    ASUS GTX 1060 6GB Turbo
    16GB DDR4 RAM @ 3000MHz

    Kediers C570 open air case with 7 RGB fans. I already had a PSU and storage but I bought a 1TB NVME M.2 for about $40 for faster load times. Was this a good deal for $300 despite the PC not coming with a PSU or storage?

It works for her, but shes not doing anything intensive on it. I'd upgrade you GPU to something a bit more modern, that i7 you have can handle way more, maybe go with a 2060 super, or even a 3060.

      Workstations are overengineered and rugged, considering they're designed to be often used like servers; crunching data 24/7.
      The Z440 has 8+4 Phase VRM's... Which is above average, especially considering you can't overclock a Xeon.
      If you want a quick sense of how overbuilt a Workstation is compared to an office PC, just lift one up... The size and weight are their only drawback.

A word of caution is that the PSU will need to be manually turned off at the switch, otherwise your components never power down.

      It's interesting to know also that HP sells a power pc with a rx580 that only has a 300 watt power supply in it and it works fine. RX580 only uses 150 watts when tested.

      Your best bet would be going with what the minimum requirements would be to play that game and build something with thise specs or better.

    • @ineligible2267
      @ineligible2267 11 месяцев назад

      Depends on how you'd be fine with playing it, if you would be fine with a 30FPS experience then something like an RTX 2080 would let you play at native 1440p on medium settings. For 1080p you could go down to an RTX 2070 and see a similar experience. The game does favour AMD cards however, so something like an RX 6600 XT would be a good option too.
      Starfield is incredibly GPU-intensive, a modern i3-12100 even with the stock cooler and a cheap LGA1700 board can produce 60+ FPS even in cities if it's paired with a powerful GPU and it would let you upgrade to 13th/14th gen CPUs if you wanted, but getting a solid 60FPS experience in this game on a budget is very difficult without lowering graphics quite significantly.
      Besides this 16GB of DDR4 is cheap these days and if you run it in dual-channel with XMP you'll be all good with RAM, Starfield seems to like high memory bandwidth. You could install Windows and the game onto a cheap 500GB NVME SSD from Amazon - pair all of this with something like an EVGA 650 BR for the higher-end cards or a 600W version for the lower-end ones and you'd have a good baseline system to put into a budget case

      If you don’t want to upgrade your psu I would recommend looking around at power specs for different cards, anything under 50w is ideal but if you have the budget I’d suggest getting a 500-600w power supply and looking for a rx 580 or similar, they’re usually pretty cheap and will run most new games on low to medium settings

      If you combine DLSS with DLDSR you can improve the visual quality in some games compared to native resolutions. You have to set the DLDSR sharpening slider to 50% or even 60% to make it work fully. Other than that I only use DLSS for RT.

    Do you need the 6 pin to power the gpu? If your test showed it only drew 56w can't the pcie slot provide 75w making the power cable redundant?

    • @KomradeMikhail
      @KomradeMikhail 11 месяцев назад +2

      Some OEM boards don't push the full 75w spec maximum. The adapter gives peace of mind... Plus some cards don't boot without connectors attached.

    those temps tho, high 80C's and should give a modders community the benefit of the doubt with the drivers, usually this situation requires dedicated modders who care about reputation, so i'd give it a go if i was LF a good gpu on a budget and the a2000 sounds like one :)
