Definitely on Another Life, but technology and SM only affect you if you allow it to. Most of the personal issues that Katee delt with seem to be based on needing validation of other. Which is the problem with SM...
I love any chance to see Katee and I don't think the issue was with the cast, but I felt the characters were written to be too incompetent to be on a space mission and it felt to me like there were too many desperate attempts to cover up the bad writing with sex scenes, but I'm asexual, what do I know? I do wonder though if that's easy to say as a viewer and maybe IRL people would be that incompetent in that situation. It's kind of like with Prometheus where you know you're watching sci-fi horror so people do things that look stupid to the viewer who knows they are watching sci-fi horror but if you were there in the moment not knowing you are in a sci-fi horror story maybe you would act similarly. I still hope there is a second season and they do better. Sometimes it takes time for series to get their footing. Worst case I get to see more Katee. :)

It affects different people to different degrees, but once viewed, you can't "unsee" a nasty comment or a face that disturbs you. The feeling is immediate. I left fb & social media because I am a bit of an empath & so much was just, well, upsetting. I don't need to welcome/allow upsetting/nasty/mean stuff in my life. I just don't (BTW, it made my life better.)

Vern Ripley I totally agree with what you have said. Nobody and I mean nobody should ever feel less than, especially Katee. She truly inspires all. I try really hard not to compare myself to others. If there is something I want to change about myself, I will change it for myself and not for someone else. As Katee once told me, “There is no one else like you”. 🙂

I was getting so sick to death of reading how someone ate an apple for lunch or how their child got a trophy for coming last. I just wanted to go back to actually talking to friends and family instead of reading online on Facebook how they were doing. You know what, you're right when you said that everyone is thinner or has a better life than you and Im in the same situation as you. So, why torment myself with seeing their posts (even though I know deep down their life is really no better than mine). Its time to reconnect with my true friends and my family and you know? Waze is awesome so I feel your pain. I used it so much I placed in the top 50 (in points) in my state... and I could care less about social media. I really don't use it... mainly for business.
I left all social media 7 months ago and when I struggled to do that I knew I was doing the right thing. I have had many family and friends try to get me back on social media and I just tell them I’m much healthier for not being on them and if it’s important in their mind that I know something then they can call me and talk to me about it. It’s ironic that social media was suppose to be the purpose to help connecting with others but it really doesn’t do that. Glad to see you give it a try and realize the things I’ve learned.

I'm 25. 3 Years ago I deleted all my social media and quickly realized how much better my life was for it. I've noticed just how much of the world i was missing due to technology. The hardest part about not having social media is keeping up with my friends when all of them use social media to communicate, with that said when I actually get to hang out or talk to my friends there is so much more to talk about. So really, abandoning your electronics is almost a simulation of having died. Those to whom you are not important will forget you, yet others will mourn for a while that you are no longer one of them, etc. I bet you could find a parallel for all of the reactions to a friends passing. I am not tethered to technology other than my gaming addiction.
72 hours without electronics...except for the cameras, landline, etc... Talking to virtual people into a camera vs talking to virtual people on Facebook...what's the difference? There isn't any. There's so much to do: All the at-home stuff that needs to be done. Pre-plan your meetings with friends. Play with the dogs. Do a home improvement project. Read an actual book. Go to the movies. Cook and invite friends over. Go to the beach. Take a hike. Go to the observatory.
What I do is I do not sleep with the phone in the bedroom. It sits out in the living room. As for social media, I do spend more time on FB than one should but I dont really look at what people are doing. Most of the stuff I look at is funny, humorous stuff. And because my family lives a couple hundred miles away it allows me to keep in touch. As for the emails, texts and calls. 99.9% is crap. Of course, I am not you who has a career that requires you to be more assessable. But as an actor, you are more susceptible to the pitfalls of comparing yourself to others. I for one think you are fucking magnificent and hope for your happiness. But me being some random mook on the interwebs I know that what I think don't mean shit at the end of the day. Anyways, you keep being you in all your magnificence.

I fast from social media every year for lent. In 2018 I got rid of everything except YT, IG & Twitter. I stopped using Twitter 2 months ago bc it has become so toxic. So I decided I am going to delete 1/1/21 and start 2021 off right.

I look at Twitter and or FB and I find myself tearing up or full on crying. I need to take a break from those 2 platforms for my mental and physical health for a while. Being 15 years older than you I have done this challenge a few times over the years. I never really got in the social media aspect of comparing my life to anyone else's but I sure didn't miss the multiple interruptions to my day. At least you still have both your parents and real social life of family and friends. I always think of the people who don't really have a social life outside of electronics. I did enjoy seeing you get by without advanced electronics. Before I retired I used to tell people that I won't use my cell or computer after 8pm Friday until 8am Monday and contact me with landline. You, me and I would think most people need a reset just like our electronics do every once in a while. Thanks for doing and posting this. Best wishes on future non electronic endeavors.

I spent over a year without a smartphone. You should try this during the holidays, is absolutely mind blowing! Not going to spoil it in case you do it. Trust me, is an eye opener.
Love the video and idea. I, too, have the bad(?) habit of immediately checking my phone and wasting 30 minutes when I wake up. It all starts with the alarm (phone). I may change that. Oh yeah. I could get out of the bedroom an hour sooner if I would NOT pickup the iPad. Less so the phone (android). At night I'll roll over and get a sudden glare in the face because my wife woke up and started reading on her phone again. For an old fart who was a kid before cable or any of this stuff, but a bit of a tech type, I could get a lot more done in my life if I'd stay off the computer, etc.. Also save money because it's just too easy to surf Amazon or eBay and go, "Oh, I probably need (want) that." Appreciate putting things into context regarding actual human connections.

I did this in vacation in key west and felt so liberated! Funny how I did miss carrying phone for a quick picture or to find out if a place is open. I loved being disconnected from the constant notifications. I now look when I can and able to answer or delete. 😀

I left Facebook two years ago, literally changed my life, started to “live” again. Better relationships, better at work, more content with myself.
She has such a sweet personality, I've liked her ever BSG first premiered!

I fast from social media every year for lent. In 2018 I got rid of everything except YT, IG & Twitter. I stopped using Twitter 2 months ago bc it has become so toxic. So I decided I am going to delete 1/1/21 and start 2021 off right.

I'm a little older, why didn't you get rabbit ears and have over the air TV? I remember life before cable. I did love this video, and as a trucker, couldn't imagine being close to as productive without a GPS and smartphone. I did it in the late 80's and dread the day everything goes dark

This video hits the me in the heart and brain, especially right now. I’m dealing with depression and other than postpartum I haven’t had before. I look at Twitter and or FB and I find myself tearing up or full on crying. I need to take a break from those 2 platforms for my mental and physical health for a while. I am guilty of thinking someone like you who plays such strong female characters must have her crap together. Thanks for revealing that you struggle too at times, it helps to know that. Being 15 years older than you I have done this challenge a few times over the years. I never really got in the social media aspect of comparing my life to anyone else's but I sure didn't miss the multiple interruptions to my day. At least you still have both your parents and real social life of family and friends. I always think of the people who don't really have a social life outside of electronics. I did enjoy seeing you get by without advanced electronics. Before I retired I used to tell people that I won't use my cell or computer after 8pm Friday until 8am Monday and contact me with landline. You, me and I would think most people need a reset just like our electronics do every once in a while. Thanks for doing and posting this. Best wishes on future non electronic endeavors.

Oh yeah. I could get out of the bedroom an hour sooner if I would NOT pickup the iPad. Less so the phone (android). At night I'll roll over and get a sudden glare in the face because my wife woke up and started reading on her phone again. For an old fart who was a kid before cable or any of this stuff, but a bit of a tech type, I could get a lot more done in my life if I'd stay off the computer, etc.. Also save money because it's just too easy to surf Amazon or eBay and go, "Oh, I probably need (want) that." Appreciate putting things into context regarding actual human connections.

I did this in vacation in key west and felt so liberated! Funny how I did miss carrying phone for a quick picture or to find out if a place is open. I loved being disconnected from the constant notifications. I now look when I can and able to answer or delete. 😀
