Truck was already in motion for those of you that have never driven a semi truck we can’t stop on a dime like maybe a car , the trooper should have been a little more careful just cause they have lights and sirens dose not give them the right to drive carelessly,
Having driven emergency vehicles and tractor trailers, that truck driver likely didn't hear the trooper's siren until right before the impact, far too late to do anything, and with the trooper reportedly traveling at 70 mph the driver likely didn't even have the opportunity to clearly see the lights until it was too late to do anything. In summary: not at fault, not preventable. Every state where I have operated emergency vehicles has required that in order to proceed through a red light the driver of the emergency vehicle must do so with care and caution so as to not cause danger to others. At times, that has meant I needed to proceed through an intersection one lane at a time, waiting for the drivers who had the green signal to yield to my emergency vehicle before proceeding.

I moved to the left lane in a two lane, to avoid a broken down truck on the right lane shoulder, when Amazon was 4 truck lengths behind me in the right.
Cherries and berries going don't make you invincible. A cop running highspeed on surface streets in the city still has a responsibility to be aware of civilians and the dangers of possibly hitting and killing someone. Looking at the video the cruisers break lights didn't come on until about a second before impact. That tells me the cop wasn't even looking at the intersection and was distracted while driving at high speed. The cop didn't even see that HUGE truck crossing his path and that's why the cruiser hit the trailer a little past half way down. It's the cops fault hands down.
A truck driver is also responsible for watching for emergency and police vehicles at an intersection. And since the light was red in the truck driver's lane? The truck driver's at fault for the accident.

Do you not see how many gas stations and businesses have flashing lights at night? They all blend in. Response drivers are told it is their responsibility to make sure intersections are clear no matter color of lights. In most places unless in active pursuits it is against police policies to speed. Ambulance and fire are NEVER allowed to exceed the speed limit.
Police cop fault, I seem many times police getting a call and they always slow down the speed in the intersections. So this was one of those reckless cop.
Was an ambulance driver for many many years and the one thing we always had remember is lights and Sirens made of okay for us to break the laws but if we had an accident when doing so it was our fault. Lots of people are going to go off and call me crazy but there's only one vehicle that truly has the right away at all times and that one vehicle is the US mail😂

Either the officer turned on the cherries and berries right before the intersection or the lights were obscured. There wasn’t any time to stop for the truck driver. They could’ve tried but then still would have been struck in the battery box or driver side fuel tank. If you roll through the beginning of the footage you’ll notice the cops lights flashing on the sign. Truck was rolling too fast to even make an abrupt stop.
Hard to say who's at fault. I drove emergency vehicles for years, and we were trained to be sure that intersections were clear before going through them. Yes, the troopers lights were on, but was the siren activated?
I’m a little surprised that so many people are unfamiliar with this type of intersection. The lights we saw were red because of the traffic coming the other way had the right away for left turns as well as straight through the intersection. However, you don’t have to take my word for it. You can just read the police report.
It is easy to assume that the light in front of you is red so oncoming traffic will have a green light as well. The officer is not supposed to be flying through intersections blindly at high speeds.
If that truck was speeding up to 30 mins before impact or if the T/T had any defects, or if the driver was not fit to drive guess who you get the tickets
A real driver (trucker or not) would of seen both sides red and instantly noticed the green arrow on the left. I saw it immediately. Best part was when the cop said "not sure about the trooper that was struck by the commercial vehicle"
The truck had a green, you can see the reflection of the green signal off the windshield in the video The officer had a responsibility to ignore signals while running at code in a contienous manner.
As a trucker who's been trucking with a safe and clean driving record after 24 years,I can't express enough the Importance and the Benefits to Memorize,Learn and Apply the Five Key Steps in the Smith Driving System. It not only protects you as a professional driver, It helps save the lives of others and first responders who are also professional drivers as well. Even if that light was green when that amazon driver approached and crossed over the white line, he should have gotten the Big Picture of what was happening in that intersection way back before approaching and been prepared to Leave Himself An Out. On top of that, the State Trooper had his Emergency Lights🚨 on and approached the intersection with his Siren 📢 activated. It was nighttime, and that driver should have seen the Trooper's Red,White, and Blue's ahead of the intersection and Heard his Loud Sirens. Under Texas law you are mandated to yield the right of way to all emergency vehicles running with emergency lights🚨 Therefore, the accident was preventable and the Amazon Driver is at Fault..
@@MuthaTrucker and your surprised? That’s the world we live in nowadays. People quick to jump to conclusions. Just like that recent subway shooting. Media quickly making the guy who was minding his business the bad guy. I live in Texas and know how traffic lights work. Most cities lights turn green for both sides.
As a driver that's always estimating other vehicles speed for safety. I will guess that Leo speed was more in the 20-40 mph at impact. No where near 70mph. That would have made a convertible out of that suv with a different outcome.
Look when you take your driving test to get your cdl and when u come up to a light ur gotta look both ways and u gotta watch for emergency vehicles. Even tho the trooper had a red light the trucker should have seen him coming and slow down
Doesn’t matter if siren was on. Doesn’t matter anything! The law enforcement officer is supposed to stop or ATTEMPT to come to a clear and reasonable stop BEFORE proceeding to travel thru the intersection. This is so the officer can ensure that it is safe to travel thru and continue to their destination. This is a common standard practice/policy in many law enforcement agencies. This is taught to all officers with their field training officer day 1.
Regardless if the trucker has a green light and the officer had a red light…police vehicles with their emergency lights on shouldn’t have to stop at red lights. And if the truck driver is coming up on an intersection, he/she is supposed to start checking right and left for any hazards regardless if they have a green light. So in my opinion and knowledge of of the CDL Handbook, there is enough to reasonably have that trucker fired and/or convicted for “failure to obey traffic controlled device”, which emergency vehicle (paramedics, firefighters and law enforcement) lights falls under.
Even thou the cop had his code equipment on, he should have slowed down and possibly stop to make sure he had control of the intersection before going through.... I drove an ambulance in a big city so I know what first responders are supposed to do when running code... Glad the truck driver wasn't at fault....and they both were OK...
At 70 miles per hour, you can cover a huge distance. The trucker did not have a chance to react at that speed. Cops always reduce their speed when approaching an intersection in a high-speed chase.
I would say the fault is on both parties simply for awareness. Whether the light was green, or police lights were flashing both police officers, as well as commercial vehicle operators should always be extremely aware. I took my CDL test about seven years ago. I don’t know how things are now, but I was drilled into paying attention, and I’m sure it’s the same with law enforcement.
You always have to look both ways crossing an intersection with a green light , that’s just to protect yourself …. In Texas the emergency vehicles always have right of way especially with sirens and lights on… mothatruckin I respect you for having our backs but today I believe this could’ve been avoided if the driver would’ve looked he would’ve seen lights and a state trooper hauling ass

Response drivers are told it is their responsibility to make sure intersections are clear no matter color of lights. In most places unless in active pursuits it is against police policies to speed. Ambulance and fire are NEVER allowed to exceed the speed limit.
Was the out of state tags the trigger
I'm surprised the truck didn't had a dash cam
I think he was ready for questioning to be over 😂😂😂😂
😂🤣😬
surprised and glad at the same time they didn't say the driver was at fault cause cop had his lights going
You are right the truck light was GREEN and the cop's light was RED.
Police cop fault,
I seem many times police getting a call and they always slow down the speed in the intersections.
I haul for Amazon and be honest, many shhhh driving fast like rocket. Million accidents inside Amazon yard. Amazon never said a word.
What's the policy for police officers in that city for speeding?
People with selective memory. Obviously people never drove a truck. A commercial truck cannot stop on a dime. That was the cops fault negligence on the cop. Smh some people IQ level is 1% everybody want to blame the truck driver😮 does not matter what the cop was chasing. It's the cops fault.
The truck had a green lite, the cop failed to make sure the road was clear before entering the intersection
Hold my hat Junior. I had a flashback to Smoky and The Bandit when Sheriff Buford T. Justice of Texas and his Son went under a Semi. 😅
There needs to be a study to see if a semi can stop on a nickel. It's slightly larger than a dime. If not, perhaps a quarter
Did you hear about the truck driver in Louisiana getting arrested and charge in Louisiana from 8 people got killed on i 55
I’m a little surprised that so many people are unfamiliar with this type of intersection.
The truck had a green, you can see the reflection of the green signal off the windshield in the video
The officer had a responsibility to ignore signals while running at code in a contienous manner.
truckers light was green going forward and left, thats why all other lights were red, people dont pay attention as to how traffic lights work.
Under Texas law you are mandated to yield the right of way to all emergency vehicles running with emergency lights🚨
Therefore, the accident was preventable and the Amazon Driver is at Fault..
No they don’t the office did not clear the intersection first . Period this is coming from a retired deputy
Man Alex. You slacking. This happened awhile back. Thanks for putting awareness out there
Yeah video is going viral on social media with no context and everyone is saying the trucker ran the red light. So had to jump in and get the details
@@MuthaTruckerslacking 🤔
I don't think so 😊
Keep up the good work 👏 🙌
@@AlexM.. So we gotta do our best to change it don't you think?
😂 shows video cop about to crash 'OH' intro music starts😅
As a driver that's always estimating other vehicles speed for safety. I will guess that Leo speed was more in the 20-40 mph at impact. No where near 70mph. That would have made a convertible out of that suv with a different outcome.
Look when you take your driving test to get your cdl and when u come up to a light ur gotta look both ways and u gotta watch for emergency vehicles. Even tho the trooper had a red light the trucker should have seen him coming and slow down
Just curious, did they audit the drivers logs to find any discrepancies even though it's obvious that the trooper was at fault?
Doesn’t matter if siren was on. Doesn’t matter anything! The law enforcement officer is supposed to stop or ATTEMPT to come to a clear and reasonable stop BEFORE proceeding to travel thru the intersection. This is so the officer can ensure that it is safe to travel thru and continue to their destination. This is a common standard practice/policy in many law enforcement agencies. This is taught to all officers with their field training officer day 1.
How can a truck that big be able to stop and go to the side of the road!
Classic failure of govts presumed authority!
I wonder if they are going to add this to the women's charges?
I'll check for updates
That’s BS if they do. She was t in control of the troopers actions.
Trooper should have slowed wayyy down in an intersection like that, what if there was a pedestrian crossing. YOU ALWAYS SLOW DOWN TO CLEAR AN INTERSECTION ALWAYS!!!
Just stupid people would believe that was the amazon driver fault, that was the police fault 100%, period!
Depends if the cop has his sirens going even if the truck had a green light they still argue he was at fault because he wasn't paying attention
He sent a look at his section before he proceeded through there. That’s his fault. He hit that truck at truck driver needs a stand up for yourself.
Some typos here but I think I agree with what u were trying to say
Amazon will throw him under the bus.
Ever notice how they always want the cameras pointed IN and not OUT?
That’s ALL companies!
If you are a driver, get a dashcam.
If the company don’t allow it, QUIT.
Did you notice how the trooper was already setting the stage to fight the “ who’s at fault “ claims buy saying the commercial vehicle struck the trooper 🤣. I’m glad everyone is ok but the finger pointing is already starting.
Oh yeah!!!
This is a very difficult one to call but truck driver was coming like crazy before the crash
Hi Alex
Amazon are the worst drivers
BUT !! thats not the point here !
@@michaelsorrentino9279 but still, I'm just pointing out a fact
Man , the cop had to have his eyes close.
How is that when his light was green? He should not be fired at all. He's not at fault as well.
🙂 emergency anything ur suppose to slow down a little bit just in case, that goes for police and firefighter and ambulance, be careful out there
Do investigate first, then judge!!!
Yeah, I had to find the details. Hate to see to many people judge this driver
I think I heard them say they performed a pit Peru on a car that had children in it. I wonder if that is against the law you know it’s all right for adults to be in the car but children to be in a car and then perform that act, shouldn’t just back off and wait until the person goes home or doesn’t have the kids
From what it sounds like in the video it sounds like the officer didn’t have a siren on just the lights. The truck driver definitely wasn’t enough fault I’m paying for the officer to be OK. He was just trying to do his job and make it to help her colleague, it just sucks they blame truck drivers for everything. Just a bad situation. Hopefully everyone’s OK.
Everyone lived
Glad to hear that keep up the good work brother your keeping us drivers informed out there!
No . The truck was already in the intersection. Even if the cop was going 2 a call they should have slowed down in the intersection
