    I love the old international trucks. When I was 4 years old in Fredonia Arizona our neighbors had an old one that I claimed as mine. I spent hours playing in the old blue international.

    Hey, regarding the cab mounts. Those are 3/4 ton mounts. You can convert to 1/2 ton mounts by swapping the brackets and using 1/2 ton rubber bushings. I have a full set of body mount bushings I'll send you, all you gotta do is buy two 1/2 ton brackets from LMC or Brothers.
    I have the same truck, same color. They're sweet!

    If this engine has been already worked on some time in the past, I would check the crank to be sure that it wasn't turned down, so that it would need oversized bearings.

    When I was 18 I had a 67 C10. One afternoon at my buddies house with nothing to do he pulled out a box of keys with no home to see if any would work. He found four that would unlock the doors and two of them would start the truck. The old locks were not that secur.

  • @irench
    @irench 3 года назад

    They are called half elliptical springs. At one time before coil over or air SCORE trucks were using them on their rear suspension. We would put a screw jack just infront of the clamp to adjust the ride hieght. Used with limit straps they made sure the wheels hit the ground quickly off the land rush jump. Which is highly desirable because time out of contact with Tera Firma is time wind can slow the truck.
    You probably could have just put a gas can and hose to the fuel pump on the ol girl. I do it all the time. I also built adapters to go on the forks of my Yale lift truck to move vehicles. They fit frame rails to receiver hitches and have a pivot point like a fifth so then you can tuck stuff away real easy or drag it in the shop super easy.
    If those mains are that wiped out, the crank is absolutely going to be not round. You can bolt bearings in but it will have oil pressure problems almost for certain. The connecting rods also should be made round again too.
    Most importantly, it did look like a 400 if I heard correctly from the little bit of the balancer I could see. Unless the person who "thought backward" put a 350 crank in that block to make it a 383 in which case why is the 400 balancer on it? 400 is an externally balanced engine and wasn't paired with manual transmissions because of the external balance. So unless the assembly was internally balanced when they built it last. Your motor could go boom exceptionally fast. How it lived to make those bearings that wiped out is an enigma which the answer is most likely that the motor wasn't in the truck all that long before it was retired to you.
    I certainly hope you take the time to investigate and find out.

    Paul next time you're at a big box lumber store stock up on small and large mixing tubs for ground mixing concrete/mortar(same isle) They're the ultimate catcher for radiator swaps, transmission pan removal, diesel oil changes, ATV rack baskets, parts washing, small equipment snow/rain covers and about 1,000 other things, it's like if the utility of a 5 gallon bucket was a well kept secret 😄👍don't accidentally buy the fancy ones, smalls should be less than $10 and large less than $15

    • @berryreading4809
      @berryreading4809 3 года назад

      One more hot tip, harbor freight of all places actually has an assortment box of maybe 50+ body shims for around $5, since this discovery I now use those for all manner of unintended uses aswell 😄 👍(just be prepared that they include about 15 of different useful thicknesses, and about 40 of the thinnest size that you will only ever need 2 of almost 😄)

    Third freeze plug on the sides or prevision for a third one I thought dictates if it’s a 400, also externally balanced harmonic can’t remember. Obviously true telling is center Siamese cylinder and added cylinder head steam holes.

I know, I have a 41 IHC K5 truck that was converted from the Green Diamond 223 to the Black Diamond 240 over head valves. Some people around here are putting small block Chevy with auto trany into those IHC K pickups.

    Nice, Caution on those Harbor Freight lights..Avoid dropping them, ( magnets are strong & well above avg ) ive gone through Plenty, most had defects, the wiring in the LED end is not the best, The battery end bezel cap will wear to the point the end cap will be hard to get on & sometimes the seal will fall apart.. Batteries are interchangeable with universal size and other external chargers, Overall though for the price of retail they are not bad with anything build quality could have been better & light output is very good. As long as you take care of the lights they will last some time, Performance while in top shape is better than nearly any available, Though i would suggest buying backup batteries, the default ones usually last 3 months before they discharge and never regain full charge capacity. ( former tech, used for avg 4+ hours of 8 hrs every day )
