I just recently found the back half of this in my dad’s attic. It was a very fun. Multifunctional toy. Many play features. I was born in 72 so inherited it from my big brothers. Combined with the Big Trapper I had it was a great set-up as a kid on a farm. We had so much space to play and dig roads etc out in a large part of the garden under the trees. The “glass” dome alone looks to be in about as good condition as possible after 52 years - that piece alone… oiy vey! 🤑 the chairs in the front pop out, and had a stand in two pieces to use as the chair. I guess I never knew at my young age it could use batteries 🤯 but I don’t think the light part survived until the point I was old enough to play with it.
I think the GI Adventure Team was about the best toy concept in an almost real world concept to ever be released. Kind of Indiana Jones/James Bond and Jurassic Park mixed together with some sci-fi elements, before their time really. And despite them having firearms, not overly violent.
Plain and simple a great toy line that was fun and let us play with our imaginations. ❤

That’s awesome that you found that, appreciate you sharing that story! Although we weren’t born yet to enjoy it them growing up, we definitely appreciate toys like this and the Adventure Team sets are a true art of their time and they’re great to collect!

Greatest GI Joe accessory toy, ever! The "motor" switch would operate the satellite/radar dish on the roof (it would spin). Great work, guys...congrats on the find!

Yes. The switch turns the radar dish around in a circle. The Spotlight has a light on it, and there is a drone launcher that shot off a little wheeled drone Along the likes of that gun that shot off the little propeller projectile. Your vehicle probably doesn't have the little rubber bands that made the things turn, so you'll probably have to replace them. (Mine didn't last past Christmas Day, '74)
This was Adventure team, so it was about adventure stuff, saving the whales and gators and that sort of shit. I was in it early, so I had Sam Cobra as our slick willie bad guy who enlisted the likes of Maskatron, Big Jim's villains and cronies, and topped off with a big assed robot "SHOGUN" guy with shooting fists, or missiles. I forgot which one I had, it was big for us little guys.
You have me interested in putting one of these guys back together. That was one hell of a vehicle. There used to be a show on Saturday Mornings called ARK 2. THIS vehicle was my ARK 2. The team would branch out from the base, and use this for the adventures. IIRC, I had a big assed Shark from JAWS that I'd use, because the one I had with the diving gear looked like a minnow.
You've got me interested in this stuff, for some reason. I'd almost forgot this one.

Appreciate all the info! I love this vehicle and the other adventure team playsets, back when there was actual creativity put into toys haha. Hope you get the chance to to put one of these bad boys back together 🙌

The light could work and light and radar dish rotation if not corroded. The rubber band inside that moves the radar fish often is missing

From watching GI Joe related channels, it seems there is a small cottage industry making missing parts for the old gear, including printable replacements for lost or damaged decals. Might be worth a search online. Plenty of us perpetual nine-year-olds out there still have a passion for these nostalgic toys, and some make a hobby out of such restorations. =^[.]^=

You’re absolutely right! A lot of people make 3D printed parts for these, and a lot of other nostalgic toy sets too (I see a lot for power rangers also). Some people are sticklers and only like the original parts lol I wouldn’t mind a printed part here and there though!

The motor swith makes the radar and light spin. There's probably all kinds of goo inside it which would have been the drive belt
