I just got my black 2020 Wilshire today. You,could not be more wrong about the guitar and it’s sound/tone. This guitar blew me away. I set the action adjusted the pickup height and it was fantastic. The pickups are perfect. How could you say this sounds bad? You should check to see if yours is damaged. I literally had to,a,double take when I plugged this in. It’s so,good it does it makes.

I wonder if you got a dud the pots should be be CTS. Epiphone pro p90 have critical acclaim. So I'm quite surprised by this.

To me sounds pretty good, I am sure that with a pair of Lollars it's going to sound better than some Gibsons, great review, mate

Thanks for pointing out the volume pot issue. The aficionados always leave it on 10. I prefer a graduated volume pot. That means redoing the pots. Somehow the cheaper Coronet with one dogeared p90 sounds better to me.

that looks nice. I've been looking for a 24\24.75 thats lighter than a les paul but feels contoured/curvy as a strat and has the input in front :)

Great review - its good to be honest - I bought an Ep 335 and the playability of the guitar was fantastic but the sound had no tonal color - I put in some new pickups and the guitar sounds great now!

Just bought one today. It needed a setup, and mine came with no truss rod allen key ? Personally I had no issues at all with the pots and pickups, in fact they all worked, functioned, and sounded great to me, I have another guitar with Lollars and these pickups did not fall short to me ? The bridge pickup is mounted quite distanced from the tune-o-matic bridge, maybe loose some top end ? I always fancied a Les Paul junior/ special DC and for the price this is a fantastic alternative IMO. To me it looks like the pickup is mounted closer to the bridge on P90 versions with wrap around stop tails but to my knowledge you cannot fit a tremolo easily to these versions ? Horses for courses, but personally I am very happy with this guitar.

CTS pots in these. Did you try adjusting the puck heights? Maybe lower them a couple turns and if they get more note definition. It does sound muddy as is. Strange because Jack from Peach made his sound amazing.

I agree with the comments that it must be that particular guitar that’ sounds bad as I have played all 3, The coronet, Wilshire and Crestwood at length and all sounded great I took the coronet and it sound much clearer then this one in the video, be interesting to know if this one was faulty or a little off somewhere in the electronics

Hello, I came to see opinions about this guitar, and those P90 with CTS potentiometers on all my amps sound very good... They are not Lollar, but I love their Vintage sound... Well, it's just my opinion. What I like the most about this guitar are two things: the comfortable design, the lightness, and the versatility... and the unique sound that I love and had not heard in other guitars... Greetings and thanks

I love your rare honest review!!! I love the look of these guitars. I played three coronet at guitar center and it actually didn't sound bad but the setup was odd... action way too high.

Sounds like the tone is stuck in low range. Maybe some bad pots???

I bought one of these and I rather like the sound. Especially the neck pickup with the tone rolled back all the way. Maybe you got a faulty one?

Hello, I'm searching for my first P90 guitar and this wilshire looks really great.I see has similar strap connection near the neck with the SG, and I was wonder if it soffer dive neck the same as SG. Thanks to everyone will give a feedback...

Check your pickup height might be too close to the strings. I have had P90s before and that was the case, they could be very hot P90s. Before swapping out

Gotta say before I heard you speak I was thinking exactly the same thing about the sound, and I love a lot of cheap guitars.

I am really surprised you say the sound is poor. The pickups are the PRO P90s and it has CTS pots. I have the same P90 pickups in a different Epi model(a 56 Goldtop) and the sound is virtually identical to the P90s in my Gibson Les Paul Junior.
