    I’m obsessively jumping between 3:40 and 4:41 just to hear the amazing effect yield by the character knob on the clean signal! 😍

    I really like the tone on 4:40 sec, nice CLEAN and AGGRESSIVE.
    Also I am not a very big fan of overly distorted bass tones, for me it works when I have organic clean and aggressive tone, to cut thru the mix, which these days a lot of bass players think that the only way of getting aggressive tone, to cut thru , is to crank the gain , or add a lot of distortion.
    I think when you already have aggressive mix with a big wall of distorted guitars, the bass sits better in the mix , when it is clean and crisp and supports the low end.
    This video , really shows you how this pedal works.
    It can give you any sound that you will ever like or need, even works when is used with distortion pedals, to change the character of the distortion.

      I'm super glad to not have any ultra pedal. It just make sense to have D.I. all over a pedalboard. Either just put a small D.I. box for $30 or better yet grab a DSM & Humboldt Bass Simplifier to be able to have D.I. on the whole chain.

    Playing that Dingwall and then the Dolphin back to back it is unbelievable the difference! The depth and character that the Dolphin has over the Dingwall was immense. I understand that the DW has its place especially in the distorted realm but i was shocked how drastic the difference between them both is. I use the Source audio Aftershock in exactly the same way as this pedal was demoed for the AO it really adds a nicer character to the drive for sure!

    • @funkingitup1805

      It's basically an EQ pedal, so it would normally be placed after the distortion. The way mine is set, it mid scoops through the character knob, then slightly enhances treble. The boost is useless for my solid state amp. If someone has an active bass with a mid frequency selector, then the basic EQ is actually pointless too. The only feature really is the Chracter knob. It is very similar to the mid-cut knobs on certain bass amps. My MarkBass amp calls it "VLF". My SWR amp calls it "Aural Enhancer".

      @crguti An ultra of this pedal doesn't seem like it would make any sense. It's basically just an EQ pedal with a boost function. I have a harmonic booster in my chain after an Alpha Omicron and a Microtubes X. No ultra pedals at all. It just let's me add in a little brightness boost and mid-cut if desired.

      It's an EQ pedal. It goes after the distortion ideally. The EQ on ultra pedals is also post-drive for what it's worth. Before the distortion it will have less effect and the EQ on the AO will dominate.

    All these videos about Dark Glass Pedals is great, but how do these pedals sound when you add in the good ole staples such as....Compression, 6 to 9 band EQ's, and a Wah Pedal with Volume and such . The question i am getting at is are these effects as good when you find the sound you like and then add non-dark glass pedals too them to help "support" your new aquired sound and then build upon it.

    • @funkingitup1805
      @funkingitup1805 Год назад

      The Harmonic Booster is basically just an EQ pedal. Another EQ pedal is pretty redundant. I've got a Cali76 and Dunlop Crybaby Bass wah before an Alpha Omicron in to a Microtubes X into a Harmonic Booster. Works great. I also played a Bassballs before them and that works well. I've got a C4 Synth pedal before them too. Some settings on the C4 work with them, but many do not, but that's to be expected as there are currently about 2,500 effect variations downloadable for the C4. After the Darkglass I've got a Fuzz, SansAmp, a chorus, and a reverb. The Fuzz doesn't like the distortions much, but otherwise everything works together.

      All of the Ultra pedals have 2 channels, right? The Harmonic Booster is just an EQ pedal. What would the 2nd channel be? Lol. Just get a DSM & Humboldt bass simplifier, and end the silliness of paying a fortune for a $30 D.I. box built into a pedal.

      Just buy a $30 D.I. box or a $300 DSM and Humboldt Bass Simplifier if you want more options. Then you'll never care about pedal D.I. again. The Harmonic Booster it more-or-less just an EQ pedal. There's no drive or cab sim built in. It doesn't make any sense to have the size be bigger to add D.I. in.

      @funkingitup1805 Год назад

      Probably not coming as that sounds like a bad idea. Ultras include 2 channels, right. The Harmonic Booster is really just an EQ pedal without a drive or a cab sim. What would the 2nd channel be? It just makes no sense. If you want a D.I. box they cam be had for as little as $30. D.I. really belongs at the end of the chain anyway. It doesn't belong on every single pedal.

    I really love your products, Darkglass but you've lost my trust. Every time I decide to buy one of your products you come out with an updated or deluxe version only months later, leaving me feeling shafted. Your stuff aint cheap! You should offer your loyal patrons something if they've previously bought one of your products and you come out with an updated version less than a year or so later. I, for one, would be more inclined to buy this pedal.

    • @funkingitup1805
      @funkingitup1805 Год назад

      Stop buying deluxe. There's almost no point. The Harmonic Booster is basically just a well-tailored bass EQ pedal. Get the small distortion pedals. Put a separate compressor pedal at the front of the chain. Put a $30 mini D.I. box at the end. If you want to get fancier with your chain, buy a DSM and Humboldt bass simplifier. Putting D.I. on every pedal is silly and the cable is often blocked. Just do it in a more intelligent way and save some money at the same time.
