- Taking a look at the best Gas Masks/Respirators/Protective masks from each decade from the 1940s up until the 2000s. This list is obviously based on my personal opinions and yours may vary.
List of masks:
British Light anti-gas respirator MK2, US M9A1 protective mask, British S6 Respirator, Soviet ShMS optical respirator, British Avon S10 Respirator, Swedish Forsheda F2 A4, Avon FM12 respirator.
Some of these masks may technically cross over into different decades.

The S6 has an air bag to provide a better seal if worn for more than 24 hours without shaving. The valve is to equalise air pressure at different altitudes, it is under no circumstances to be used to inflate the airbag. The valve was supposed to be left open if being transported by air to prevent the airbag bursting . I was an NBC instructor from 84 to 2004 when I left

Easily. Kind of the forefather of every modern mask that followed suit. Dare I say, might even beat the S6, though the S6 is so iconic.

Interesting to see the naso-cup and Tissot tube evolution where even the first configuration was pretty good, there are some versions for specific purposes that adapt that or dispense with part of it entirely (mostly the defunct Soviet versions) and we've refined upon good ideas.
I'd love for you to do videos on the cheek filter era even though you probably don't own those, and I'd also love for you to do content on more modern masks like the MSA Millennium.
I did a video recently on re-evaluating my views on cheek filter masks comparing the original pros of the M17 design to where some of the copies got it horribly wrong

I like the Russian / Soviet GP-5 Gas Mask.
Not only because of the Shape and It look's nice.
But because It's an SCP called SCP-1499 and It's Feature's in the Game.
Never heard the namne Forsheda F2 A4 before, Skyddsmask 90 is the name used both for military and civilian use. However, I think most masks still in circulation is the military version, because of the drinking tube (whish is great, btw. The tube connects via a valve at the cap of the standard issue drinking bottle for the Swedish Armed Forces). The mask has been out of production for more than 20 years now, but due to recent increased demand, production will actually start again in a couple of years.
There is a voice diaphragm for the side where you don't put your filter.
I have both the gp-5 (with a replacement filter, of course,) and ukg m941 (that i have dubbed long boi) any suggestions on where to buy a Xm-28?
You should review the Canadian C4 mask. Beautiful piece of kit... and you might actually like the drinking straw!
Any input on M95? i've gre up on it, and its user friendly (being lefty, it limits some of older masks) and is comfortable enough to use it for prolonged time :). that and good 'ol finish m61/yugo M1 :D

After the first month you really wont need a gasmask as all the fallout would have settled and due to the properties of it, it would barely be radioactive
Adencyndez that’s not true at all, it would still be radioactive and fallout would take around 2000 years to settle from a large scale nuclear war

U say the fm12 is the best 2000 mask, but I have an fm12 that’s dated 1996 and has duel filter ports, can help me with this? I am Dutch idk if that helps
The shms or that one sniper gas mask for soviet union that valve got inspired by for the metrocop i think they also got inspired from the with it on without the filter cus its kinda of the same
One other thing about the LAG and the C3 masks is the exhale valve makes you sound like Darth Vader because it's extra loud.
Soviet PMG has a really loud exhale valve.
What do you think about the Mestel SGE 400/3 mask?

Its the improved quality Turkish copy of the S10, and Turkey is still both using and *producing* them as their main CBRN gear.
Its really nice, fits your face really nicely and solves the previous problems of the S6/SR6 and S10 Respirators. Lenses dont fog up, voice diagram is better and its of higher quality generally

Could the Canadian C3 be radioactive or have chemicals on it? I was thinking of going to my local military surplus store to get a C3 as I seen one in a photo on their site and was wondering if it could be dangerous in any way
The only chemical that's sometimes on surplus masks is CS residue, which you can wash off.

I would like to use a gas mask when I play airsoft but I'm scared the lenses won't withstand some of the harder shooting rifles. Any masks with balistic lenses or are they all balistic?
Noise use a GP-5 the lenses are glass so they’ll definitely withstand high powered bb’s. It’s my personal favorite for airsoft
1. What would be the purpose of using two filters at once (on both sides of the mask)
2. Where can I get a new FM12(preferably) or at least buy one with a certainty for having very little usage and proper storage.
1. I did a video on it so watch that.
2. Unless you want to pay Avon hundreds, buy one from a trusted dealer on eBay, you won't get a guaranteed new FM12 unless you buy directly from Avon.

I have a M9A1 mask from Sweden were it’s called skyddsmask m/51 and was wondering were to get filters for it. I am a reenacter and do not intend to use the mask against actual teargas or mustard gas or anything like that. Therefore it doesn’t matter if the filter is empty or not. What I’m basically asking is: where can I get empty filters for the M9A1?
Get finnish M/61 filters or a 60 to 40mm adapter and a 40mm filter

the only problem i see with this video is for S6 you use the correct canister but on the S10 you use the same canister they changed the canister from a hole in the middle were the air goes in to a multi hole system around the edge as the air was being restrickted the air flow id you fell asleep and turned onto your left side.

i would really like to get me one s10 but the shipping makes them like 80-100€ and thats a bit too mutch a real shame the only masks i can get here in serbia are the mc-1 the m-1 and the m-2 :(
M2 is cool though, FM12s in Serbia can be bought cheaply apparently.

Here the S10 is 30€ even thought it wasn't very expensive i took a M-51 that they sell for 10€ and bought a few filter that wer expired but still sealed so perfect for a cheap particulate filter
I have a gasmask at home that my dad took when he served in the gulf war but I have no idea what it is and I can’t find any information on it can I send you a few pictures of it since you have a lot of experience with these things.

You may be able to get an FM12 cheaper in the States, the FM12 was the successor mask to the S10, only option for an S10 really is eBay.

@@swedenisthemotherland3952 I did. I got an FM-12 on eBay but re-sold it about a year later. I think I got quite lucky as I originally got the FM-12 for between $70-80 USD (can't remember the exact amount, it's been about 3-4 years hahah).
After cleaning a gas mask, how would you properly dry a voice diaphragm? I just recently bought a polish Mp5 and I want to properly clean it without the voice diaphragm rusting.
Put some kitchen towels on each side of it, with the mask at an angle, water will fall onto the towels, rotate the mask a bit and repeat and all the water will run out.
