    ABOUT Homesteading with PJ!
Hi! I’m PJ, and my family loves the homesteading life! It’s something my wife and I have always wanted to do, but we grew up with ZERO HOMESTEADING EXPERIENCE!!!!! We grew up in beautiful southern California, 15 minutes away from the beach. As amazing as that was, we both dreamed of a life closer to land and animals. After getting married and moving to Utah, our family slowly grew. We had become a family of four living in a townhome with a small backyard filled with potted plants.
In 2019 we dipped our feet into homesteading on 1 ¼ acre lot in Utah. In 18 months we were ready to do this for real. So in 2021 we packed everything up and moved to North Carolina to 12 acres and we love every inch of our homestead!
We raise sheep and have big plans for:
    • grass-fed lamb
    • meat chickens
    • laying chickens
    • heritage breed pork
    • honey
    • vegetable garden
    • perennial food forest
    • and more
I hope you join us on our journey, subscribe and ring the bell if you haven’t yet.

Carnicore for 22 days so far. Went out with my husband and kids to a tearoom. They had hot chocolate and scones, I had coffee and ate the little butter and the clotted cream😂. I was really proud and astonished at the fact that I felt zero craving for their "treats". They looked beautiful but the idea of biting into them was weirdly off-putting. I am a real sugar addict so this is a very welcome new feeling. I'm eating untill I'm pleasantly full and then i can go for hours forgetting about food. The weight is coming off ever so slowly, but it is coming off. Never felt better. Night anxiety, gone. I can think more clearly. Love this

All Great advice! I’d like to add one more piece. I felt like I was force feeding myself beef in the beginning and couldn’t get over the fact that I had come to hate the taste of beef. I used to love beef! I realized that it wasn’t the taste of beef I hated, it was where I was getting the beef. I talked to the manager of the meat department at Kroger and found out that they were buying their beef prepackaged from China. I started buying all my meat from the local butcher shop, and that changed everything. The taste and texture were amazing and every meal became a treat. I then found a regenerative farm in the heart of the poshest neighborhood in Cincinnati. I think you’ll find that the prices are cheaper than your grocery chain store, and the quality of the beef, chicken, and pork. Is a million times better! It’s probably in my head, but when I eat the meat from the regenerative farm, I feel better inside. Good luck to u all on your carnivore journey ❤

This forces me just to focus on how good I feel and that is not only working, but it’s ultimately all that really matters anyway! It is fun to notice that clothes are getting loose but ultimately the feeling good both mentally and physically is what it’s all about and I don’t have to wait a year for that. I got it within the first couple of days and want it to continue. i’m quite certain that I will intentionally weigh myself at some point or accidentally see like a doctors office or something, but I presently have no plans to look anytime soon.

Amazing to see how this has grown. I’ve been carnivore for 7 years and when I started it was pretty much just a fringe movement. Shawn Baker was only posting videos of himself rowing and hadn’t started his company.
One tip you kind of touched on that is extremely helpful, especially to people starting out, is having precooked foods ready at all times. If you’re hungry the thought of having to wait a half hour while you cook something can be enough for people to reach for something else. I always had a plate of chicken in the fridge to heat up at a moments notice. Anyway, good luck. After a certain length of time the other stuff doesn’t even look like food anymore.

@maritaberndt6200 I don't know why you personally are still tired after a couple months, but for me I found I wasn't getting enough electrolytes daily. I started to feel better more often when I uped the amount of electrolytes.
I buy and take electrolytes in pill form, so the rest of the day I just salt my food to my liking.
For my budget LMNT was too expensive for me.
So stay hydrated throughtout the day and up your electrolytes daily, hopefully that is all it is for you.

Just found your video and you are so funny, love it. Especially when you talk about hemeroids, and constipation very real problems that people have or get that really do cause problems. I have had both and I can relate. As a matter of fact, I went on the carnivore because I had a multitude of problems but the worst was gut issues. And I recently found out I have diverticulosis. I hope that carnivore will eventually heal me for that. And don't stop talking about these issues that people get but most don't want to talk about it. By the way, I have been on carnivore now for 6 months on March 1st, 2024. No more gut issues except for the diverticulosis.

If you don’t have electrolytes, just drink straight salt water. It’s yucky, but it works like a charm that first week or two if you suddenly feel like a rag doll. All of the advice in this video is very good. Also they say if you have a craving, eat some fat, like maybe a bite of butter. I also used pork rinds the first two weeks for when I had a craving for crunch. (That is an issue I had with my food addiction-wanting to crunch). And watch tons of inspirational carnivore videos!! My first one was Ferrigno Freedom. His journey of what happened over three years convinced me.

I make my own electrolyte drink with 1/2tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/4tsp sea salt. Your supposed to add sugar for glucose but I suppose you can leave that off with this diet. I think the baking soda and sea slat helps with the minerals rather than just plain salt.

I am one month in and this is great advice, thank you for a fantastic video. I am doing this to try and combat a rare autoimmune disorder, I have been on prednisone for over a year and lament the impacts it has on my system.
Because of the prednisone and the way it leaches calcium, I eat a lot of cheese. Raw milk cheese wherever possible. I have not found any issue with constipation and I’m grateful as it was an issue before going carnivore.
I definitely need to sleep a lot.
So far I have also noticed:
    - brain fog is gone.
    - skin is far clearer and my little plaques/rashes are almost gone.
    - I have developed an aversion to anything sweet tasting and I no longer obsess about food/eating/hunger.
    - I generally sleep extraordinarily well.
    - Even with the prednisone and cheese, I am losing body fat.

Once your body is adapted to using ketones and fatty acids for fuel instead of glucose, a couple of things happen (that are relevant to your question): Your desire for carbohydrates greatly decreases and your mindset changes - you begin to see food for what it should be: nutrition, not something that is there to please us!!...of course there are many carnivore meals we find enjoyable but that is not the motivator.
Many carnivores still meet up with friends and enjoy social events. I guess in the end you have to decide for yourself how important it is for you to reverse health issues and lose weight in the process. How to work around social events etc should be secondary to healing...first thing's first. Good luck. PS Once adapted, some carnivores have 'cheat' days. Others don't because for them it becomes a slippery slope.

I am a foody, I love to cook, so I completely understand where you are coming from.
      - if I’m moody and want food but not a meal, a cube of cheese takes the edge off.
      - You can share a charcuterie board with friends and family (just check the ingredients on any deli meats).
      - Whisps are a great crunchy snack option make exclusively from parmesan and I find you dint need to eat many to get palate fatigue and quit.
      - You can make ice cream from heavy cream and eggs . Add vanilla or coffee if you want. Beef boss has a lovely simple recipe just posted on their channel.
I might get some flack for this as I’m pro-dairy, but I’m not cutting out cheese, it is the hill I will die on. Emni make Swiss and Gruyère from raw milk, you can get them at Costco. I do find that raw milk cheeses taste better than pasteurized milk cheeses.
      I hope that helps!

You will eventually learn to still do the social things. If they get pizza, you get wings, or if they get fries, you eat a burger. For the Super Bowl this year, I just offered to cook and I took shrimp and a keto cocktail sauce, sausage and cheese balls, mini hamburgers, prosciutto rolled cheese, and deviled eggs. It was delicious and everyone else enjoyed the food too.
