@@PhilosophicalCat Everyone has their choices. But by now if you've not known that the notes start losing their pitch once the strings get too old, I feel bad for you dude.
In an ideal world, Nate should review all the bass products, especially the stompboxes because his demonstration is: a) skilled as hell in terms of technique and yet played quite approachable to everyone, regardless of style preferences and b) he's didactic in his demonstrations and very passionate while doing it, but at the same time he never exceeds into subjectivity and drama-stlye performance or explicit emotional bias towards certain products/manufacturers. Keep your marvelous approach for many years ahead, Nate, you're great inspiration to me!
I just got the Geddy Lee YYZ sansamp and it really brings dead strings back to life as well. very impressed with someone of the pedals coming out these days
I've become addicted to preamps.I love the YYZ and the 2112 is a little more versatile.Might be my G.O.A.T. along with the Bass Butler. But this is definitely a great one too, just different.
This pedal is a vital part of my sound, especially given that I play with some vintage acoustic amps, that don’t have that many tone shaping options, this is like adding 6 knobs to my amp, I love it.
I like how u mentioned not needing new strings as often because I had my preamp on my x ultra pumped and it sounded so bright I was like wow low key I can avoid money strings for a while, lol great playing as always Nate!! Would love to see you play a dark ray!!
I've recently found used Harmonic Booster in mint condition for a fair price and wanted to partly satisfy my curiosity about DG products, so it seemed like a fair starter. I've tried putting it as the first unit in the signal chain, and after the two stacked overdrives (Battalion+MXR M80). Putting it AFTER the overdrive suits my sound taste much, much better - Its 'character' knob works great (and noticeably better) when the unit is put after the already overdriven signal - it seems to me that it blends in/out that 'Darkglass sound engine' which adds a lot of brightness/crispness and attack to the sound, even when all the EQ knobs on it are set completely flat because its EQ works at the same boost/cut levels, no matter at which position the 'character' is set. Cheers!
I've been on the fence about this pedal for a long time, and I've watched many videos demoing it, but yours is the one that actually convinced me to go for it. No one demonstrated the "old strings sounding new" again as convincingly as you did. (I do wonder if I could achieve the same result with just plugins though.)
Hi Nate. So I really want to buy the Jackson bass you played in this video, but in that blue finish. And I was just wondering how is your experience with it? The bass I am looking for is impossible to find in Belgium so it is going to be a coinflip and I want some extra info about it. I was also looking into the Ibanez sr1300 premium, but I just love the finish on the Jackson. I play a lot of slap funk, rock, even metal like TOOL. I have a small band where we play rock covers from bands like the peppers or we just jam around and than we end up with funk rock most of the time. Would recommend it? Thanks in advance and have a great day!
Again, Great stuff 👍👍. Do you ever plug in via audio interface directly or is it always best sound with amps and such if using for exemple Ableton or similar daw for recording? Again, Great stuff!!!🙂👍

Noooo now bassists are never going to replace strings
Thats what my poor ass is all about :D
You can replace bass strings?
@@notrenbanney2450 Trust me, nothing sounds trashier than a set of old bass strings.

Whoa!!!!!!!! Loved the video especially the dull string part where the strings came back to life
One of the best Bass preamps/ booster out there. So simple, so good and clean, dynamic and boomy.
Your playing is next level
Awesome demo

Yes! Now we got that crunchy sound without needing to ruin the dynamics with a compressor!

This is the best demo for this .I finally understand it.I was approaching it in more of an eq way(it is) but it's much more. Great show in Boston.
I have been using one for years ... An exciter.
Nate always over-delivers with these tasty riffs for the review videos
I always have a lot of questions after watching a demo like this. Not this time. Excellent. Thanx!

Finally, an inverse rangemaster for bass.

Awesome demo, Nate. 😎🤘🏻🎸that preamp pedal sounds pretty cool. And that composition you did in the beginning sounded awesome.
Much appreciated, Alex. :)
Lots of sub bass, liked the Jackson through it. Might be a cool always on pedal but I wonder if in recordings, the lows don’t get passes anyway?
Thank you from Brazil!,🇧🇷
Bass question,*Would you have this pedal after your compressor ? I'm building a board lately & was wondering about placement/signal chain.
Killing it Nate
I want to go Darkglass and say "Just give me one of each please!"
Every single fucking hardware they have is so cool and well made
Nate you is epic bassist
The old string demo was rather mind blowing!
Just made a purchase for the pedale, through your link 👍. And with that I also bought the combo amp Ashdown Toneman c115 Evo3 😄
Damn that groovy bass line tho
Again, Great stuff 👍👍.
Do you ever plug in via audio interface directly or is it always best sound with amps and such if using for exemple Ableton or similar daw for recording?
Again, Great stuff!!!🙂👍
It depends what interface you have, its usually better to go through an amp because the headroom of the interface can be low
@@dmcarter1512 does an effect pedal makes any sens between the bass and audio interface?
Hi Nate!!! Your videos are incredible!!! devastating sounds!! I would like them to combine MXU and HB!!!! With your Spector!!!!!
Love the lucky cat shirt!
MIGHTY FINE VIDEO NATE
WOW, what a difference. From dull to bright instantly.
Thank you
What do you play when you're uninspired?
Ok…dumb question…is this basically an Exciter???
Is the bass riff at the start of the video an original idea or is it from a song? I feel like it’s really familiar and I can’t place it🤦🤦
Is the drive sound coming from boosting the amp or is it the pedal clipping?
Noooooooo I need one now!
Almost seems like a larger outboard version if the Tone Capsule
Clean chungus achieved! 10/10

That “stank face” means he enjoys the pedal’s tone!
Big Muff becomes a Giant Muff with this...
What brand is that multiscale? I cant read the brand on the headstock clearly
The green one is a dingwall
I was curious too, had to dig it up from one of his other videos. It's the Franz Wega 5 multiscale.
Wow, use it boost the fretless mooah!
They should put DI for this :(
❤🎶🎵❤🎶🎵❤
That intro riff was Nooooooooooooooooooooooorty
they should have made it top-mounted; oh, well.
Accidentally put on his sister's shirt that day?
Ok you MUST be a rhythm bot or smth
