Circling back around after listening to this about a year and a half ago, just shared this very insightful discussion to my brother who wants to be a minimalist and move into the van life. At 18:00, I just offered him this perspective, one of the many nuggets Jay shared. "Detachment is not that you own nothing. Detachment is that nothing owns you." "To me, that summarizes detachment in a way it's not usually explained. Usually people see detachment as being away from everything. Actually the biggest detachment is being close to everything, and not letting it consume and own you."
In one of the interviews, the Dalai Lama was asked why he used a computer when he shouldn't be leading a materialistic life and he answered about detachment. Such wisdom.

Through closely monitoring the performance of my portfolio, I have witnessed a remarkable growth of $508k in just the past two quarters. This experience has shed light on why experienced traders are able to generate substantial returns even in lesser-known markets. It is safe to say that this bold decision has been one of the most impactful choices I have made recently.

Best example & the greatest inspiration is the Greatest teacher that ever lived Jesus Christ just follow his teachings rather than follow a monk & you will find true happiness!!
This interview has been life changing. The two of you have poured so much wisdom & inspiration into my heart. Thank you!!! “Making wisdom go viral” THAT is incredible!!!

I'm 44 and searching and STILL searching for my purpose and I think this video will help me get started on that path!!! Thank you to Tom and Jay for doing what you do, so that the world can be enhanced. I'm still trying to get there.
I'm 31, I do have a passion (writing poetry) but I've learned that no life is perfect. You do what you do with what you have. But you must have faith in yourself and listen to your gut, listen to your heart. Do not let doubt or fear take over. I have a serious stuttering condition and I'm 80% deaf. I'm still trying to find a fulfilling job and it took me the best part of my life to accept that I'm probably going to be single for life. The most important part of any journey is starting it. Wish you the best. You can do it!
@@gigliolabottasandez8037 Right now, I don't have a facebook page or website. I try to limit the amount of time I spend online and using social networks. I'm happier this way, without comparing my life to other's. I also stopped sharing the art I do (at least for now), and I stopped doing it because I was tired of doing it for the likes, just for impressing others at my own expense and at the expense of the joy that I had. That being said, I'm copiling a poetry book and I plan to publish it next year. I can translate of my poems for you. I wrote it almost 13 years ago but it's still one of my favorites (I'm portuguese, I write mainly in portuguese and I haven't been practicing my English that much, so pardon me for any error or mispelling). THE OTHERS THAT I AM I look outside and I see Indefinable figures. No concept can ever describe them, These are things that ascend To the plateau of impossibility. I get bored fast watching speakers speak however, I couldn’t stop watching this! You guys make a great team, loved the questions and loved the answers. Super dope, now on my way to watch more of Jay Shetty. Thank you 🙏🏼
Ikigai. Finding my purpose and passion. Intersection of four areas. What am I good at? What do I love? What does the world need? How do I get paid for it?" Finding the intersection, you make your passion your purpose. I find my skill- set and I engage other people to become better at it. So I am becoming better at what I am good at, and I am using it to help other people. Thats self- awareness. The other part is, I enjoy helping people. I enjoy serving people. I have to notice what I enjoy about that, and what I enjoy helping people with.

So before I typed this I had to take a deep breath... Wow. This is my first encounter watching Jay in an interview and my gosh, he just oozes clarity. Everyone has there own unique style and I very much respect this, Jay style just seems to calm me mentally and make me think about my why, about my purpose. Thank you for this great interview and for the show.
I’ve watched several interviews on this channel now, which I just discovered recently. But I must say Jay Shetty is one of the most intelligent and eloquent interviewees I’ve seen on this channel. Especially at his age, his wisdom seems boundless. Very inspirational character, and I’m intrigued to learn more about his approach to the mind and life.
I definitely learned and was seriously entertained. I've never heard of Jay but I was captivated with the passion both Tom and Jay showed. I could have listened to them talk to each other all night! This was the first time I took notes! Thanks IT! that was great, loved it!
Took notes too! I decided to become a student and really get schooled on these principles and beliefs of the guests Tom has on his show. He is truly helping others get out of the Matrix. I am studying with Tom on the daily.
Thank you so much for this video. Sending so much love to everyone out there watching! Keep following your passions, you will find your purpose! Let's go! 💛
When people they offer an advice and try to help people, they don't need an interview to show who they are, did u hear all the conversation???? He give advices and he speak about how much he suffered and being a monk is beautiful he learned a lot while he had someone to listen to him and lift him up higher than he imagine and its jesus
When I saw it’s 53 minutes I said to my self oh it’s too long , Nd then in the end I’m seeing sht why it finish too fast 😭😭 amazing interviewer and amazing gust
their conversations together are always so damn good, but I realized this because they're both very very active listeners. I feel that when you give time people to complete their thought and actually listen in between the lines of what the speaker is saying, is where we see that the conversation can propel forwards with not only meaning but great great impact. Hands down amazing.
Around and after 30:00 when Jay Shetty talks about "system 1" and "system 2" (concepts from the book "Thinking Fast and Slow" that he mentions ~ 30:30), this reminds me very much of how Terry Pratchetts describes the mind of a witch in "A Hat Full of Sky" (disc world, book 34). Also this has much in common with Buddhism and Stoicism. I like how this idea is spread :)
Wow. Today was a tough day for me. Feeling lost and depressed and anxious and uneasy. Think it all came at once and this video just gave me a slight nudge making me feel better. So thank you
I love your videos and blogs. I can tell you are a very passionate person. I also have been on a path of selfdiscovery, and finding my happy place. I feel like you are on a higher level of discovery, and I would love to call you a friend. God bless you.
my mind just blown watching this video... how can someone has so much clarity about his thoughts....it takes huge amount of practice but it looks so natural in case of you...love and respect...
24:56- 25:13 In the greatest Indian epic Mahabharatha , the author Veda Vyasa audaciously claims that “there is nothing in this world that you do not find in Mahabharatha , and everything tha you find in Mahabharatha is what you see in the world” यदिहास्ति तदन्यत्र यन्नेहास्ति नतत क्वचित …and Bhagavadgeetha is from Mahabharath as well…
Bhagwat Geeta is the book which guides you in life. It was orated to the warrior Arjuna by Lord Krishna when became hesistant to do his karma as a warrior. Before Arjuna stood his relatives as enemies!
I’m about 19 minutes in, and I’m just loving Jay Shetty more and more. What a fascinating, incredible human being. I love how he explains things in a way that makes sense to me. Very inspiring.
So many takeaways here! Of all the interviews you have done, I connected the most with what Jay Shetty has to say. Hard to pick a favorite thing about this interview, but his goal answers the question that always burns in my mind about how to reach people, but especially the young people. I have a 16, 18 and 20 year old finding their way in a world of distractions and addictions all around them, while asking who they are, what they want and what they have to offer this world. Thank you, thank you, thank you for introducing me to Jay Shetty btw, watched this with my 18 year old son and he watched start to finish, no words until the end ;) Excellent!
26:50 thats what i also know and believe, The Bhagwat Geeta says everything relevant to science and more than a science becasue science is still finding answers of so many things.
I was waiting for this one so impatiently. Saw story on instagram, it got me exited. But, the thing is; I was expecting the episode to be great, but it even overcame my expectations! Jay is amazing, and Tom really knows to get the best out of interview! Once again, a lot to learn, a lot to model. I can't find enough of "great" people in my surroundings, that's why I love this show and Tom!
I appreciate your approach to teaching.. To my understanding this just proves how much we need an edge as investors because playing the market like everyone else just isn’t good enough, we just need to hold onto our hopes and wait to see how things turn out because market movements are almost always unpredictable. In my portfolio, I'm noticing more red than green.
As with an my big financial decision,it’s important to keep your guard’s up for economic risks. However, smart planning, time management and seeking advise from a financial adviser can help keep you and your money safe...

He is so wise beyond his years. I love the Charles Cooley quote he shared, “Today, I am not what I think I am, I am not what you think I am, I am what I think you think I am.” Powerful insight, very uplifting message. 1. Being exposed to unique experiences & role models. 2. Take it seriously, shadow, network, observing & learning. 3. Yes, or No? Is this lifestyle for me? Consider the process & not just the result.
I just wanna say that this video I watched when I was in 10th grade...helped me. Changed me. I am now graduated and in the US. NAVY. The key words that helped me that I can still remember was "Quiet your mind". It helped me get through scary things I didn't think I could do.. I can't thank this video enough. It gave me inspiration and brought me to activate things in my life that I never thought about before.. I hope this awakens things within others in the way it awakened things in me.. I just wanna say "Thank you Tom Bilyeu and Jay Shetty for this."
Honestly, I've been watching this channel for a while now and love seeing people I recognise pop up on it, always insightful, always inspiring. But nothing has ever resonated with me more than this interview, Jay constantly mentioned things I have been thinking about so long and hard for so much time now; I'm at university so still stuck in the gears of the education system but man did this give me hope. Couldn't have found someone who seems to align with what I want to find more than Jay does. Genuinely so excited to find out more.

43:57 Following this part of the video has helped me get my first girlfriend, and it is amazing! I LOVE the way Jay answers this problem. So true!! For years I have struggled to find someone who I can share a passionate relationship with, because I was too self-focused. I didn't make a list of who I wanted to be. I only focused on kind of person I wanted to be with. After I read the book, Start With Why, I discovered why I wanted a relationship, despite that the book was written for business. I wanted a relationship because I know it'll make me grow as a person, and I want someone who I can deeply serve, and someone I can serve others with. That desire didn't come from anybody else's opinion, but from my inner gut. 3 weeks after I found my Why, I met a wonderful girl who is now my first girlfriend, and we have a wonderful relationship with more passion than I ever dreamed of. Thank you Jay for sharing this!! You're touching so many lives!!
When I take a break from work, because my eyes are sore, Impact Theory is my first stop. Wow! This man is so clear and beautiful, like stunningly beautiful energy. I guess a few years spent with monks would do that to a person? In 2015, I sat in the staffroom and looked at people 10, or 20 years ahead of me and quickly started hatching an exit plan and left a few months later. It's a powerful question to consider. I couldn't say this back then, but now I can say I have 'head, heart and hand' in check. I'm keen to buy a copy of the decanted Bhagavad Gita, so consider the first copy sold already. OOooooh positively impacting a billion people, I like the sound of that. I'm so excited for the two of you to synergise your visions in a practical way. I can just see it! F.Y.I I just learnt and was entertained at the same time.
Great energy flowing from your comment Thalia Kate. I could just feeeeeeeeeeeeeel it. HE DOES OWN AN ASTONISHING MIND NOURISHING ENERGY. CAN I GET AN AMEN TO THAT?
The first copy of the Bhagavad Gita sold. Hilarious. You can actually get a pdf or a physical copy given to you at any airport in the world. You have probably turned it down when the Hare Krishnas have tried to hand you one. The Gita is not read, it is absorbed and studied. Good luck!
a few years with monks can teach you how astute methods and cunning tactics of persuasion they can use to fool others , with sweet words and feeble promisies

Do you mind sharing info on the adviser who assisted you? I’m 40 now and would love to grow my stock portfolio and plan my retirement.

31 and still looking. Still so lost!
I understand I'm 43 now 44 in January I am on this path now and grateful for my journey

THE OTHERS THAT I AM
I look outside and I see
Indefinable figures.
No concept can ever describe them,
These are things that ascend
To the plateau of impossibility.
They are shadows,
Shadows of light,
Ethereal creations.
They are what they are
And what they are not
And all the leftovers realities
In this world, invisible.

I am studying with Tom on the daily.

their conversations together are always so damn good, but I realized this because they're both very very active listeners.

I appreciate your approach to teaching.. To my understanding this just proves how much we need an edge as investors because playing the market like everyone else just isn’t good enough, we just need to hold onto our hopes and wait to see how things turn out because market movements are almost always unpredictable.

The first copy of the Bhagavad Gita sold. Hilarious. You can actually get a pdf or a physical copy given to you at any airport in the world. You have probably turned it down when the Hare Krishnas have tried to hand you one. The Gita is not read, it is absorbed and studied. Good luck!
