Reforming Marriage was my introduction to Doug Wilson about 20 years ago, when I was a mere infant in the faith. To this day it remains one of the most transformative influences in my Christian walk, apart from the gospel of God's Word itself.

This is how my husband and I live too, we live by the gender roles given to us by God. He's the head of the home, but he always includes my opinions in his final decision - he just uses the information and opinions to make the final decisions - he's very good at that. And he's the breadwinner of our household while I take care of the home duties for the most part. Were hoping to have kids soon too so we can expand our family :) We came to realise years ago, through our faith, that women and men are meant to be different - like Doug says - to harmonize. You take the best of both and combine it into perfect harmony. Life becomes so much easier when you look to God and the word of God for guidance in these things :)

There is nothing worst than a woman who says she is closer to God now that she has divorced her husband and broken her marriage. Seen it, I feel bad for the children because they can’t see wrong and right
I have been wondering, how so many Christians can sit and listen to women say those kinds of things. It’s not just that they say they’re “closer to God than they’ve ever been” but also the complete twisting of the definition of abuse. If your husband if a jerk, he’s not abusing you, he’s just a jerk.
I’m not condoning jerk behavior, it’s just hard to sit in a room where jerk behavior is labeled abuse…
There’s also in some cases where “Christian” women marry men who bear no fruit in keeping with repentance, no sign that they are truly saved, and then divorce… because we’ll, they don’t behave as one who is saved. I’m sick of it. It’s scary to watch.
@@cats6541 wow you have been spying on me. That is exactly right. If a man tries to direct the family into a direction his wife doesn’t want to go it’s labeled abusive. It’s completely crazy but they run to pastors with that and the pastor actually recommended a separation due to the woman’s point of view. It’s completely nuts.

Thank you, Pastor Doug. It seems that teaching on biblical sexuality is one of the most neglected topics of Christian practice in local evangelical churches today. This is a much-needed series.
A masterclass in loving God with "all your mind." Thank you for giving us a glimpse of what the church can be like if it will only think through the testimony of Scripture.
I can't dispute or dismiss anything Doug said but sadly we live in a world so far down the post modern (read: post Christian) rabbit hole it will take a couple generations to get back out, if ever. Marriage in today's world has been reduced to a government issued financial contract. A contract that incentivizes women to break the contract. Combine that with the poison of feminism eating away at both men and wmn and you have the wreckage of relationships we see today.
I agree with your assessment of our hopeless state, but it's not quite so bad as that. Christ is the way out, and he doesn't need a few generations to go by to fix things. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Look at the times with the worldwide digital currency, one world religion, wars and rumors of wars, the total breakdown of morals worldwide. We are in the end of the end days right before Jacob's Trouble. We don't know when exactly the Lord will come, but we can see it's so very soon if we have our eyes open. Praying for strength, wisdom, boldness to do the work the Lord Jesus has given us until He comes or we breathe our last and are with Him.

This is how my husband and I live in our marriage ~ We look to God for guidance in gender roles and how to have a healthy marriage :) Men are to care for their wives and women are to obey their husbands. This is why its incredibly important for women to find men of God to direct them in the right way and for men to find women who will follow them (if they're going in the right way - The way God directs us in the bible). It's easier to avoid problems by not marrying someone that isn't rooted in God - because if they are, they will direct (women) in the right way. I think a lot of marital issues comes from people confusing these gender roles, modern day feminism and also people being unequally yoked. You want to marry someone who is also deeply rooted in Christianity, or at least is open to it, that's my advice. And don't listen to all this modern feminism stuff, it sounds good but it's used to create war and tension between genders. The bible gives plenty of guidance on how women and men should care for each other and treat one another, you don't need feminists to do that.
Evolution does explain sexuality, there is fast live history strategy, but there is also slow life history strategy. When you create a strong bond with one woman and form a cooperative community, it tends to win the battle of group selection over polyamerous communities, which are weakend by intermale conflict and are less internally cooperative.
Even by evolutionary theory, what you just said isn't necessarily the case and in some cases polygamy can be superior to monogamy. Depends entirely on other environmental factors which is better.
The main worldly wisdom that so many state as their belief to justify their divorce;
“that God wants us to be happy” Really?! What about the word that says: “who keeps their oath even when it hurts”? Jesus says “that what God has bound together let no one cast asunder.” God hates divorce yet today, somehow, ones own ‘happiness’ has become the primary goal in a marriage relationship and life. I don’t think so.

@silk This is a nod to the format used in C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters
Have you ever read The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis? In that book a demon writes letters to his nephew instructing him on how to corrupt the soul of the human he’s been charged with. Think of this as the opposite perspective of that. Same goal (CS Lewis was of course writing it as a pro-Christian book) just describing righteousness directly rather than indirectly.
The reason is stated in the description.
The evolutionarily derived guitar would indeed have to come together with an absence of intentionality, resulting in an absence of in-tonality. If guitars were like that I’d echo John Lennon, “shoot me”.
P.S. the same can be said of sex.

The state of marriage and sexual relations between men and women is not the result of believing in evolution, rather of the subversion of Christian morality in culture, politics, and law, which has been done intentionally and primarily by an identifiable group of people who have similar sounding names and obvious physiognomy. Divorce, family courts, proud single mothers, women in the work force, emasculization of men, the collapse of the middle class, hypersexualization, all of these are the results of policies and campaigns to turn the Christian culture on its head. You can talk about the symptoms all you want, but the disease has got to be treated.

He has addressed this before. You might try doing word searches on his blog. I especially loved his posts describing clothing and outward presentation as a language that we all speak to some degree. That being said, it’s a sin and needs to be repented of and turned away from. That doesn’t mean women have to be prairie muffins but they do need to be feminine.

Charles Darwin used to participate in seances with the co-creator of Evolution - Wilson. People say that this is what divided them, but the fact that the co-creator of evolution was so invested in seances and the supernatural, seems sort of funny. Maybe they were just not interested in God's spirituality, but were interested in the spirituality of the devil. Makes you wonder how genuine and truthful evolution is when at least one of its creators, if not both, were believers of spirituality and the supernatural. I say maybe both because it is said Darwin wasn't a believer of the supernatural - but he did participate in the seances.

I mean... I don't think that intersex is an issue. People are born man and woman and this is something DW focuses on, but there are still eunuchs for the lord. That doesn't mean that this isn't important and shouldn't be one of our big focuses in worship. If you were born intersex then it has been made clear that this is not the way you in particular are to serve God. Just because mute people exist and the Bible is focused on singing and proclaiming his glory with our voices in a lot of parts, doesn't mean that mute person is punished. There is a world of other ways to worship and honestly it's just about giving everything to God and storing our treasures in heaven. All of that does not however take away the stress and importance of sexuality.
Corrupted genes as a result of sin. It goes all the way back to Adam and Eve. It's not God's will for corruption to happen but He knew it would and He has a plan to redeem mankind by Himself coming to Earth in the form of a man. Jesus Christ, the Word of God became flesh and He died for all sinners, was buried and rose again. Today anyone who is convicted of their sin, and then trust in the blood of Jesus Christ that He died for their sins was buried and rose again, can be saved from Hell and become a new creature in Jesus Christ. It's glorious! Praise God!!

This by no means undermines your argument amount needing a bibically based relatinship, but I don't know whyyou assume that all negotiations must have a winner and a loser. The point of capitalism is that mutually beneficial agreements are possible. Even if I were superior in every way to a particular woman (I earn more money than her, build houses better than her, repair broken items better, cook better, clean better, am a better parent, and she is otherwise objectively inferior in every category we can test), even then "comparative advantage" as described by Adam Smith ensures there is still some mutally beneficial arrangement she and I could make in which I wind up beting better off sharing my productivity with her in exchange for her doing the same with me, as opposed to me just going it alone. There are "cooperative games" in the language of game theory and not just zero-sum games.
All negotiations by necessity have a winner and a loser. No matter how small.
@@choicemeatrandy6572 Let's say I am poor and homeless, but I am a skilled plumber. To imptove my life I go to a plumbing company and they agree to hire me. I get paid a wage and can escape poverty and homelessness. They get the services I provide which they can use to satisfy their customers' needs. Who lost? If I lost, why would I accept employment with them (I am free to say no if I want to). Only socialists think there is a loser there.

That said, The Mythology of Science by R. J. Rushdoony has opened my eyes to the havoc the religion of evolution has wrought upon civilization. I really had no idea. Worth reading.
I'd say Evangellyfish is better at the novel level, but Ride Sally Ride is definitely better for the times we're in.
