I just checked both chairs and the seat height for the NEMO is 1.5" higher than the Helinox Chair Zero. I've had the Chair Zero for several years and love it but I love my NEMO products and am now considering getting this for several reasons based on your review. Thanks for pointing out the differences, Dan and Emmett! 😁

I know with all the gear channels these days it's hard to not feel like you're missing out. But when it's a marginal difference and you've already paid a lot of money for what is still a great product.. don't bother!

I am very glad to see your review/preview of this chair. The other Nemo chairs I own are phenomenal. I quite often carry the elite's HD brother the Moonlite. Instead of the Rei flexlite or Mayfly mantis, due to being more comfortable. I could care less about the extra pound. But NOW this!!! I am geeked to try it. The case/ground attachment is great for both sand and snow. Or both if you hike the lake MI sand dunes in the winter. Thank you!

I am still using my Thermarest sling that my sleeping pad goes into. It is probably 25 years old and still doing just fine. I like that I can use it in my tent or outside. These chairs don’t work inside a tent to play cards or read while it is raining. I don’t mind sitting on the ground, plus it has insulation under my bum, these don’t. I’ll keep rocking the old school way.

I loved the original REI Flexlite, which was mesh, before they changed it to solid fabric with slits (which like the Helinox's, make your butt stick out, ugh, and your keys fall out) but this looks mighty fine.
And it's not entirely heavier, since you have the option to leave the anti-sink matt behind. It you add Helinox's matt, the total is competitive.
The adjustability is appealing. When i wear out my Flexlite, or want to give a chair as a gift, there's now a mesh option.
    Thanks!

Funny.. as I have been reading about this "Moonlite Elite" version for months as I've been using the original Moonlite chair for years and absolutely love it!! So just returned from REI (really!) and brought my current Moonlite chair to compare them side by side.... First of all the "Elite" is narrower with a slightly shorter back and the tubing is smaller... leaving my sitting in the "Elite" experience not as confrontable as the regular Moonlite at all!... BTW im 6' 210 Lbs.. Your example of the "Snapped" pole concerns me for longevity vs the regular as the poles are way more robust..... Soooo I'm sticking with what I already have.. to save weight I don't pack the case.. Just my $.02

I tried both at REI myself to see how the elite compared to the original moonlite chair. I have to agree that I prefer the original, but I do like that they made a lighter version for those that prefer something like that. I might have liked the elite better if I was skinnier, but I think for now, I'm willing to stick with a heavier chair since that's more comfortable for me. Plus, I don't feel like it's as likely to break on me.

@@sonorangaming4450 The Zero's Pad also wraps around the chair just like the Nemo to serve as a stuff sack. And yes... it's an extra cost but at least you have the option NOT to get it and save $30 unlike the Nemo. If you do get it, it's the same overall cost. I had high hopes for the Elite chair but after using them both side by side I concluded Helinox has nothing to worry about.

I'm a big fan of the bottom pad. My girlfriend and I the helinox chairs winter backpacking, and they float really well on the snow with the pad attachment. It sure isn't light, though.

.. Looks nice .... recently purchased a Helinox Sunset chair (high back model) ,, on a sale probably because of a strange blue print version for $120.00 ,, added in the ground mat and the rocker bases .... great for car camping but don't think I would take on a trail adventure ,, I have other fold up chairs smaller and lighter ,,but without a back ,,if I feel need for off ground seating .. for maybe on shore at a fishing lake ....

I day hike. I stop then move often. I had a 1lbs. Helinox Zero. But now I carry a 6 lbs $10 beach chair I bought at a grocery store. I miss the light Helinox but my beach chair folds and unfolds in seconds and with no struggle. I'd pay $$ for one a much lighter one that unfolds as easily as my grocery store chair. It being 4' long is not a problem.

I find that it helps a lot in finding a level spot to take off my progressive bifocal glasses. It's better to see blurry than to have everything warped.

This with a high back would be next level good. You can get the zero high back for not much more wieght. Would be keen to see a Comfort comparison between that.

totally agree, we got the cheaper Nemo Moonlite and it's awesome ! The Elite may worth the extra money if used on the beach or for long hikes, being more lightweight. We don't use a chair in those scenarios. I would say the Nemo Moonlite adjustment system is probably a little easier to use the Elite's. I don't know for sure, I didn't have my hands on the Elite

I have the previous generation/version of the Moonlite chair (with the straps not strings) and although a bit heavier, it’s ….soooo much more comfortable than Helinox. Also the NEMO frame won’t crack like your Helinox. & Lifetime Warranty. Sooo….. enjoy!

I had the Nemo Moonlight, not the elite, the regular heavier one that claims a 300lb capacity, and it broke on trail. Those plastic/rubber snaps that hold the seat to the frame was the point of failure. I really liked the chair up to that point. I’m a big guy, 6ft 250lbs. I have a Helinox Zero also which has not failed but it’s pretty small for a big person and I don’t entirely trust it.
I now have the Kilos Gear 2.0 outdoor chair and that thing is a tank. It’s similar in weight to the Nemo Moonlight (regular, not elite) but it’s substantially more solid when you sit in it.

Nemo makes amazing products. The dual purpose wrap case/bottom support is the key to the chair. I carry five chairs in my truck. Two camp chairs, two beach chairs, and a mid weight hiking chair. This chair does it all.

I always liked (and still use) the alite butterfly chair. I like that it only had two legs and you would balance with your feet. Made it like a rocking chair. Too bad they’re not produced any more.
