I've used a variety of chemical protective masks in the past 15 years due to my work. The two most commonly used have been the M40 and the Avon C50. Military personnel (especially Chem Corp) will be very familiar with the M40. I did like it, but I always found myself having to look at closer objects by turning my strong eye to it because of the two eye rings. The C50 was a huge improvement for my work and removed that need to cock my head to the side to see what I was doing. I haven't worked with any of the ones you mentioned but would definitely be up for a comparison between the 7 and 8. The 6 reminds me a lot of the SCBA masks we used and I like the fit of them but the forward set of the lense has always made me bang stuff into it. It all comes down to user comfort level with the equipment. What I like and prefer isn't always going to be what Colion likes and prefers, but as long as we can get the job done, that's what counts. Thanks for the great videos and keep up the amazing work you do.

One other thing to look for in any Pro-mask is: Can it fit a prescriptive insert? I wear glasses. I'm legally blind without them. Contacts and Lasik surgeries are not an option due to corneal scarring from debris. The M40 mask I used in the service had a fairly effective insert system that never fogged up and I could see quite well with it. "What does the mask I want to purchase have for optic inserts?" should be a question any purchaser has. Eventually you'll need glasses. Plan ahead.

Mira has a $229 pair a glasses that install in the mask. But I don't plan on using this mask often (maybe ever) If I do need it. Will my prescription be the same? The problem with normal glasses and a mask is that it may not seal properly, which could be a problem. You could get a second cheap pair of glasses and cut back section of frames off. The part that wraps around the ears. I might just use my previous glasses with this, since the script doesn't change that much. I can make do with it should something happen.

Red dots are no problem. Just cant/tilt the rifle towards your eye. Even though you are canting you rifle you will still hit your target at ranges up to 400 meters. Get the mask that fits best. This is an extremely well-made video. All three masks look great. If I had to choose one I think it would be the CM-8M. The CM-7M mask seems like it would limit your field of view, but honestly, the CM-7M makes the wearer look more intimidating. Maybe that's one reason why the Czech army uses it, it has a fear element against its opponent. As for the CM-6M, it looks like it provides the best field of view and it is used in the movie Tenet. But the clip that is used from the Tenet movie in this video was not the CM-6M, that mask was used later in the movie. The gas mask that was shown in this video was the MSA Advantage 1000, another mask that looks cool, especially how it was shown at the beginning of the Tenet movie. My question is if the MSA Advantage 1000 has any problems with it fogging up during use?

I don't even live "in the city" and I have a few MP5s with quite a few FP-3 filters (some are vacuum-sealed for long term storage). They're relatively cheap, but the filter comes out the front, allowing for ambidextrous tactics. Field of view is phenomenal.

@@HanSolo__ Do you keep the cheek filters in all the time or what? I got an M10M for multiple reasons (display mostly, I also have a couple other masks I have for the ready), but I'm not really sure how one would store an M10/MP-4 if you wanted to keep it in your car (like I do with another mask in case of a "peaceful protest" where I'm stuck trapped in my car). I would think jamming in filters wouldn't be practical for defense (totally fine for ambush, you pick when to start as opposed to react), so I wonder if you can pack the filters then vacuum seal bag the whole mask like beef jerky if that would work?

These are insanely overpriced above market value and worth, also rebrands (Mira doesn't actually make any of these, period). There are both significantly better masks at less price, or similarly as nice at 1/8 the cost. I'm not sure why anyone would pick these other than ignorance of other mask options, especially at that really high price tag there are better options, but I'm not saying don't buy a mask, there are just much better masks at the same price.
Also from what I've seen (Demo Ranch vid recently), these particular masks in this vid don't seal worth $hit for most people (it could also be demo ranch is incompetent but most masks have size options, some like these do not and unfortunately "one size fits all" is about like shoes, one size does NOT fit all).

It's scummy. Same for their "CM-8M" which is a renamed OM-2020, made by GuZu in Czech Republic that their army didn't adopt yet.
No such thing as "Pro gas mask" unless you refer to Scott Pro (owned by 3M now) gas masks and filters which are nice ones. It depends on the use and who you are. Getting a gas mask over 100 bucks is getting ripped off unless you're collector looking for specific items.

Be careful there is a lot of Chy-na junk out there. We used 3M full face which was super comfy, had plenty of variety of filters. They're not super cheap being made in USA. The cheap ones on Ebay/Amazon are Chy-na rip offs. The rubber and plastic parts are sub-par material and poor fit. Area around eye shield has lots of spots to leak if you get a crap Chy-na one, plus the visor material is more prone to scratching.
My only issue is trying to sight even if the right filter is off and hole sealed. With an AR I can make it work with high scope mounts and rotating the rifle a bit. So I use a good heavy duty green laser with pressure switch to help.
I live by a main rail line which has all kinds of stuff going by. So being 200 feet from a potential chemical train wreck makes me think about everyday disaster scenarios more than civil disorder, although civil disorder can happen in many places when you least expect it.
3M is not the only quality mask maker but I was very familiar with it from work. There are some excellent ones made in Europe. BUT....one caution....watch out for proprietary filter fittings and a good brand should have more than one type of filter.

Also a little hint, put rain x on the outside of you mask and anti fog on the inside. If you get paint or something else thrown on your face it will literally fall off immediately. It’s NOT about looks when you got to actually use it Colion, you know this !

Good advice, I used Rain X a lot on motorcycle helmets, may vary well have saved my life (rode year round, also seemed to prevent icing). I think on the inside they use some kind of wax or grease (depends on the era of the mask), I think you can also use Vaseline (which also works for sealing beard hair in a mask too if its short). Definitely coat the lenses BEFORE the action when its too late!

CM-7M is a clone of the Check OM90 which is a cheep and effective clone of The Avon S10 and goes for around 50USD Mira are getting unopened stock and re-selling it
The best mask right now is still the FM53/54 due to flexibility and FOV with comms and the whole one mask suits all systems due to the switchable pressure value system.
But what's funny this is the minimum for virus and contaminate protection and yeet press use paper mask with a real one ''just for tear gas'' 😂

Personally, I'm not much of a Mira Safey fan. Sure their masks are quality since they literally are supplying Czech government surplus masks. Though, I much more enjoy what Avon Protection has to offer for masks. Sure you can't really get the masks straight from Avon themselves, but you can easily get them nos or lightly used from third party sources. Not to mention the masks are very comfortable and modern yet simple to maintain/operate. A good example of what I mean by modern yet simple is the C50. These are exactly the same as the US military issue FM50s but with 40mm intakes on it instead. They have a comms port and rotary drinking tube assembly built in and keep complex parts to a minimum. So personally, I much more prefer Avon Protection over Mira when it comes to masks.

I use an Israeli 4A1 (Israeli Civilian) mask, it’s the same as the military version minus the voicemitter for a fraction of the price and is a damn good mask, complete with a very well designed drinking tube and it’s UNIVERSAL FIT for adults so no guess work. My only complaint is that it’s a bit tight around my jaw but not terribly so. My second favorite is actually my old Soviet GP-5, it’s crude but very comfortable (better than the 4A1), and both masks have a good seal (I have tested them with banana oil ampules).
(Note: Some GP-5s can use the Israeli filters and some cannot, it’s luck of the draw, if yours can it’s a good mask, if it can’t than it sucks because then you have to use Russian GOST filters which are unobtainium as non surplus and the surplus ones are unsafe to use)

It probably varies on the length of pull some though or where exactly your sights are.

As czech im proud to see our stuff being used and loved for they quality, it gives me the tiny hope for my even tinier patriotism. Fun Fact : CM stands for "Civilní Maska" when translated "Civil Mask" and like russian stuff, the designation "M" stands for "Modernised". I would like to own one, cuz it's safe (no asbestos, chromium) and actually still useable, but the price is, at least for me, too much. So for as "if I had to buy one", I would go for CM 4. You can use GOST and even NATO filters (Some sources claim that, but someone factczech me). There is hidden tresure called MOF-1/4 filters, which shouldn't contain asbestos (as the maker "Sigma" says), but I would only trust MOF-3 and MOF-4, as after 1975, ČSSR army stoped using asbestos in filters. • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 3 года назад

Do make sure to do that research and not get one of these.
These are insanely overpriced above market value and worth, these are also rebrands. There are both significantly better masks at less price, or similarly as nice at 1/8 the cost. One budget example people like are $40 Israeli gas masks (a country where they might actually get gassed a few times, so they need those to work), but that might not be my first pick.
From what I've seen (Demo Ranch vid recently), these particular masks in this vid don't seal worth $hit for most people (it could also be demo ranch is incompetent but most masks have size options, some like these do not and unfortunately "one size fits all" is about like shoes, one size does NOT fit all).
If you just want a starting suggestion some channels like Weaponsandstuff93 cover the basics of masks and what to look for like Tissot tube defoggers, and he covers everything from $25 mask options like the very basic MC-1 I keep in my car (or for not much more my soviet masks which I would still pick over the ones in the vid but that's a low standard), or something nice like his favorite for example is the Avon S10 which is about half the price and which these are sometimes considered clones of but still inferior to.
Make sure whatever you get that it fits well, thankfully with most other masks they have size charts (measure like chin strap, then around forehead, very easy). If you do pick something like a Warsaw pact masks (they work and they look really cool) make sure to get modern Russian filters for them since the originals contained asbestos (a lot of masks like one of mine was a $40 soviet mask and came with a modern style filter but you might want several filters), though I recommend getting NATO nation masks because the filters are easier to find (40mm NATA vs 40mm GOST, they do sell adaptors but I don't suggest using adaptors) for all your NBC needs (Nuclear/Biological/Chemical, that's the standard filter most quality masks come with, and yes there is nothing wrong with a $25 mask as long as it seals well and has Tissot tubes that's all you really need. Like I said I keep one of those in my car because its extremely fast to put on and works). Anyways, good luck, I don't sell masks or anything I just hate seeing people get ripped-off. Cheers!

It can accept GOST threaded filters and many NATO filters as well, due to a rubberized coating on the threads inside the mask, helping for a better seal. Its got a voice diaphragm, and forward facing, flat eye glass for better vision. Works great when shouldering a rifle. You did an outstanding job on this video!
Right after I ordered my Mira CM - 7M mask, I found your video. I've watched your videos before but didn't see this one.
So as I watched, I got a bit nervous and concerned. I was thinking maybe the mask that I've chosen may have not been the right style. But then you revealed your choice of mask and why you chose that style. I have chosen the same one also. Lucky me. I too like the style. However, I don't own any firearms.
Great presentation on this video. 👏
All your videos are awesome! Thank you for making great content. 👍

I used a OBA in the Navy, but I can't remember what I used in the National Guard! I do still have my card for that mask, where I was fitted for it. I'll have to look back and see. Thanks again!

I like when he says he prefers the 7M over the 8M strictly because it looks cooler.

These are a huge ripoff (that was a sponsored commercial, and those are about double what they should be).
You can get decent budget options like a lot of people like the $40 Israeli masks, not the best for rifle shooting but not a terrible pick especially at that price and you can find that price lots of places so pick your favorite. Or for still less than these you can grab an Avon S10 which these are sometimes considered clones of the style but still inferior to so I wouldn't call them clones.
Make sure whatever you get that it fits well, thankfully with most other masks they have size charts (measure like chin strap, then around forehead, very easy). If you do pick something like an old Warsaw pact mask (they work and they look really cool but I don't recommend them for most people because filter is GOST thread) make sure to get modern Russian filters for them since the originals contained asbestos (a lot of masks like one of mine was a $40 soviet mask and came with a modern style filter but you might want several spare filters), but I recommend getting NATO nation masks because the filters are easier to find (40mm NATO vs 40mm GOST, they do sell adaptors but I don't suggest using adaptors) for all your NBC needs (Nuclear/Biological/Chemical, that's the standard filter most quality masks come with). If you can't afford $40 there is nothing wrong with that or a $25 mask as long as it seals well and has Tissot tubes (they defog the lese) that's all you really need with modern filters. Like I said I keep one of those in my car because its extremely fast to put on and works. Anyways, good luck, I don't sell masks or anything I just hate seeing people get ripped-off. Cheers!

Colin, have you seen the FIREHAWK M7 ULTR ELITE by MSA ?.
If you take the two screws out that hold the front grill and safety strap, you can unscrew the nut that holds the front grill which exposes the 40 MM thread. Then just put the grill back on and secure with the strap and the two Phillips screws.
MSA also makes an adapter for two filters.
The lens is teardrops at the bottom for better viz.
These are what the fire fighters use.

PTSD of 12 hours of wearing chem gear. A red dot is almost a must have while shooting with a gas mask on. I don't own one, but probably should. Kind of like War Poets channel doing a review on vests, I don't own one,but probably should. Great video as always.

Colion Noir has that influential swing thing going on. He didn't even need to give himself a plug. He reviewed their mask and they called him and said "Please take our free stuff and plug our product. Sir!"
For the first time in Colion's life, he said
    "I will comply."

Have you considered the Avon C50 (single flexible face shield)?
    True CBRN rated
    40mm x 1/7 NATO standard threading.
Filter is ambidextrous mount (either side of mask)
Has a drink straw/adapter as standard.
    Is helmet compatible.
Has extra yellow, gray, and clear protective lens options.
This is my go to mask.

I have an FM12 gasmask, and it is the comfiest mask Ive worn, with pretty decent visibility and the ability to look down the sights of my gun. Plus its just a sexy looking mask.
