In this, the first of a new series, join Jorin Lee of Futurasound Productions in an impromptu recording session. Along the way, aside from playing an unplugged version of Side A of 'Diamond Dogs', Jorin explains why he's covered Bowie's seminal album, how it factors into the saga of analyzing and playing the 'never be game over' epic that is MGSV, and how all this fits together as part of Phase III of the FSP channel. Enjoy!

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on September 1, 2015.
The tenth and final main installment of the Metal Gear series, Phantom Pain follows legendary mercenary Big Boss (now known by his codename "Venom Snake") as he awakens in 1984 from a nine-year coma following the destruction of his private military company "Militaires Sans Frontières". With help from his old business partner Kazuhira Miller and rival-turned-ally Revolver Ocelot, Snake must rebuild his mercenary army (now called "Diamond Dogs") while plotting revenge against the shadowy organization "Cipher," as well as its XOF paramilitary unit led by the enigmatic Skull Face.
Similar to its standalone prologue Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Phantom Pain focuses on executing mission objectives in open world environments set in both Soviet-occupied Afghanistan and the Angola-Zaire border region of central Africa, complete with dynamic weather and day-night systems. Stealth is a major component of gameplay, but often optional thanks to Snake's arsenal of combat gear. Players can also upgrade Diamond Dogs' new "Mother Base" in a fashion similar to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, allowing them to develop new weapons and items. In addition to its single-player campaign, the game includes two player-vs-player multiplayer modes, as well as optional microtransactions and other paid downloadable content.
The Phantom Pain is notable as the final game in the series with involvement from series creator Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions team. Several months before the game's release, Konami began a major restructuring of its games division, ultimately leading to Kojima Productions being treated more as a contractor rather than an internal studio. Unlike prior Metal Gear titles from the same team, Kojima Productions' logo and branding is absent from promotional materials and packaging for the final game. After leaving Konami, Kojima would go on to establish a new independent studio with the same name in 2015.
The Phantom Pain was bundled together with Ground Zeroes and all DLC as Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience in late 2016 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Phantom Pain's gameplay and graphics engine were later reused for the 2018 survival-focused spin-off title Metal Gear Survive."

Futurasound Productions is my favourite RUclips Channel.
It’s just some super talented guy making hyper specific videos for his relatively small audience and they’re all just the highest quality content possible for absolutely no reason.
Huge Bowie and Metal Gear fan since the 80s. Thank you dude.
it's heartening to see you express your creativity like this. hearing your justification towards the end makes a lot of sense. i would much rather see you put out content you're proud of and that you want to do than continue with the same content just because it's what you're known for. hearing you break down what's been going on in a non-scripted format not only makes you a much more relatable figure, but gives me much more hope for the channel going forward. seeing uploads slow, i assumed there was a certain amount of burnout. thankfully that's not the case. i've thoroughly enjoyed all of your video essays up to this point, but i'm more than happy to check these kinds of videos out if that's where your passion lies.
until next time, boss.
Honestly mate good to see you’re back and branching out with your content. As a full time working musician myself you’ve always gotta keep pushing yourself creatively. Your channel has been keeping me going over the last year so always look forward to your videos (and lets be honest it’s the best MGS content on RUclips). Also stoked to hear there’ll be more shadow moses cafe! Would love to hear an episode on solidus. Big love from London Uk.
What this guy said
Yup
stumbled across this in my recommendations, and i have been bangin' out my homework with this in the background
thank you for the effort you put in, its absolutely outstanding!
Bro I am so glad you're back shame on youtube I did not get your Video recommended looking forward to the new phase.
Came to your channel a long time ago for the Metal Gear stuff, but stayed cause your content is great!!! Do what you got to do to stay relevant and spread out to other stuff!!!
Holy shit! I can't believe I've never had the thought of how cool this would be. Hit us with the Diamond Dogs Double Album and release it on cassette tapes as well as "iDroid", it practically sells itself from there. So you just kinda dabble in everything it seems. Huge, epic documentaries sweeping through the entire history of a beloved game series in cool, unique ways and now it's time to pull out the music skills. It somewhat reminds me of sports athletes who might play in the NFL for a few years then also play in the MLB, and then go on to be in movies and shit. I really dig the sound, and good on you for making this! It takes serious balls to unveil something totally new like this when people know you for something totally different.
😂😂😂
Genuinely inspired by how talented you are as a writer, I always get new insights from your videos on things I thought I knew everything about already. Always curious about your perspective no matter the focus. Keep it up!!!
You are one of the best channels out here, and my personal favorite about the MGS saga,
said this, you're absolutely right in doing what you feel is the best to do inside of you.
I wish you the best luck, especially in "opening up more" in dialogue with people, because not always people are polite enough in sharing their opinions or having a mature confrontation.
Anyway great work! A pleasure to hear.
If I were able to be a Patreon of someone, you would be on top in the list.
Hope to see "Secrets in The Cutscenes of MGSV" continued as well in the future.
That guitar got played like a damn fiddle. Keep up the amazing work brother
What even happens : I love it
it's awesome to hear you're branching out your content a bit more. i love your longform video essays, but it's also great to see and get to know the person behind the writing, especially in these more isolated times. looking forward to seeing what's next.
p.s. you've got a great singing voice!
We are Diamond Dogs
RIP futurasound productions :( its been 4 months bro I need my metal gear fix
Still come back to this. Good stuff.
Hell yeah man, good to see ya! 🖤🖤🖤
I hadn't heard the first song before but the style was familiar,,, the second song, I've only heard covered elsewhere but I know it to be Bowie XD
Now singing along at 1am in my van lol. Rereading the description... I'll come back when I can get it in the highest quality, my mob. data sucks ... but you are awesome!! Have a good one out there man 🙏
27:00 for anyone who for any reason can’t listen to music and wants to hear the bean talk. Beautiful cover.
Hell Yeah
I am extremely excited about the status update and I look forward to your musical career
i for one will always be here to see what you put out there, Jorin. your channel is an inspiration to me and always sparks conversation between me and my brother. your work means a lot to me, and means a lot to many others!
I'm looking forward to whatever new stuff you want to try with the channel. I was thinking about your Cyberpunk videos recently and wondered if and when we would see more non-Metal Gear work from you. Glad to hear that such content is still on the table.
And has since disappeared
Great to see you back, hope you've been resting well of late, interested to see your new stuff too.
Hope he's doing good. I've appreciated everything he's done so far.
Once i realized what he was playing i was like YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Great to hear from you
I love it. Do your thing, and pass it on to the future.
A few years ago I started performing live and mostly did covers of Nuclear and Not your Kind of People. Now i mostly play originals, but i poured my love of metal gear into writing a song about the wonkiest thing i could think of and putting as many metal gear references in it while still playing a good song. It's got dozens, and tells the tale of a cowboy who was the best gunslinger in the west but didn't want to hurt anybody. His name is Propeller Ocelot
Great work with the tunes man! you're awesome!
Very excited, this is a true artist channel.
This is dope bro, nice work
Love the content man keep it up!
Awesome to see ya
I miss your content.
Interesting cool vibe👍👍
Intertwining your musical tastes and knowledge, be it in analyses, paralels and flat out saying your opinion, is always a very good thing.
Although I presented some criticisms, I did like your analyses on P5's soundtrack. I hope you come back with that kind of content too!
Keep up the great work!
Bravo! Takes courage
You're awesome!
I love this ❤
They call them the diamond dogs
I’m waiting for your return bro
Love it.
Looking for those streamings
I keep coming back, to list to ya cover!. It's really good and some song I like your version better. Like rock and roll with me.
Played like a damn fiddle!!
Would love to see your Diamond Dogs video that was taken down. Perhaps host it elsewhere?
any new videos coming?
Where art thou futurasound !
Hell yeah 😎😎👍👍👍👌🏻
Your voice kind of reminds me of the singer of Rise Against. I love it.
No worries bro
Hope you’re doing ok bud.
Oh my god he has a face!
I loved you in Pocahontas
Will you continuing vids of mgs
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just finished the phantom pain. At the end, Venom Snake receives a tape that says Operation Intrude N... What does this mean?? Venom Snake was the Big Boss in the first Metal Gear game?
Yes
I would recommend playing the original MSX Metal Gear and it’s sequel. (They’re included with mgs3 subsistence/HD version). Obviously they are dated but they still hold up as good games, especially Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. It’s basically does everything mgs1 does but with 8-bit graphics.
@@Dr.Alligator I have already played them!
@@nickst2797 Oh cool! And yeah I guess they retconed it so that you actually kill Venom in the first game and then fight actual Big Boss in the second game
@@Dr.Alligator in a perfect world the first 2 metal gears get remade and all the retcons ironed out. Imagine a game where the climax is a young snake taking on venom, but he thinks he's big boss and has a 'snake, i am your father ' moment. But to be real that's not going to happen. and if it does i imagine konami will mess it up.
How much coke was involved in this recording bro? Lmao you're hyped
hey man I get that it's your channel and all, but, this isn't what was promised. you keep saying 'next phase' of the channel, but, you made no indication this was ever in the plans. i'm not trying to psychoanalyze but the whole thing comes off pretentious. like the bowie talk, and covering that whole album, and all the 'understanding metal gear to the core' bit, and demigods like, what? it feels very detached and big headed. like you're trying to justify the switch dude if you got tired of making video essays just say so, don't just suddenly use the channel as a platform to try and push a music career.
and then honestly, it sounds like you're more concerned with getting views then finishing what you're starting. there's so many projects you've started but never finished. recaps, reviews, your own metal gear review series- like what's going on man? are you good? you're looking and coming off unhinged
Are you still doing metal gear solid content also the video of analyzing quiet video was age restricted
This was awesome!
With the rich content you have given us I feel like I’m my opinion you should be able to do whatever is you like for content and you would still have a pass with me. Thank you for everything Jorin hope everything is well
Keep up the WTF happened those are the best man
I just wish this dude made metal gear content again. I feel like I was lulled into a false sense of security with this channel and then he pulled the rug out from under us. My guy if you want to make music, make a separate channel for your music if you want but dont manipulate the audience you’ve cultivated under false pretenses to maneuver a music career.
It's his channel. He can do with it whatever he wants. Maybe this is a sign that you should start making MGS videos yourself, on your own channel? Be what you want to see and all that.
@@focusfolks or people can voice their valid opinions like I did, it’s misleading especially when it involves a patreon, people fund these videos. They didnt fund his music career they fund metal gear videos. Smart 4zz
@@Hack_The_Planet_ that's a good point actually. I wonder if are people still paying into his patreon even though his content has effectively stopped? (on youtube at least, he could well still be making content on patreon)
you rule
David Bowie sweet
Who are the pAtriots and woof Woof woof woof woof
Keep at it Jorin, don't listen to the naysayers who hate change. It's only natural and healthy to branch off into other territory over time. You'll be fighting the biggest beast of all - the times.
:D
👀
By the way, I was wondering what you looked like...
Hey this is a good idea. Have you thought about having live discussions?
Hey, face reveal? 😃
I think you are talented and I don't mind unscripted or polished content...but the music stuff? It's a pass for me..I'm sure there is an audience but I subscribed for your analysis and views..not to hear music. That's my feedback
So this is what a weapon to surpass metal gear looks like huh
the title confuses me immensely.
Wait so guy gets so established that he even gets David hayter to appear on the channel.. Then he has a mental breakdown and does this instead… Ok…
He went a little bit mad when he realized he didn't hit record on his voice for the interview. That must have been a crushing experience. But honestly I think the commentary he did on the interview in the edit made it one of the most interesting David hayter videos on the internet! Jorin should come back. He has the best video essays on youtube.
First
Nice
Bro I thought you were asian
esta loco o es un chiste
Shhhhhh
Still let down lol this is worst then waiting for Metroid
Bro just stick with the metal gear essays and put your face away please. Last time I checked the Beatles didn't do let's plays
And i think you should just stick to keeping your spicy edge lord comments to yourself, but we can’t always win ey?
Last time I checked, The Beatles didn't read garbage comments.
@@UnintelligibleYT The beetles don't comment on garbage; i do
LoL. Go Home, he's still making essays. I love this shit.
The Beatles made lots of plays BTW, dont be dense.
@@andrewnelson2801 dense is the content creator of this channel if he thinks anyone wants to see him perform music instead of video game analysis.
It's 2022. Can we all admit that Kojima is incoherent, unfocused, a narrative mess. An worryingly, Kojima has shown alignment with globalist, anti-American values. Channels like this try too hard to make Kojima seem more profound and competent than he actually is. Even this channel doesnt know that the hell Kojima is talking about. Yes, focus on your music career instead of trying to make sense of Kojima nonsense.
You imply ‘globalist anti American values’ is bad artistically at least
Metal Gear has anti-american values? woah dude no wayyyyy!
Oh cool a conspiracy theory indulging anti semite just what the world needs more of -_-
