  • Y'all have been asking me to do one of these 'What I Eat in a Day' videos for a long time, so here we go!! I say this in the video, but I'm going to say it again here: what you are about to see is how I eat while training for a very specific role and body. My body. There are definitely some choices that I would highly recommend regardless, such as avoiding processed food, but you need to eat the right amount of calories, and the right balance of food groups for YOUR goals, and YOUR body.

    Thank you again for being honest about your diet, and making sure to explain it is NOT a healthy one, and that this restrictive regime is a choice for a part - your job, but not how you would normally eat.

      Thank you so much for your comment and watching the video. I just want to clear up one thing. This “diet” isn’t unhealthy. It’s restrictive but the food choices are extremely smart healthy ones. The only reason I clarify this is to make sure you don’t see the food choices and think you cannot enjoy them yourself. ❤️

      @@KateeSackhoffOfficial you're right. The food voices are healthy, and you do a good job explaining your various clean choices. I appreciate that.
      My point about 'unhealthy' goes more to the very limited supply of calories, particularly healthy carbs like whole grains or sweet potato (for ex.). You mention yourself that on a 'normal' diet, you would add oats or more healthy fats and proteins.
      So yeah, that nutritionist will not love this because a healthy diet requires carbs and fats. But you have a goal, you are aware of your choices, and you know that it is not a long term regime. So again, thank you for that. I love honest and raw you are, and I appreciate the fact that you bother to clarify these things.

      @@cathrinagroiss604 Actually, I rather like the Institute of Medicine's phrasing from their Dietary Reference Intakes for Energy, Carbohydrate, Fiber, Fat, Fatty Acids, Cholesterol, Protein, and Amino Acids: "The lower limit of dietary carbohydrate compatible with life apparently is zero, provided that adequate amounts of protein and fat are consumed." Most nutritionists do not like this because those that take the Registered Dietician exam are forced to answer otherwise to pass the test (RDs confuse glucose requirements with glucose intake - your body can provide all the requirements needed via EGP (endogenous glucose production), GNG (gluconeogenesis), and in the case of the brain, ketones (which can provide up to 2/3rd's of the brain's energy requirements).

      Usually they keep it around when it first releases, then take it off from recommended so you may have missed it if they released another series around the same time. I remember watching it when it first came out because it was in the “coming soon” tab so I just added a reminder.

    I also have hemochromatosis. Unfortunately I wasn’t diagnosed until I was near liver failure. I started overloading after a hysterectomy for hemorrhage. I also have many diagnoses. I have autoimmune issues including hashimotos thyroiditus. I noticed you mentioned thyroid meds. Kudos for doing such a good job at managing it all! It’s been a struggle for me since 1994. It’s been extremely difficult but I also manage with diet. Good luck on filming. I’m so glad they renewed it!

    I just wanted to thank you for making this video. Seeing this video has been so encouraging to someone like me. I’m overweight and have been dieting at 1200 calories a day and I feel like I’m just starving almost all the time. The scale is going down but I’m worried that this won’t be sustainable overtime and eventually I’ll be so hungry I will just binge eat. Seeing that you have a higher calorie goal for each day and you still lose weight is so encouraging to me. And I love how you don’t count vegetables in your totals. I think I would eat a lot more vegetables if I wasn’t so worried about adding calories to my low daily count. I didn’t realize until I watched your video how much I avoided eating more vegetables because I was so worried about not going over my calorie count. I think adding more vegetables would really help fill me up too. Honestly how you ate in your video looked so filling and delicious. This video has been somewhat freeing to me because I’ve been so restrictive. This video proves that losing weight doesn’t have to be miserable. I would honestly be happy eating all the food you made in this video. This has been so eye opening to me. Thank you so much. ❤️

    I adore these videos! Food prep is so important when you are tracking and I love your take on NOT really tracking veggies. Thats such a healthy way to look at it. Make you grab the veggie before all the 'healthy' prepackaged food. :)

    It's always educational to see what actually goes into getting ready for a role when acting. Also when dealing with medical ailments, all we viewers normally see is the edited end products.     I live for the little frothers! I throw a little creamer and collagen in my coffee(I am not good at getting enough protein so collagen it is) and it whips it brilliantly. But I also use the little frothers to whip up salad dressings. Theres always like 3 or more Ikea frothers floating around my kitchen drawers!

    I made myself those banana eggs for breakfast (along with a protein shake) and mhmmm! So good! I added a little sprinkle of coconut sugar but totally didn't need it with a very ripe banana.
    I watched your video of getting in shape for Another Life before covid hit and it really made me realize that if I want to see results I need to get serious about my food. No more excuses! Oh and drinking all the water!

    I have to tell you I just discovered your Channel. You are just so refreshing and real and I really appreciate all of your humor! Don't worry about anybody attacking you so that taking care of yourself the way that works for you. I will never be in films and so don't worry about my looks as far as that but I'm just looking for some healthier ways of eating and working out. My husband I had to give up Dairy too as we developed some pretty serious side effects. Thanks for all of your hard work! I appreciate you sharing your life with us and you are just so dang funny! Bless you for taking such good care of your older dog. Sadly a lot of owners would have their dogs euthanized but they deserve a good life too bless you

    First...even though the content of this video is great and I took notes and intend to try and duplicate everything...you had me when I saw the Longmire thermos.     You can really eat more actually on the same caloric intake if you know how to combine different ingredients. That way you will get to increase the volume of food. You have to get rid of a lot of the condiments that have so many calories in them for no reason, rather than taste. But you can free up to 300 calories or more if you remove or switch some of them and you can free the caloric budget for one more meal at least. I'm at the moment at 1250 calories, eating 5 meals and intermittent fast for about 20 hours a day. I'm also a nutrition, fitness, and wellness coach. So I don't have to prepare for a role but I do have to look my best all the time. And being satiated is very important to me, also getting all the protein in, the necessary fats and carbs for normal hormone levels at the same time. There's a lot to that. So in my professional opinion, you can optimize your diet a lot more Katee with the same calory budget.

      You fast for 20 Hours a day? How do you fit in 5 meals in 4 hours? I may be misunderstanding a little here. Glad you have found something that works for you. That’s the real goal right? As you can see in the video I already don’t use a lot of condiments if any really. I water down my dressings for my salads as well. I do use good fats like ghee and avocado because fat is incredibly important to me and I’ve found vital to staying satiated for me personally. We seem to know a lot of the same tricks of the trade so to speak. Thanks for watching and providing your thoughts! 👍🏻 Have a great day.

      @@KateeSackhoffOfficial Hi Katee 😊 I do fit them. It's like doing OMAD basically, but I eat several meals one after the other. That might sound like a lot but it feels me up and I kill all cravings and I'm satiated. Where if I eat within an 8-hour window for instance, as I did before, I am a lot more hungry and always thinking about my next meal. Now when I eat in 2 parts in the span of about 2 to 3 hours, 4 tops I know that, when I am done for the day, I am done. And I can drink only black coffee after and water. I also fit at least 10 000 steps and train at home with weights, pull up bar, and resistant bands. I make a ton of recipes that are high volume and low calorie to help me out, like protein cake that is a 127 cal a piece, pudding cremes with stevia, protein pancakes, lavash bread with protein cheese, lean meat, low-calorie ketchup and many more delicious things to keep me full and to get all the macro and micronutrients in. I also had some issues with my period before, but I fixed it with 5 eggs a day, then a lower them to 4. No issues for months now. As you said, fat is very important, especially for hormone levels, so that's why I choose eggs. They have all the necessary fat and the body recognizes is, since the egg is a full organism. It also contains some hormones that are very well assimilated thought the fat and cholesterol they have. So they benefit the body in a very complete way. And to me at least, it makes no sense to use other sources of fat on top of the eggs' fat. Except for lower fat butter, 2/3 grams of that in the pancake mix. But Ghee is great for that purpose too.🤗

    Totally with Katee on how eggs should be cooked. I can't eat them if they're runny, just can't.

      hes wrong, runny scrambled eggs are yuck...scrambled eggs are to b reasonably dry...i do like a runny yolk sunny side up though

    As a retired Deputy Sheriff, I really enjoyed Longmire and you in it ! We had several female deputies who were bad ass too ! (rural ga. ) in the early days, we wore Stetsons which the dept issued ! I also enjoyed you in your new show, been patient waiting on season 2. If you weren't in it ... no watch for me :) I do like all your vids too ! I am 66 now, still keep a strict diet and exercise

    Don't know if you have tried this but since you eat so many veggies, divert some of your scraps, from prepping them, into a big gallon zip lock or container in your freezer... when it is full boil it up as veggie stock and freeze in containers of a size that you would use normally (quart or smaller).

    I just love you and your realness, your humor, all of what you share with us!! I am so excited to try some of what you said in this video!! I love dairy and gluten, but they viciously hate me...and honestly, at 36, it's about dang time I quit eating things that make me feel so horrible, inside and out! I have hypothyroidism that I'm managing with supplements, and need to drop the weight that I gained from my 2nd right hip surgery(PAO), in order to prepare for my total hip replacement..-_-.. I really appreciate you sharing so much of your life with us. And honestly...i used to poop like 3 to 5 times a day until I hit 18...-_-...I actually love prunes, I am SO adding that to my list...along with nutpods, more vegetables(im half Korean, I really do eat a lot already, but more can never hurt!!), and actually keeping a calorie count to meet my goal. Thank you thank you!! Safe travels you two!!🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖
