Great review and I love these chairs. I'm 6'2" and 275 lbs and these work amazing. I keep them on my overland rig and on my tour bike. Well worth the money!
@@kimwatts6338 out of curiosity, which chair did your husband end up going with? It's a struggle, it really is, to find dependable, strong gear that will hold up to heavier individuals. I'm sure I'm not the only one. If you can attach a link to whichever chair your husband chose, that would be awesome!
Mine is still going strong. Had it over a year now and used it around 50 times. Go the adjustable one. The pockets hold my beer or phone. Haha. Well worth it the 40 bucks Canadian I paid.
I love these chairs. Bought them after Christmas in a 2 pack on amazon for 49.99. One chair came without the adjustable sleeves with the feet for the legs, they immediately sent me a whole new frame for the chair. Great customer service. I am 6'3 and very comfortable for what they are. Big fan, love your videos.
I got mine this week and absolutely no regrets. I weigh 240 pounds ,have real bad arthritis in one knee and recently broke the tibial bone in the other knee and I’m able to get off the adjustable chair with relative ease. I bought my chair for going hiking and doing day trips with my granddaughter.
Great review, Luke! I love sitting around the campfire in these chairs...comfortable and at the right height. Worth the extra weight. Mine weighs one pound and I strap it on my pack without the carry bag. I replaced the original feet with golf ball sized caps that keep it from sinking into soft ground (can be bought on Amazon).
Bought the none adjustable version a few weeks ago an absolutely love it.....really comfortable really good value for money paid just under £30 ( uk) for it....would highly recommend it great to take out on day hikes.....so what you all waiting for!
I have the non-adjustable version and love it but wasn't aware of the adjustable one at the time. I take them backpacking all the time it's so nice to have a real seat.
I love my adjustable Sportneer! My wife and I both love them even though they do not make it out on all of our hikes. My wife loves the chair but hates the extra weight , even on day hikes. For me, it is not problem. I have lost 30 lbs in the past 12 months so 2 lbs is nothing for me to carry! We love taking them on short hikes where we will often hike out to a back country campsite, make lunch and coffee and hike back (sound familiar?). I just ordered an aluminum topper for my truck bed and I think they will be the perfect height for sitting in the truck bed or for camping in the bed of the truck. You should test them out in your truck bed the next time you go camping in your truck. I have been waiting for you to do another truck bed camping video and I'm interested in seeing if you build it out. There are lots of great truck bed camping videos on YT by a lot of creative and clever people. We have a really nice truck camper that is fully loaded for our travels (1998 Lance Legend 990) but I am looking forward to doing some camping in the bed of the truck once my truck topper is built. I have a 2007 F350 DRW Supercab V10 with 4WD and the truck topper is going to allow me to go further off road than my large Lance will due to its 3-foot rear overhang. Thanks for doing this review! I look forward to each new video!
Just received my 2 sportneer chairs.your review is spot on.they are great chairs.no regrets.my advice for a few quid is go for the adjustable chairs.but these are a good product.
Thanks for introducing a usable product that I have almost given up on. I'm a 260 lb backpacker, and have broken two similarly designed chairs rated to 275lb. I'll give this one rated to 350 a try, especially on uneven ground, and let you know. I think that uneven ground loads the components of any of these type chairs beyond the capacity of the component being stressed. Site selection is worth a mention for this type of chair. The chair is fast transitioning from a luxury to an essential item.
Hey guys. I have 2 of theese chairs, the adjustable version, and as Luke says, they are realy good. I have used them for 6 month now, and had no problems what so ever with both chairs. I am a big guy myself. 1.9m (6.2 ft) and i almost always have them on the middle setting, and they are great, to get into and out of. I am roughly 200 pounds and they hold my weight no problem. They are rated at 158kg (348 pounds) I can only recommend them to you guys. Have a good day, and take care.
Note on price: My wife and I just purchased 2 of the adjustable chairs from Amazon based on this review and got a discount. 2 chairs for $52 dollars (1 chair would have been ~$34 as stated in this video).
Great chairs! I bought 2 last year. Other than the excellent price, the weight capacity is why I purchased it. I’m 6’1” and 250(ish) pounds. Works great and my 8 year old son loves it too. Great for kayaking when you stop for lunch too.
Great review Luke thanks! I just ordered one today. I have the Alite Monarch Butterfly Chair that I paid over $50 for. Downside of that chair is that the 4 corner supports merge into 2 and you have to balance when sitting in it. It won't stand upright on its own. Can't wait to use this one. You make it look comfortable.
I own the nonajustable version and have had it for a couple of years now, great chair. I bought after market feet for mine,I live in Florida lots of soft sandy soil and the feet I got are about the size of half a tennis ball, and it still fits in the storage bag just remove the feet before you pack it up.
I'm 6'2" and I have an adjustable model (different manufacturer) and find it really comfortable. One modification I would like to see is the addition of mud feet (perhaps removable) to stop the chair sinking in soft ground or deep leaf litter.
I have the non adjustable and like it quite a bit. I put small tennis balls on the feet (dog toy size) to help keep the legs from sinking in soft ground. I’ve also removed the legs and just used the seat to save some weight and you can kind of rock back and forth in it too. One of the handles on the bag became unstitched so I had to use a different way of securing it to my pack as it rides outside on the bottom. That’s the only problem I’ve ever had with mine over the last 2 years.
The Helinox Chair Zero weighs 16 ounces, making it a no-brainer if you can afford it - it’s half the weight of this chair. IMO a 2-pound chair is a car camping chair (and if you’re car camping you might as well bring a 4-pound chair that’s more comfortable), but some people are on a tight budget and might not spring for a Chair Zero.
In the video, you didn't use the pull tabs in assembling the TOP of the chair material to the poles that are the back of the chair. I just rec'd my adjustable Sportneer this p.m. I put a grey Sharpie mark on one big plastic part & another mark on the end of the bag it was in B4 removing the chair from the bag. This helped me put it back into the bag with very little fuss. Chair Material, the top of the back material & the 2 pull tabs made it easy peasy to attach the top of the back to the poles. The pull tabs are shown in a picture on the ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS that are included with each chair. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada
Just got the adjustable chairs today. They are comfortable. This is my first time having a chair like this. I was looking into the REI before this review. When reaching for something they seem a little unstable but I'm sure this is typical of these styles of chairs.
I have 2 chairs very similar to these, both are different brands. One of these chairs has very similar feet to the Sportneer, the other has a wider foot which makes a noticeable difference not sinking in sand. The foot is best described an approximate 2" diameter washer just above the foot. We have used these for a few years kayak camping & hiking & love them, I see a tall back version on the market now.
I have these and they’re awesome. I have the adjustable ones because of the side pockets: beer in one, my phone in the other. (Never bother adjusting the height since I just put my legs out like a recliner)
I have been looking for one these chairs for a little while but I did not want to spend $100 or more thank you for your review I am getting the non-adjustable one I have an Ozark trail Walmart one that is metal and heavy
I have the REI Flexlite, which is a good hiker chair, weighing 1.75 lbs. The included carrying bag has webbing, so it is easy to attach to the outside of a pack.
I've had the no name chinese non adjustable one for almost 2 years now, very happy with it. The only con is that on loose surface, it obviously sinks and that's how you risk to break the chair. But Trekology sells a mat that prevents the chair from sinking. Fits perfectly on mine.
I have the Nice C version which is almost 98% similar to this fix version. I love it. I don't mind the weight cause i do want to be able to sit and be comfy after a long hike. Having swelling issues it helps me a lot. For the weight difference with the famous Helinox ... well, it's way too small compared to the huge difference in price. Thanks for sharing
Good review Luke i have been using a chair (different company probably made from the same company) like this for over a year and had no problems love the adjustable legs and for the price very nice chair. Stay safe my brother and say hi to Susan.
I own the non adjustable chair. I’ve been very pleased. I’m 6’ 1” and about 250 lbs. my only complaint is that the shock cord seems to be wearing out after just a one week camping trip. I’m not sure how easily that will be to replace. I’ve done it with tent poles, but I’m not sure where the cord anchors in these frames.
Nice review! Just put them an my Amazon wish list! Non-adjustable 2-pack of chairs on Amazon for $49.99 / Adjustable 2-pack of chairs on Amazon for $52.99 + free shipping for waiter set.
thanks luke! been dyeing to know what they were since I saw them in your vid a month or so ago. back injury, need a chair at camp. that's been holding me back from hiking again.
Perfect timing, I looked at my saved Helinox xl on Amazon last night and was bummed the price had went up $50 ( I deleted it from my wishlist at that price). For two times cheaper I can buy 2 of these👍 BTW the hack for the helinox is to cut a hole in tennis balls and use those for a footprint on the legs to minimize sinking.
Love the chairs. I do have a similar one... there is a similar chair but that has some support for your neck and back of the head. I would like to see a review on that one. Thank you for the review. Looking forward to see more. Regards from PR.
awsome review was going to get these for the beach but decieded not to they look uncomfortable under neath the leg part but i like the size small and compact..
Hello mate, hope youre all well. I have a cheaper adjustable version. I am 6ft 2in and find if i lower the front legs its perfect for low tasks such as food prep or cooking. And when im done i extend the front legs and lower the back legs its perfect to lean back against a tree or whatever. On the lowest setting i can just fit inside my polish laavu. Bloody awesome.ATB👍👍👍
Good review and it matches my experience with these chairs. I usually take them canoe camping because the weight isn’t a factor I use lighter options for hiking.
Thanks for the review Luke! I think I would like the adjustable chair better. Nice price too, I didn't feel like paying $70 to over $100! for most of the chairs I've seen that were the same damn thing!!
what about the durability of these chairs? I've had similar ones that broke within a year worth of tripping. the plastic X broke, the poles went through the fabric...
The feet sink into the ground. Check out the Travelchair Joey Model 7789. Has disk shape feet. Otherwise buy some rebar caps at Home Depot or use tennis balls. If you set out several of these chairs of varying height at camp, the higher ones get taken first.
I would have been interested, but I picked up the Walmart version for $20 last summer and it's done a fine job. I believe it checks in a little north of 3#, however. I don't think I'd go with one of these just to save a pound simply because I likely wouldn't take any of them backpacking. If I upgrade, I'd likely look at one I CAN take, which would be one of those currently in the one pound range. The price point between those and the adjustable version here is close enough that I'd just go the extra $30 for the portability.
Luke first love your videos. Second for those of us who are not capable of buying the fantastic outdoor gear can you Please do some reviews on the Walmart camping and hiking products. Thank you for your amazing reviews.
Just ordered the adjustable off Amazon Australia for AUD$49.99. I'm 6'1" and 319lbs and 60 with ex-military knees so I might keep a hiking pole or stick handy. I bought the chair because I'm going back to hiking after car camping for years so need the 'comforts' but not the weight. I can spare 1kg for keeping me off the ground because if it is hard for me to get out of this chair, it is a major struggle getting off the ground these days. As always, excellent review, thankyou.
@@supernova1976 It does hold my weight. My only complaint is it is wobbly. My wife and daughter both love it but they are lighter than I am. I have three but I use a simple X style folding stool; lighter and works better for me. I lan to do a video on stools... stay tuned.
@@fatmanfaffing4116 Had a look at your X style chair in your Hexie stove video , it looks sturdy, my only issue is the cross bar in front cuts the circulation to the back of my legs . I had a nice chair that didn't sag stayed almost completely flat without any bar across the front, it finally rusted after 10 years 😂. Looking to replace that.
@@supernova1976 Sometimes I sit North South, sometimes East West; whatever feels most comfortable. I also have a collapsible plastic stool I use in the Pistol range video and the stealth video near my house. It is light and easy to carry but bright blue so I cover it with a sandbag. Not the most comfy. For that I use a huge folding camp chair whenever I camp next to the car.
@3:40 what kind of camp folding chair does your 6'2 buddy use? Lol. That's the real question! To get into it further, most of these types of chairs have a weight capacity of around 330 lb... The Helinox line for example. For us larger folks watching your channel, you don't know how painful it is to sift through hundreds of RUclips videos saying that the weight capacity is 400 lb (Moon Lence), 350 lb, etc, only to find out that they break after 2 or 3 uses. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is all yours if you have a great suggestion for a compact, light, folding camp chair that will hold a true 400 lb person. If you can do a video in conjunction with say one or two of your larger friends, and have their input and their opinion in the video, that would be awesome!
Another great video! I like the adjustable idea a lot. I tried another brand that cost 3 times as much but weighed only a pound. Crazy right? ONE POUND! It was 11" high (a little too low), well made. Just not worth the extra $$$.. I'll be grabbing a couple of these with the adjustible legs. Thanks!
My wife and I had a high back version of those chairs, (great around the fire, some place to rest your head) very comfortable but getting out of them was not so easy for a couple of old farts. Returned them and found a similar high back chair that had a seat hight of 18" which is standard hight for chairs. Much better for us of the old generation..lol Great channel , enjoy the reviews and adventures.. Steve
I own 2 of these (adjustable) and my BIGGEST gripe is trying to fold it back up and get it back into the undersized bag. You'll waste more time fussing with that than any other camp chore. We don't even use the bags anymore and just wrap things up with a rubber band. I don't know why companies fail often with this.
I really like that adjustable one.. when are you ever really on flat ground?!? I have a similar non adjustable one in the same price range...it's awesome...not only good for camping/hiking but for music festivals with multiple stages. I'm 6'3" and it's fine...holds up to 250lbs or so easily.
I just saw this review. I am interested in the adjustable chair, but cannot find it anywhere. Did Sportneer go out of business or do they not make this chair anymore????
I have the REI version. I like them but for only hard ground. The feet have a tendency to sink in soft ground and cause instability. Other than that, work well.
Chair Buddies feet increase the stability of lightweight camping chairs on soft ground. A set of 4 weighs only 5.3 oz and can be used with chairs of many brands, including Rei Flexlite chair range. www.chairbuddies.com
I've got 2 similar(non adjustable) chairs and the matching folding table made by OEX, alot more handy for car/bike/wild camping (or hiking into the hills as you colonials say ;-) ) etc or when you turn up at the inlaws house and there's no room at the inn.......
There's a mesh I found from another manufacturer that the legs fit into if its the same size and gives a flat surface for the chair to sit on for soft ground such as sand.
Adjustable seems silly to me, since I tend to shift frequently when sitting around. This would likely mean I have to readjust every time I move. But I could see some value if, say you are on a hill and need to cant the chair back or forward to keep it balanced. Con 2 is the bag seems to not have straps that would work well for attaching the chair to the outside of your pack. Otherwise, the cost and overall specs are good, and a chair is a fantastic luxury item, even if you're multi-day hiking
@@rickdobbins5297 do you still have the same chair? How is it holding up two and a half years later? Curious, because it's so hard finding strong, Dependable chairs for people that are 300 lb plus.
I have been looking at these and similar chairs, but have been reluctant to purchase. I do a lot of camping/hiking in old sand dunes along the great lakes. A lot of other chair types suffer from legs constantly sinking into the sandy soil. Another problem I have had with other chairs is sand getting into the mechanisms making adjustments no longer slide. Has anyone run into similar issues with this style chair?
Justin Treptow I have the helinox chair one, and the sand mat is a must! I can sit anywhere on the dunes of Lake Michigan and watch the sun set. Very handy at Nordhouse Dunes by Ludington

The chairs look comfortable. I have the three legged stool type, it’s surprisingly comfortable.
what about the durability of these chairs?
As always, excellent review, thankyou.
did it hold the weight ?
@@supernova1976 It does hold my weight. My only complaint is it is wobbly. My wife and daughter both love it but they are lighter than I am. I have three but I use a simple X style folding stool; lighter and works better for me. I lan to do a video on stools... stay tuned.
@@fatmanfaffing4116 Thanks for the feedback 🙏.
Wow... adjustable! Nice one, and two only cost $53. Getting them soon.
I have a chair just like that one and I really like it!
Thanks for the review! Would you recommend them over the OneTigris chair (which you have previously reviewed)?
Bought an REI one for double the price a few years ago. Love it though
Luke have u seen the underquilt they make for these chairs?? I think u can get them at Dutchware Hammocks
Awesome video thanks for posting this 👍
Another great video! Thanks!
Though similiar, what would you say is the better choice. This adjustable chair or the OneTigris?
Thanks I'm buying one today
Both chairs look great. The price is good. But I think I'll go with the adjustable chair. Dennis
Nice , especially the adjustable one .
I like them chairs..I like the adjustable one the best..both are great...love the review...everyone needs a chair for camping..
I wonder if these would be ok on a river sandbank. I paddle board camp and dont always use my Jerry chair on trips. This might could replace it
I really like that adjustable one.. when are you ever really on flat ground?!? I have a similar non adjustable one in the same price range...it's awesome...not only good for camping/hiking but for music festivals with multiple stages. I'm 6'3" and it's fine...holds up to 250lbs or so easily.
Snow and single digit temp friendly?
I just saw this review. I am interested in the adjustable chair, but cannot find it anywhere. Did Sportneer go out of business or do they not make this chair anymore????
I paid $22 on eBay. Lighter is better and I'm happy to have a place to sit!
Did I just see you using the Wildo Camp-a-box mess kit? I was about to pull the trigger on one. Update please!
These are awesome I might get a couple
I love mine but on soft ground they sink in without four small pieces of wood
currently amazon has the adjustable 2pack for $52.99 plus tax
I just bought the adjustable version. Can’t work out how to put it back in the bag 😂
What about durability
Luke, What is the weight capacity of the two chairs?
The adjustable one doesn't look like it would keep the weight rating if extended out. Does anyone have experience with that. I'm 250.
I love Mine However they sink into the ground if at all soft I have lost The Foot and caps Plan on using Hiking Pole Cap As replacements
There's a mesh I found from another manufacturer that the legs fit into if its the same size and gives a flat surface for the chair to sit on for soft ground such as sand.
@@kenjepsen4579 can you tell me what the name is
@@turtlefootoutdoors6324 Trekology makes one. Campgeeks did a review a year ago on RUclips..
Thank you, adjustable chair for me!
It does have Molle hoops on it which means it could be securely fastened to the outside of a backpack.
6' and 285#s. Any chance this holds me?
Dank Jay I'm 6' 295 and it holds me only used a few times but so far its worked great.
@@rickdobbins5297 do you still have the same chair? How is it holding up two and a half years later? Curious, because it's so hard finding strong, Dependable chairs for people that are 300 lb plus.
Yes I still have them And they still work great
@@rickdobbins5297 that's awesome to hear! :)
@Dank Jay did you end up getting the chair? How is it holding up?
Excellent
Can we all play musical chairs in them?
Thanks, I’ve been wondering about these. Question: What is the weight limit?
3:41 350lbs
zlot4hire wow, that’s a lot! Thanks!
