Just the push I needed to rehab the talking astronaut I got a few months ago. He sounds similar to yours in the beginning.

    Great repair Tim!
I've done a few of these over the years.
A talking Marine is giving me fits right now.
Something I do with mine is to take a Qtip and rubbing alcohol, and clean the voice tape and recoil spring.
I also give the needle the once over, and replace it with a 78 RPM record needle if needed.
This is info that you probably already know.
    Regards,
    Duck

Thanks for checking out this episode. I've been checking out some of the earlier 60's Joe's lately. The rubbing alcohol is definitely something I've used as well. I'll have to keep in mind the 78 needle substitute, that's a great idea!

On one of mine I had to replace the foam pad that creates a little pressure for the needle to hit the speaker also with a gyro sets the two buffing pads which if they come loose he would talk fast or he would talk slow.

Thanks for sharing, I've heard other collectors experiencing the speed of the voice mechanism being an issue. You've probably helped some other people as well! Thanks for watching 👍

Thanks for the video..very informative. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix the broken peg on the inside lower torso that holds the elastic leg cord in place? This cord wraps over the peg to keep the legs tight. I guess over the years the tension of the cord pulling on the peg has broken it. Any tips would be helpful. Thank you.

Thanks for watching, and yes I know that pin-like piece that the elastic loops over for the legs. You could try eBay for loose parts to use and replace the elastic strap on the legs, otherwise, maybe a plastic dowel piece glued in to replace the broken section in there?

Tim, outstanding work! Do you have any suggestions for repairing a talker box with a non-retracting recoil spring? The voice pull string is fully extended and won't retract, and I can't figure out a fix. Thanks!

I have a talk box with some gunk on the recording tape. What would you recommend to clean that off? I have been holding off out of fear of damaging the recording. . .

See if this helps you with what you're describing, gunk on the recorded tape area: ruclips.net/video/cGd2KWZzkUc/видео.html
      I used rubbing alcohol

I have a talking Action soldier of the world who's voice is extremely garbled. I was wondering if the talking mechanism is the same as the 70s figures?

    • @ToyTinkerTim
      @ToyTinkerTim  5 месяцев назад

I'm not sure what mechanism was inside those figures, the 60's and 70's voice mechanism I believe were similar however.
