Girl, I missed your videos so much! I happened to stumble upon your channel about 4 months ago and have feel in love with it. Happy new year and I hope you enjoyed your time with family ❤️
I have missed you!!!! Yes, I always pack our food for vacations. I plan meals out before we go and pack everything we need, even my own pots, pans and knives. Some ask me, “why your on vacation?” Having those meals planned and canned is so easy, effortless & takes little time. Love these prepackaged meal suggestions. Definitely going to get in that bean dip asap. ❤
Haha! We are the same in this, Chris! Between how much you save and how much better you can eat from your own pantry I always pack our food. I even keep a cooler in my backseat year filled with trail mix and other snacks. Happy New Year friend!
By saving money where we could, even though others thought we were a bit odd, we were able to be debt free! Because of all of that, we made it through injury, layoffs, and illness. It has brought great peace of mind to us. We still stock up and garden, and we are building a greenhouse. This is our life, and we love it! We are more free than we ever envisioned. You are doing great things. Keep going!
A few years ago. While attending a convention, I took ingredients for a crockpot meal to have in our room, (along with snacks) . The aroma drew visitors, curious where we ordered our dinner. We also brought with us lunch items (eg.lunch meat sandwiches, friut), as hotel restaurants and room service were so expensive!
Before I even watch this I want to say I was so happy to see a video from you drop today. I only recently started following you, but I missed you. I have rewatched so many of your videos to get my fix lol.
I am loving your channel. I am going to suggest this to all of my friends. You deserve a lot more followers and your ideas and quick tips are amazing. Keep the ball rolling we are watching.
Oh my goodness you are a God send! I came searching for home cooked, dehydrated backpacking meals I can make and send with my husband and son for on high hunt, and I can’t believe the perfect timing because the next thing on my to do list was preparing for going to shows for my 4H kiddos. You just saved me from dragging my heavy cooler around the hotel again lol Thank you
I recently discovered your channel before Thanksgiving and binged watched all your videos. I love your spirit and energy it's so contagious. Thank you for the amazing content. I definitely need more! ❤️
Hi Sarah! Whoa, I'm blown away that we've recently spent so much time together :) I'm back to a regular (every 8-10 days) posting schedule. Hope your New Year is off to a great start!
I always get excited when I see you have a new video up. And I was super excited to see that you were a part of. Canuary. Definitely a fan of your channel. You always have the most beautiful meals and the most creative ideas.
Hi Casandra I just started watching your RUclips videos. You are amazing you brought back my childhood memories from the days I spent with my AUNT she did not throw away Anything. My husband and My son and I were talking about growing our own vegetables. As I was searching i came across your RUclips videos. I couldn’t stop watching I was and is blown away. All these things came rushing back to my mine with the educational information that you offer thank you so much for what you’re doing. You REALLY NEED your OWN TELEVISION Show if that’s what you want. God bless you.
I just discovered this video, and yes! I pack at least half of our food for every vacation. In 2021, my younger daughter and I went on a two week camping trip out west. To save money, we prepared and dehydrated every meal ahead of time. All of our meals fit in one small box, and cooking and cleanup was easy. We ate well at every meal! I even planned desserts😊
I am amazed that you can make everything you make look like something I must add to my diet. The way you present the food is picture perfect. I can, both water bath and pressure canning. I dehydrate food but we have no freezer. We also buy freeze dried food. Love your channel! You have a congenial personality. Thanks for your channel.
Wow, Alice you are too kind. Isn't the ability to preserve your own food without needing a freezer just empowering? From canning to fermenting to dehydrating, and yes, supplementing with freeze dried foods you can get a truly delicious and well stocked pantry. Alice, I'm truly a home cook but I appreciate your words about my meals! Nothing "looks" better to me than homemade. Happy New Year!
Pam! It’s always lovely to see you! I am so happy to finally have other friends that I can share my small but cozy kitchen with. Meals in jars of any kind are always a lifesaver! Happy New Year!
WOW! How wonderful to find your channel again. My computer went crazy and I lost EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. My husband and I are planning a trip to wherever the road leads us to. I will absolutely be packing our meals to take with us. Thank you for sharing your love for food with us.
Love my Cosori...so quiet! I hear many preservers are thrilled with their freeze-dryers, too. I love dehydrating foods...they are super-lite, super-easy, & fit in smaller spaces. Freeze-drying, is quite an investment for fairly old technology, so I'm just seeing how that rolls yet, but is on my wish list, for sure...closest to 'fresh, so far. (lol My phone does way too much not to expect finer life-techs otherwise.) Putting up Pantries should be a priority right now, & much thankful blessings sent to those who show good ways to do so. It's nice when 'lost arts' are no longer 'lost', yes? And these types of 'arts' make for excellent Homeschool projects. Win-Win-Win! Thank you, & Blessings to Continuance, Darlin'!
Great ideas. I just order my food dehydrate. I do not like freeze dry food. But I love dehydrate food. Thank you for showing how to do at. I know its going to help me and others . Have a beautiful day.
Hi Lana! You are too sweet. Thank you for well wishes! Honey between work and all the events that happen around the holidays time totally slipped. I'm back to my regular positing schedule. Hope your new year is off to a great start!
I always miss your videos when you have a break, but as soon as I see a new one, I know why immediately! Your videos are just such a treat and so, so incredibly well crafted during every second!
Hello Jess! You are too sweet! Honey I am honestly trying to be more consistent in the New Year, but some times work gets crazy. I'm hoping to add more "sit and chat" videos this year, along with my canning and gardening videos. Hope you had a wonderful holiday!
So… I was watching this video just before midnight. You started talking g about that steel oats w/dates n stuff. I had everything on hand except I order oatmeal. So I literally jumped out of bed and went and made overnight oats and stuck it in the fridge for breakfast. Girrrrrl, I tasted the liquid when I was done and oh my goodness, that was so good. Can’t wait to have it for breakfast. Thank you!
I just adore you 🥰 I can't wait till you do get a freeze dryer. Your energy and enthusiastic approach to cooking and putting aside food for the future is so infectious. ❤️. I just know you will bring such great things to the kitchen when you get à freeze dryer.
Wow, that is why I like your channel so much you don't hold back any information. Out of the dozens of channels I follow for meals in jars and also the dozens, if not more books I have read or purchased, not one of them ever mentions to store the meat portion of the recipe separate from the other ingredients. Can you please tell everyone why this is important? You should also point out to your viewers, especially if their aim is to store these recipes in a (Mylar) bag. They should first store them in a glass jar for 5-7 days to make sure that no condensation or mold appears. If condensation appears, they can dehydrate the contents for a few more hours to make sure it is thoroughly dry, but you have to catch it right away before mold has the slightest chance to take hold. Welcome back! I missed you but trust you enjoyed your time away with plenty of rest sprinkled in. I’ve no idea how so many of you folks work full time and still do all this social media stuff on top of some degree of homesteading… and with so much positive energy to boot. Thank you 😊
Hi Crystal! Awww, thanks so much. It definitely is a juggling act (and I regularly drop a few balls here and there) but the sense of community that is present in the online homesteading community is a powerful pull. In my day to day not many folks "get" what I enjoy, so I feel so blessed to connect with folks just like you! Happy New Year!
Hi Patty! Firstly, Happy New Year! I didn't realize that between work and a few extra events that my family planned that I would have zero time during my brief day job break. I have several collabs coming up this month and a new canning recipe! Hope your New Year is off to a great start!
Yes girl. When we travel I pack tons of stuff. If there is a kitchen at the hotel, I cook all the stuff at home and travel with it. I put it in the fridge and just heat it all up when we come back in from our adventures. I keep it simple, breakfast sandwiches, spaghetti, salad, etc. There are five of us and it can get expensive eating out all the time.
Yvonne, honey we are peas in a pod. While I'm pretty minimal when it comes to packing my (and husbands) clothing bags, its likely because I know I'll need all the room for my electric skillet, jars, coolers to take the remnants of any fresh produce or milk I don't want to expire along with our canned goods/meals in jars. I love trips, but honey the older I get I find that I only have gotten more stubborn about shelling out money for a meal I don't enjoy. Like you, most meals are simple and its always worth it.
My husband and I bought ourselves a freeze dryer for Christmas!! So excited to start using it and preserving food left and right. Keep those awesome recipes coming! I'm taking lots of notes :) Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Nicole! Congrats on your purchase! I know having a freeze dryer is totally worth it for sure, and as I wait, I'm making sure that I get plenty of recipes together. I"m so excited that you have a freeze dryer as part of your food pantry preservation plan! Happy New Year!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Happy New Year! We've been thinking about it long and hard. I have a part-time job during December, where I'm Mrs. Claus for families on the North Pole Express in Grapevine Dallas. That money, Christmas bonus, plus credit card, made it possible. I'm so happy!
Veruca, you are just slathering on the compliments thicker than my grandma's biscuit gravy! 😊 I'm so happy you find my videos helpful. You know I struggle with OCD (Obsessive Canning Delight). Hope your New Year is off to a great start!
I love watching you. You are so entertaining and full of information. And I know other people say you need to have your own show on the Food Network but please don’t ever go. They changed you. And you don’t get to be who you are or get to do what you want to do. Love you just the way you are.
Hi Reta! It's always good to "see" you on the channel! I am more than content to share from my kitchen. I very much love my "normal" life balancing work, family and YT, which allows me to meet folks that I wouldn't have access to in my day to day. As long as the Lord gives me health and strength, I'll continue to work until retirement, live below our means so that we can move to a small homestead after my husband retires from the Navy and just live a relatively simple life in the country. All that glitters ain't gold; I know that for sure!
Oh honestly you don’t know how happy this makes me that we get to keep you. Lol and yes I understand the wait for a farm I wanted one from the time I was a little girl and used to go visit my cousins at my aunt and uncle’s farm. I always believe that God would give me one. And it wasn’t until I had been married for 45 years that I finally got it. Don’t lose hope. You are a true blessing my dear. And if you are ever in Tennessee give me a shout, or call or just come visit would love to see you here.
Made stocking stuffers with the chicken noodle one you showed first. Everyone thought I was crazy but they loved them and know how to make them now. Thanks for a few more ideas!
John! Happy New Year! My word that is a LOVELY idea and I will certainly have to keep this in mind for next year. Soup or dry mixes in jars come in handy in so many instances (gifts for the sick/shut-in, busy days at work when you need a quick meal, etc.) I'm always happy to pass along what I'm learning. Thank you for sharing this!!!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Light bulbs just went off! In my old house, I had an elderly woman as a neighbor who could not chop veggies bc her arthritis was so bad. I've since moved, but wish I had known about this then. It would have been a better way to get her healthy food. Keep the videos coming and thank you for all the inspiration!
Pre portioning freeze dried meal ingredients is super clever! It reminds me of backpacking. I also love that you can use this approach to delegate meal prep to a sous chef.
You said it best! While these meals are a small portion of my pantry they certainly come in handy between busy work days, sickness or just when I need a “cheat” day. The stress is off knowing I have everything already measured out! Happy New Year!!
Happy New year , Cassandra..I had just found your channel a few months ago and I was so excited that your videos came across my you tube page … I really enjoy your energy and I also want to move on a homestead. I pray very soon.. the odd part is that after binge watching all your videos, I got up enough nerve to write you a comment but then you disappear, I pray your family is well..I’m from Pennsylvania and would love to email you if I could to ask you a few questions about canning.. peace to you and your family .. Melissa
Just found your channel and wanna say your twists are hella bomb. This video reminds me of the Semi Homemade cooking show the food network but for homesteading. Using freeze dried food in meal preps is brilliant! Hopefully i can get a freezer dryer and a country homestead one day.
You are such an inspiration to me. I live in a small house without lots of land and dream of a small holding or similar. I love watching your video because they are so relatable! Thank you so much for sharing this video.
Hi Claire! Homestead dreamers unite! We've got this, girlfriend! Honestly, there is so much to do without land or livestock that will build your homesteading know-how. Thanks for saying 'hello' and Happy New Year to ya!
I waited 3 years for a good sale on a 9 layer Excalibur w/ timer. My airfryer has a dehydration setting, it did small batches just fine. I got the jar sealer attachment for my food saver this year for $24 on sale online. My 2 biggest preservation methods are vacuum sealing bulk dry food/freezer food & canning. There’s only 3 of us & our son leaves for college next year. I do smaller batch preservation with a lot of quick meal varieties
Aww, Joan this is so sweet. Thank you! I missed posting too, and it wasn't my intent to be away for so long but between work and several unplanned but very fun family gatherings its been a while. I've got several Jan/Feb. collabs I'll be participating in so its great to be back!
Your videos are so amazing ! You are very talented! We’re you ever able to post your sourdough pie crust recipe anywhere? I had asked before thanksgiving but I think you said you had tech challenges! Would still love to get that!
Yes! I love it when you make these videos! BTW, we lost electricity a couple of weeks ago and we still ate just fine because I had dehydrated shepherds pie in the pantry. You wanna guess where I got the idea to make that 😉 I have mushrooms delivered from a local grower and I just made some uh - may - zing mushroom powder with homegrown, dehydrated ramps, garlic scapes, onions and herbs. I added nutritional yeast and it’s great even as a medicinal sipping broth or mixed with cream on some pasta. I’ll check out Thrive life, I’m doing a 6 month savings challenge for our freeze dryer but this will help in the mean time.
Nikki! Hey lady, its always good to see you! Oh my word I am so happy that you were prepared for the power outage. The weather in my neck of the woods is supposed to get moderate snow next week and I cannot tell you how much peace of mind a pantry that doesn't rely on electricity provides. That mushroom powder sounds DIVINE and I love how you have it at the ready for broth or pasta!!!!
If you aren't making or haven't made quick beans from rosered homestead, try them. You cook any beans nearly done or just done -not mushy, still whole -dehydrate them and then use for really fast dishes since the beans are already cooked. Either alone, in soup mixes or meals in a jar.
Hi Sandra! Wait, what? I have not heard of this recipe but I’m curious to try it! I’m familiar with Rosered but this must have been one I missed. Thank you for sharing!!!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl very welcome! It's a game changer for prepping, i think. Chickpeas in the instant pot then dehydrated... Yummy snack too! You could do seasoned spicy ones for snacks😁
Great tutorial. I’ve been doing meals in jars for years! I got a harvest right last year and it’s been a game changer. My latest batch was tomato basil soup with freeze dried croutons and cheese. If I ever have a fire I’m grabbing the grandbabies, freeze dryer and my Excalibur (probably in that order.😂) Love your channel.
You are such a joy, because more young people need to subscribe and learn how to feed their bodies. Sending my brands your way. Herbal Detective, Take Care
Happy New Years, Cassandra. So glad to catch up on vid. i am a Stroke Survivior an have a autoimmune condition so when i saw all the possiblities of making quick and long term meals for myself so easy, I knew I had to be in the right place. Thank you so much for posting. Peace and Blessings in the year ahead. Sunshine State.
Maribeth! Always good to "see" you! You know that canning is my first love, but each year I try to scale just by a few jars in other areas of food preservation. Meals in jars are quick and easy to put together and really do come in handy. Happy New Year to ya!
Happy New Year Cassandra!!! I'm so excited to see this new video, since I've started my urban homesteading journey with DEHYDRATING ♥ Thank you for being such an inspiration and breaking things down in manageable ways. Can't wait to see what we accomplish in 2023💖
For on the go meals consider making individual 1/2 pint jars to heat and eat lunches at work. I've been making them for hubby for quite a while and he is the envy of the lunchroom. lol
Anna! Hey lady! Happy New Year to you, Robert and the fam! I can't wait for your upcoming "FERMENTED FEBRUARY" Recipe Collab! (Folks-if you haven't subbed to @FermentedHomestead please do, she's just as obsessed and creative at putting food in jars as I am:)
Hello sweet friend! I'm happy to be back to posting after unplugging a bit to spend time with family. Dehydrated meals in jars really come in handy. Hope your new year is off to a great start!
Hi Carey! Welcome and thank you for saying hello! You said it exactly-there are so many quick and easy projects that can really start to add up to big changes in your pantry! Dehydrating is certainly one of them!
I love doing easy. Thanks for the recipes. I agree I love cooking from my canned foods. Speaking of which, where did you get the all glass jar with the glass lids. I love it💕💕💕
Thank you, Big Momma! We are kindred spirits then. Honey I thrift almost everything you see. The brand is by WECK and I've bought a few of them, most nearly everything is a collection I've been building over the past 5 years or so.
Missouri Girl! Always lovely to see you! I hope your New Year is off to a great start. Between work and plans with the family during December my time seemed to vanish (in a good way). It's good to be back to a posting. Have a great week!
I know I asked you for more recipes like this just a week or so ago and you CAME THROUGH! Thank you! I am a couponer, and I was beyond excited to see that Ibotta has rebates on Lipton Soup boxes right now, so guess who is picking some up to put together my own soup in jar - using my freshly dehydrated mixed veggies (from a 99cent deal at my local grocery store!)!! Saving money and adding to my prepping pantry is my favorite!!! (wow...that's a lot of exclamation marks)
Lynn-the method you describe is EXACTLY how to take advantage of store sales, combine them with your own perservation methods and come out ahead with prepared meals that won't take you much time or money (and that are delish). Love this idea and honey I love building my prepper pantry too!
Hello Susan! Happy New Year Friend! You know I'm already addicted to putting anything in a jar (can it, ferment, and certainly dehydrate it). Even better meals in jars already allocate the seasonings, and fixings you need and I already have the equipment (jars, lids, break bleeder). So glad you are already convinced that these meals are worth making!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl great gifts to give others too! Also bread mixes… pizza dough mixes..the fun never stops! So great to just pull off the shelf and have it all ready. What a blessing you are!

I got a dehydrator for Christmas, and these are just the kind of recipes that I’m looking for!
Thank you for sharing. I have been eyeing a dehydrator for some time now. I never thought to buy freeze dried product to supplement what I have.
These are amazing recipes!! I have to get on the freezedryed bandwagon!
You are wonderful to watch. Charming and thoughtful. Thanks for sharing you knowledge.
Yes, another video! We have been waiting.
Cassandra, your videos are the best. The BEST.
Veruca, you are just slathering on the compliments thicker than my grandma's biscuit gravy! 😊 I'm so happy you find my videos helpful. You know I struggle with OCD (Obsessive Canning Delight). Hope your New Year is off to a great start!
Who I am going to try some of these I tell you what they look so good. Thank you for sharing.
You are a genius! Thank you for these great ideas!
So good to see a video from you! Merry late Christmas and happy new year!!
I'm enjoying your channel, so much information. Thanks
What a great idea! Never thought about meals in a jar dehydrated! Thank you 🥰
You are so welcome!
Meals in a jar a wonderful idea! Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Great idea! My husband and I are thinking of ways to stock food. We will defiantly check out thrive
Thank you for the excellent video. Looking forward to creating dehydrated dump meals.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for all the good ideas.
So good to see a new upload! I've missed you!
Aww, Joan this is so sweet. Thank you! I missed posting too, and it wasn't my intent to be away for so long but between work and several unplanned but very fun family gatherings its been a while. I've got several Jan/Feb. collabs I'll be participating in so its great to be back!
Happy New Year Cassandra, missed your videos, you are awesome 🥰
Hi Cassandra!. I missed your videos. Good to see you back. Keep them coming please.😊
I will! I took a bit of a break during Christmas, but I’m totally “back” and will be sharing my yearly behind the scenes video next week!
Yayyy. Your carrot cake jam was a hit here.
You wanna guess where I got the idea to make that 😉
I have mushrooms delivered from a local grower and I just made some uh - may - zing mushroom powder with homegrown, dehydrated ramps, garlic scapes, onions and herbs.
Oh my goodness loved this video ♥️♥️♥️!!
Sooo helpful! Thank you, Cassandra! I've been wanting to make meals in jars but just haven't done it yet. This looks so easy, and delicious.
Thank you for your great ideas and wonderful videos. But I was looking for the directions in the description box?
@@BecomingaFarmGirl actually it's fast beans not quick beans. Sorry!
RoseRed’s dehydrated instant soups look good, too, especially the broccoli cheese.
Enjoy this video! Thanks.
I'm so glad to see a new video! They are so entertaining and informative. You put so much into them. Thank you! 😊
Heidi! Always good to see you! Blame it on my OCD (obsessive canning delight)! Happy New Year!
Hey! We've missed you. Hope all is well. Glad to see you back in the kitchen!
You are too sweet! The holiday was so busy this year but yes, I’m glad to be “back”!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl 🙌🏿💜
Great tutorial. I’ve been doing meals in jars for years! I got a harvest right last year and it’s been a game changer. My latest batch was tomato basil soup with freeze dried croutons and cheese. If I ever have a fire I’m grabbing the grandbabies, freeze dryer and my Excalibur (probably in that order.😂) Love your channel.
Hey lady!!!! HUGE congrats at being a presenter at HOA!!!! I was so excited when @Mennonite Farmhouse called me!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Love these recipes thanks for posting
Wow! This is an awesome video, thanks for the idea.
So Glad you liked it, Denise!
You are such a joy, because more young people need to subscribe and learn how to feed their bodies. Sending my brands your way. Herbal Detective,
Take Care
Happy New Years, Cassandra. So glad to catch up on vid. i am a Stroke Survivior an have a autoimmune condition so when i saw all the possiblities of making quick and long term meals for myself so easy, I knew I had to be in the right place. Thank you so much for posting. Peace and Blessings in the year ahead. Sunshine State.
Happy New Year Rene! I"m so glad you found this helpful. And yes, having quick pantry meals on the shelf comes in handy in all types of situations.
Oh my gosh! I've missed you & your videos!
And this one was awesome!!!
Thank you kindly, sweet friend!
Love this idea! I haven’t gotten into dehydrating yet, but it’s in my bucket list.
Maribeth! Always good to "see" you! You know that canning is my first love, but each year I try to scale just by a few jars in other areas of food preservation. Meals in jars are quick and easy to put together and really do come in handy. Happy New Year to ya!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl yes! And meals in jars is something I want to incorporate into my stash of food!
Happy New Year Cassandra!!! I'm so excited to see this new video, since I've started my urban homesteading journey with DEHYDRATING ♥ Thank you for being such an inspiration and breaking things down in manageable ways. Can't wait to see what we accomplish in 2023💖
🎉 Happy New Year to you too, honey! You can totally do this and starting with dehydrating is the way to go! Keep me posted on your progress!
Holy smokes sister! That blew my mind!
Looking forward to trying these thanks enjoyed this 😊
You’re welcome 😊
For on the go meals consider making individual 1/2 pint jars to heat and eat lunches at work. I've been making them for hubby for quite a while and he is the envy of the lunchroom. lol
Love your channel, recipes and energy. Thank you so much! God Bless!
You are so welcome
I’ve missed you! I’ve never tried dried meals in a jar but I sure want to now!
Anna!
So nice to see a video from you today! I love your tips, your energy and how inspiring you are. Thank you!
Hello sweet friend! I'm happy to be back to posting after unplugging a bit to spend time with family. Dehydrated meals in jars really come in handy. Hope your new year is off to a great start!
I'm new to your channel but I am learning so much and really enjoy the quick easy way you do things.
Hi Carey! Welcome and thank you for saying hello! You said it exactly-there are so many quick and easy projects that can really start to add up to big changes in your pantry! Dehydrating is certainly one of them!
You so need to make a cookbook 🌞♥️
I love doing easy. Thanks for the recipes. I agree I love cooking from my canned foods. Speaking of which, where did you get the all glass jar with the glass lids. I love it💕💕💕
Thank you, Big Momma! We are kindred spirits then. Honey I thrift almost everything you see. The brand is by WECK and I've bought a few of them, most nearly everything is a collection I've been building over the past 5 years or so.
Very smart...thank you for sharing..
I just love your channel!
Missouri Girl! Always lovely to see you! I hope your New Year is off to a great start. Between work and plans with the family during December my time seemed to vanish (in a good way). It's good to be back to a posting. Have a great week!
Hey Sis! Good to see ya! 🤗
I love these assembly jars! So smart!
Take care!
Nicky!!!! Lady, how are you, so good to see your face! Happy New Year!!!
This is one of my favorite things to do! Meals on a jar!! So much fun and the later blessings are spectacular! Happy New Year! Glad your back!
