my life.
Hypervitaminosis may be an issue for people who are 110% metabolically healthy but for me, for us, there is some very real empty nutrient stores and bodily catchup that needs restoring. What they should be saying is every day but only a small amount in a ratio that represents the body of the animal to the muscle meat consumed. That advice is just an opinion steeped in "not sure" so be conservative and scare people a little.
If you eat " wild caught " anything out of the oceans then equate that to eating out of the local garbage dump, very risky on the risky scale and piss poor advice.
Sodium Chloride is a rock, last time I checked we have ZERO requirement for crushed rocks. Sodium is required which we get from meat but I will challenge anyone that insists the negative anion of Chlorine, which ends up a free radical inside the body is a daily requirement. If you do take rock on your food best practice is to use the Halogen neutraliser Iodine.
I've lived without using salt for over 2.5 years now and I've felt nothing but improvement.
Do not follow blindly, look into every little thing you put in your mouth or spread on your skin and ask questions. Lots of questions. And preferably not to a trained dogmatic medical " professional " who may coddle the incorrect.

Ketones are expelled through the breath and urine in the early stages of ketosis. As the body grows accustomed to being fat adapted, ketones will be used more optimally, and fewer will be excreted (wasted). Therefore, assuming you and your wife are being consistent, then your data shows your wife is simply further along at adjusting to ketone optimization than you are.

Doc, will you do a segment on carnivore and wisdom teeth development/function and movement? i know you're not a dentist, but something tells me that you'll have the ability to dig into this topic where i, the layman (woman) doesn't have access readily. It seems that, like braces, surgically removing wisdom teeth seems the next step for developing teens and young adults. is it REALLY necessary? what about the ancestral ppl who eats meat? did they have to have their wisdom teeth knocked out with a rock or too to prevent "crowding"? is it really a thing or are these issues we see today is ALL related to diet and soft food, low maceration activities from the SAD diet? insights into this topic would be greatly appreciated.

to answer your question briefly, pre-agriculture humans, which ate 85%+ meat in their diet, developed wider jaws which allowed more space for wisdom teeth, meaning they did not have to get them removed because there was more than enough space for them to grow, and would not 'crowd'. issues we see today with peoples dental health comes down to a underdevelopment of the jaw, which is caused by malnutrition and, as you stated, related to diet. Its also been atributed to eating softer food and less jaw usage - eating chewy and tough meat vs eating soft grains or candy. The teeth in pre agriculture humans are deviod of cavities and most didnt have dental health issues, its about balancing the microbiome within your mouth. let me know if you have any other questions.
