Hunters funniest moment ever!! When he was told he was turning into Paul with the toothpick in his mouth and he immediately threw it across the shop!! hahaha
Why does this channel have more love than others like it? I suspect that it is the little stuff the editors add (not just the wholesome awesome people). Flashback videos in b/w, relevant little videos about the phrases they use, these are great ways to include the watchers AND I APPRECIATE THEM! "New boot goofin" or just an old cartoon that I didn't happen to know. I get so many of the quotes but love to see the ones, that I do not know, are explained with little videos. These are NOT needed for channel success but are appreciated.
Little trick i learned from drilling hardened plate. Drill with your left hand if the drill binds in pulls out of your hand, instead of yanking your arm into a pretzel.
That is a cool ‘42! Sean was the perfect addition. Love the energy in the shop with the guys. And Michelle, those new hi lites look beautiful. Wish I were that comfortable in front of the camera.🌺
i was really surprised to see him use the "steady rest" on the lathe i thought i was the only one to ever use one of those. (im not sure thats even what its called just what ive always called it). paul is quite the machinist and aluminum tig welder.
That Makita drill comes with a side handle to stop it turning into a wrist breaker, unfortunately most people leave it in the box it came in & it never sees the light of day again.
Tip - Instead of twisting the daylights out of your wrist, get an impact-ready chuck for the 1/4" impact. You'll be a lot happier. I've been using my impact a lot more than my 3/8" drill. Works great with holesaws too.
Looking good. Reckon you're right... Needs that running board gap filled in. Probably also wants the rear fenders made a bit wider to match the front as well.
Those shocks are rebuildable. I’ve had them in a couple old MG’s and my Chevy truck. Keep them if you’re not gonna use them. I love that truck, mine’s a 36 (still with a straight-6 but with dual carbs and exhaust. 😊
Guys. There is a hack for saving your wrists when drilling: touch the outside edge of the bit (both sides) to your grinder. Juuust touch. Itll never grab again.
Paul I don't know how many times this old fella has said this. I absolutely love this channel and your entire crew. And I know I've said this a number of times also. I think Michelle is a GORGEOUS YOUNG LADY. I'm always just waiting for the next episode ❤
Shawn back off on the pressure when the point starts through the metal. When you hear the sound change and feel the vibration slightly increase it’s about to go through.
Lovely to see Mary-Pat's old truck getting some love! Those old shocks used to be called lever-arm shocks. They have oil inside them as the damping medium,,,
Fenders are great just widen them and extend the running boards to them. Also think you'll need to run two light gage channel braces between the channel section where the 4 links weld to the rear of the frame under the cab to keep it from flexing under load, but you've gotten her to a point where even the where the original owner would love her.
Holy Moly these '42 Chevy upgrades are awesome! Love the peek look at the new lounge area with the cabinets going in it's going to be so nice! This '42 is a monster power house and runs like a scalded dog! Sean and Hunter are such a great asset to this Fab Rats team! Love the cameo's of Michelle. Looking awesome Paul and team.
I love what your doing to the 42 Chevy! I been waiting to see it finished, and I like what I'm seeing! Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next. 😊
Paul, that’s going to be awesome. In my opinion, and I’m just saying because I am a old painter myself, I would take it over to Robby’s and paint it. I would lay down a candy burgundy or say candy caramel, cinnamon color, with a tan interior or a dark grey color. I like tan because it gives it a nice contrast and shows less dirt or dust than other colors. That is just my opinion or preference though, it’s a awesome ride and is going to be a absolute blast to ride around in, can’t wait to see what you guys do next with it!
You guys are doing a great job. Unbelievable, you know I really love watching your videos. You have a crane in your shop and two lifts and a truck that looks just like Rory‘s. All you need now is well like 10 years worth of recoveries to prove the truck is the same.
On the rear fenders, why not extend them out to the corner of the bed? That way it goes from running board and swoops up into the fender. This will also give you a bit more down force on the rear-end.
Save wrists and your bits. High speed, low pressure thru aluminum. Low speed, high pressure thru steel. And any kind of oil/cutting lubricant. Love your show thank you for all your content!
Nice progress on the old 42. You need to let Robby obsess over the body and paint as well as the frame. What a looker as well as a mover she’ll be then 🛻
Now the truck is getting some quality to it. FORD 9" rear end. 😁Amazing how they are still the best small rear end for hot rods. I was just looking at the Brunt shoe last night. Their toe with the reinforced cover along the front is good, but my steel toes would be exposed on the top and the front tip. I used my boots to move a lot of stuff. All the people I worked with or knew had the same wear pattern. I am retired, no need for those now.
Rear fenders look nice, If you get your Run Boards add on like you said you’ll have the Best looking Truck I have seen in 50 years ! Thx for a great video 👍🇺🇸
You might want frame connectors or you might end up seeing Robbie to straighten the frame once the frame suffers from the pretzel 🥨 effect caused by too much power that’s beyond what the frame can handle.
Unless you put drag slicks on it, the tires will roast before the frame gives out. It's a full frame already, so if it's not already boxed, that would help, but aside from caging it, there's nothing to connect. ✌️🐸
I say you should widen the rear fenders and run them. That looks great. I would go steelies, caps and wide white walls on it personally. But that truck is the sweetest thing you own IMO.
Lookin" Awesome As Always! Paul is Like 2 of my old buddies i hung out with years ago. they were my best friends. their motto was get on it, get it done,,and have fun at the same time. every time i see paul on here it makes me think of them. thank you paul,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The new front sheet metal makes it look so much better! Please add some gussets to the lower coilover mounts though. Right now they are cantilevered and in single shear. Could fatigue and fail over time.
Sean you need to learn to put a slite negative rake on the the cutting edge of that drill when you’re going through a pre-existing hole in aluminum it will save your wrist I’d hate to see you get a broken wrist from that drill gun
Everybody likes something different but I think the truck looks better without the fenders! Looks clean and very cool👍🏻 Hotrod style! With a blower that's going to be fun to drive.
I would take those rare fingers. Cut them right down the middle and add a 2 inch wide section of steel tool to make them wider. So they match the front fenurse and take those running boards from the flatbed flat bed. Maybe you can well dose into the other running boards.
Love you guys!!!! I watch every episode. Pro tip, I’m a machinist. Put some tapping fluid on your drill bit. Especially on aluminum. Makes the drilling so much easier and smoother. Increase drill bit life. Might even reduce the amount of times the drill grabs and almost breaks ur wrist Sean… lol 7:28
I froze my Factor meals upon delivery. Then i brought them to a second floor addition job where we have a fridge and microwave. Its a crap microwave, so like 6.5 gets it right and they are so good. Fastfood lunch is average $11 so i used your code from months ago, this is one of many jobs 3 of us work on, and the quality is so good these have saved me money. They are like restaurant take out , not knock you out portion sized, and if it sounds good to you it is menu. 🗿😂🗿
@Paul ... IMO the rear fenders need to be sectioned and widened .. just enough to cover the wheels and visually mesh with the front fenders .. that should visually tie them in with the front of the truck w/o needing a longer running board .. picture/photoshop it to visualize it.
Hey fab boys ,make yourself a measure block out of scrap wood at 5 inch or chosen measurements X2 and drop it in the gap and then do your leverage until they both touch😊👍
I couldn't resist commenting on the turn down tips. They look good and will do the job just fine for this truck but they reminded me of my dirt track days and they were not permitted (of all things something so simple) only because they stirred up too much dust in the pits. Which to be honest they did with all the air flow that passes thru a racing engine. On the other hand they did keep a lot of heat off the floorboards and if your headers ended close to the gas pedal the heel of your shoe would melt to the floor.
Stock rear fenders would look real good on the 42 pickup. How are you going to balance the driveshaft ??? If you had used rear leaf springs you could have put on a set of traction bars and also run the exhaust clear out the back .
This is probably the only FabRats project I haven't agreed with. Don't get me wrong, I love what you've done with it, but I also really liked the basic simplicity of what it was.
Rear fenders need a little tweaking, but having them looks way better. The front end is big and wide and putting fenders on the back really balances it out. Just my opinion, in case you’re wanting any. Obviously you’re the only one who has to be happy with it.
I like the way the 42 is coming together... including the rear fenders. I agree with another comment, the rear fenders may need to be widened a little.
Hunters funniest moment ever!! When he was told he was turning into Paul with the toothpick in his mouth and he immediately threw it across the shop!! hahaha

new boot goofin is from a tv.series called "reno 911"
I like Sean. He's that silent guy that has your back when it counts.
Sean is a G
Great team!!
He’s a pretty darn good fella
same
Until there is an alien or zombie attack, he might run for the hills lmao
Little trick i learned from drilling hardened plate. Drill with your left hand if the drill binds in pulls out of your hand, instead of yanking your arm into a pretzel.
Team work making the dream work, have a good week and count your blessings amen.
Sean has gotten good with the camera. Great addition to the team.
That is a cool ‘42! Sean was the perfect addition. Love the energy in the shop with the guys. And Michelle, those new hi lites look beautiful. Wish I were that comfortable in front of the camera.🌺
The old 42 is looking good! BTW, makes me smile every time I see Paul using the old lathe he rescued. Always enjoy the channel!
i was really surprised to see him use the "steady rest" on the lathe i thought i was the only one to ever use one of those. (im not sure thats even what its called just what ive always called it). paul is quite the machinist and aluminum tig welder.
Morning Fabrats crew, thanks for all the great content and laughs! Tell Ben we still miss him!
I'm so envious of the way these guys can just take anything apart and fix it. They are very talented.
Right?! I am timid when it comes to taking things apart and trying to put them back together.
Shawn did a great job working and running video completely solo. Good work!
That Makita drill comes with a side handle to stop it turning into a wrist breaker, unfortunately most people leave it in the box it came in & it never sees the light of day again.

this car should be sent to Robby Layton to be painted and udercoated ...it's a piece of art. GJ
Looking good.
Reckon you're right... Needs that running board gap filled in. Probably also wants the rear fenders made a bit wider to match the front as well.
I agree, they looked a little to small compared to the front fenders and running boards.
I agree.
Yup.
14:24 great Morskie reference! 😂
You're the unsung hero of Fab Rats, Sean!
sean’s personality is like paint, sometimes it’s dry sometimes it’s wet….but it covers enough
Coming along nicely! Copper fuel line is a bad idea. Copper work hardens with vibrations and can/will unexpectedly crack and fail.
Guys definitely a plus to this channel (Sean) . Soft spoken gentleman and a good mechanic.
Love seeing the old stuff come to life. Thank you for sharing with us
Oh my gosh. Shaun you talked and did your own skit lol
Great job I love the feel currently
I like the way the rear fenders drop down in the back,, it will keep the burn out smoke inside 😂😂😂 She’s a keeper 😅
Paul I don't know how many times this old fella has said this. I absolutely love this channel and your entire crew. And I know I've said this a number of times also. I think Michelle is a GORGEOUS YOUNG LADY. I'm always just waiting for the next episode ❤
SSSWWWEEEET well done guy's just the look on Hunters face said it all.Great job on the tear down Shawn well done
Shawn back off on the pressure when the point starts through the metal. When you hear the sound change and feel the vibration slightly increase it’s about to go through.

Yay a commercial. Great job Michelle
Nice. That thing sounds awesome. I predict many roads in town will be painted black. Such a great channel. Thanks.
Holy Moly these '42 Chevy upgrades are awesome! Love the peek look at the new lounge area with the cabinets going in it's going to be so nice! Nice work guys!! In Paul's words... "She's a runner"!! The old Chevy is looking and sounding really GOOD!!!!
It was the video of you rescuing the old lathe that brought me to your channel, and I'm happy to see that it's still in use Paul 👍
The rear end offset is for thrust vectoring. It’s a feature.
You guys are doing a great job. Unbelievable, you know I really love watching your videos. You have a crane in your shop and two lifts and a truck that looks just like Rory‘s. All you need now is well like 10 years worth of recoveries to prove the truck is the same.
My dad and I had a "58" Ranchero that we built a 650hp 390 for when I was in high school. Your truck reminds me of it. That was a fun ride to be sure.
It's always nice when Paul stops by while filming his channel.
On the rear fenders, why not extend them out to the corner of the bed? That way it goes from running board and swoops up into the fender. This will also give you a bit more down force on the rear-end.
When you park on a hill, what brake do you use? When someone cuts you off and stops suddenly.... what brake do you use?
They know they are wrong. They think it's "there first Emmentmint rites."
That 42 is badass ,would love to have it.
Save wrists and your bits. High speed, low pressure thru aluminum. Low speed, high pressure thru steel. And any kind of oil/cutting lubricant. Love your show thank you for all your content!
Looking good!
I think the rear fenders need to be widened to give them some width to match the front.
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Good morning Paul the truck is bad ass with true horsepower. I like it
What I love about Fab rats is the banter.
I personally like the 42. You have the horse 🐎 power dialed in nicely. Thanks 👍 for sharing everyone 😘.
Nice progress on the old 42. You need to let Robby obsess over the body and paint as well as the frame. What a looker as well as a mover she’ll be then 🛻

Rear fenders look nice, If you get your Run Boards add on like you said you’ll have the Best looking Truck I have seen in 50 years !
Thx for a great video 👍🇺🇸
I have built a few of these trucks and the best answer is CAL TRACS
Put the Coilovers Straight up and down for best adjustability and TRACTION
Running boards is a must and maybe widen the fender flares 3 or 4 inches.
Those smiles at the end made me feel like a kid again!! I’m only 46 but makes me want to build something cool now 😊
FR, those "knee" action shocks are filled with oil and when the seals go bad you fill them with grease. Had 'em on my 48 Chevy!
I vote to keep the rear fenders, they are absolutely fantastic, just fill them in. Wow, it looks perfect!!
No matter how many spin off channels come out of Utah, still only have time for Fab Rats and MORR. The originals.👍
Or maybe Paul should have narrowed the rear end. Also the drag link bracket on axle should be longer at the bottom, for torque leverage.
I say Firebird. 😊
Lookin" Awesome As Always! Paul is Like 2 of my old buddies i hung out with years ago. they were my best friends. their motto was get on it, get it done,,and have fun at the same time. every time i see paul on here it makes me think of them. thank you paul,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
That truck and the Firebird are still the best looking vehicles you’ve got! You should wrap the truck with something wicked.
The new front sheet metal makes it look so much better! Please add some gussets to the lower coilover mounts though. Right now they are cantilevered and in single shear. Could fatigue and fail over time.
I like how you measure to the BEAD, as if the Bead is centered to the FRAME, as if anything on that 80 year-old truck is centered.
Had a blast meeting you, hunter, and grandma.
I also am going to Washington to a car show next weekend
I can't wait to see the "42" finished. I know you like "rat rods" but I hope it gets a Robbie Layton painting.
The smile on your sons face just made a new hot rod fan, those are the times we don’t forget
Shen your clean cut look and good work ethic sets a good example for other young fellows. Way to go.
Looks great with fenders and hood. Nice job.
The 42 sound great. That truck Gots Power! Great job on the rest end Sean. The look on Hunters face when Paul jumped on it.😎🤙
Sean you need to learn to put a slite negative rake on the the cutting edge of that drill when you’re going through a pre-existing hole in aluminum it will save your wrist I’d hate to see you get a broken wrist from that drill gun
Awesome video, that truck looks so fun to drive. Thanks for what yall do.
Nice work Sean. Glad everyone else showed up when the work was done!!!
Everybody likes something different but I think the truck looks better without the fenders! Looks clean and very cool👍🏻 Hotrod style! With a blower that's going to be fun to drive.

I so love that you put the rear fenders "on " it. So good 👍
Hey fab boys ,make yourself a measure block out of scrap wood at 5 inch or chosen measurements X2 and drop it in the gap and then do your leverage until they both touch😊👍
Good job shawn your doing great man seriously.
That looks like a fun truck. I think it should get a paint job that you might want to wax once in awhile. Great video guys.
yes on the fenders. Get the running boards for it. Truck is looking good
Thats where the door closers from the bathrooms went! Well that's the most beautiful truck ive ever seen.
I couldn't resist commenting on the turn down tips. They look good and will do the job just fine for this truck but they reminded me of my dirt track days and they were not permitted (of all things something so simple) only because they stirred up too much dust in the pits. Shawn’s doing a great job on the channel, easy to watch him work.
What a beast that 42 is. I like the rear fenders
Cut the fenders in half and weld strips of 2 inch or whatever sheet in to widen them, make the tires more tucked in.
This was educational. I liked it. I've never seen an entire new rear suspension get installed before. You guys made it all look easy.
Stock rear fenders would look real good on the 42 pickup.
How are you going to balance the driveshaft ???
If you had used rear leaf springs you could have put on a set of traction bars and also run the exhaust clear out the back .
It's not how much horse power you have ... it's how much you have to spare. Always enjoy seeing Paul look back at the black marks.
This is probably the only FabRats project I haven't agreed with. Don't get me wrong, I love what you've done with it, but I also really liked the basic simplicity of what it was.
The old 42 is looking really good. You guys do awesome work and have a lot of fun doing it. Have a great evening and weekend.

Its crazy your centering the diff off the tray and not the chassis ......i love this channel
The truck looks great. Thanks for keeping us entertained.
