    The Paleo Diet can be a great option for people struggling to improve their health and lose some unwanted fat. With Paleo you CAN eat foods like: fish & seafood, roots, leafy and salad vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, eggs, grass fed beef & poultry and healthy oils.
    It's loaded with stuff you already like while cutting out the artificial and overly processed foods typically in our diet....that would include most breads, crackers, chips, sweets, cold & hot cereals and so on.
    Nurse Practitioner and Weight Loss Expert Carissa Alinat visited Critical Bench to speak with Coach Chris Wilson and she shared her own personal experience with the paleo diet that has helped her maintain her current weight for years now after losing 70 lbs.
    If your goal is to lose some unwanted fat and get healthier by cutting out processed foods, the PALEO DIET is for you. Unlike many other diet programs that seem temporary or have a bunch of shakes and bars to get you by, the paleo diet is a long term solution because it is sustainable.
    Real whole foods that taste good while minimizing how much "junk" food is in your diet. Basically it's about removal of processed and artificial foods and getting back to eating like it's a few hundred or few thousand years ago.
    Sure, temporary diets help with 10-20 lb weight loss goals but then you go back to eating like you once did, gain all of the weight back and the cycle repeats itself. To optimize your health and really get into the best shape of your life, your best bet is to eat paleo 80-90% of the time, have your cheat meals (or cheat days every 7 days) and stick to the paleo guidelines for the rest of your life.
    Consistency with that will absolutely lead to improved health, increased energy levels and weight loss. Thank you so much for watching the CriticalBench RUclips channel. We really appreciate your support. Leave us some comments or questions, we WILL get back to you!

    This is why I like Paleo more than keto while it’s true I have never actually tried keto the reason I haven’t is because it is literally so specific on what you can and can’t eat when both the diets are supposedly great for you but there’s more evidence that keto can do some long-term damage to your body and it is way too specific for me when with Paleo you can just be like oh should I eat this oh yeah sure a caveman could have access to this down the hatch it goes

  • @tfoprincess

    Paleo is easy but also expensive.
    You also have to keep going back to the grocery store for fresh items. There are hacks (freezing stuff) but yet, there is still the problem of cost for most people. Rice and pasta are cheaper than it would be to keep buying lettuce.

    • @tekknorat
      @tekknorat 3 года назад +3

      Unless you have the possibility to grow your own food, greens n such, but unfortunately, if you have to buy everything, yes, then eating healthy is way more expensive, yet again, it will save trouble with health in the long term. Now, essentially, it boils down to affordability. Unfortunately, we don't have that thing sorted out. People with low income have no choice but to eat unhealthy food.

    • @tfoprincess
      @tfoprincess 3 года назад +2

      @@tekknorat well said. Some people in the caribbean can grow their own foods but not many people want to or have the time to do so. I'm not talking about a doctor who could either pay a farmer of she could just go buy the groceries. I mean people who have to work 3 minimum wage jobs.

    • @jennygibbons1258

      My experience of being chronically unwell is very expensive too. If I hadn’t drastically changed my way of eating I’d be long gone by now. Life is precious and I choose to not shorten it with processed junk. The cheapest cuts are tastiest - especially slow cooker meat. Also, eggs, cheapest bacon bits and off-cut scraps, chicken and chicken liver, cheapest fish from markets not stores - even fish heads are nutritious and delicious in soups and still have lots of meat. If you just think back to your grandmas way of using cheap proteins like slow cooked or crispy stir-fry fatback with vegetables and spices - cheap and delicious. BTW I’ve lost 42lbs, reversed diabetes and am able to walk short distances and swim again can’t put a price on that 👍🏾🙏🏽

    Its not really a diet. Its just how your supposed to eat. Meat,fruits,vegetables,nuts,and berries. I think common sense would tell ya that you don't need all the sugary breads and pastas. Eating like a cave man is pretty dead on. They didn't sit around eating pop tarts and cinnamon toast crunch for breakfast or hot pockets for dinner. Eat real food not out of a box. There's no sense in hating on it like its a fad diet. Eating real food is not a new trend or a fad it's just that most people don't do it anymore.

    • @jeremymetcalf2502

      I agree. Most meat was cooked over open fire. Same thing goes for chocolate and coffee. Butter wasn't available either, as cows weren't herded. People include these things to attract crybaby people can't control their cravings. I'm tired of seeing recipes of donuts, cakes, and breads that are "paleo". Also, a long time ago tomatoes were thought to be poisonous. There goes your "paleo" ketchup idea. Corns not naturally edible due to needing chemicals to break down the grain to extract the nutrients, this excludes a lot of spanish cooking.
      All of the questionable ingredients (including coconut milk), are civilized inventions. To truly be paleo our diets would consist of fruit, leafy vegetables, and meat. Possibly some nuts, due to humans observing what animals are eating. If you throw religion into it, Adam and Eve already knew what they could eat. They were also farmers, which meant cultivation, and using animals to aid in farming eventually was included to make it easier. After the flood Noah was permitted to eat meat. So there you go. A diet consisting of agricultural foods, and meat. This would also include dairy.
      When you look at it religiously, the paleo diet is null in void. If you remove religion, it drastically narrows down our scope of allowed foods. Just my thoughts.

    • @FirstHomeAgain
      @FirstHomeAgain 5 лет назад +2

      Britt Powers Paleo isn't about strictly replicating caveman diets. It's about looking to human evolution to decipher what is best food for us to eat now, something neither vegans nor the mainstream do and much to their disadvantage.

      Keto is a high fat, moderate protein, super low carb diet. Paleo doesn’t necessarily have macros that are set. A paleo diet typically includes lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Keto is harder to maintain, but has many health benefits. I recommend you try paleo before deciding on keto.

    • @Criticalbench
      @Criticalbench  6 лет назад +1

      My initial response is yes BUT I highly recommend consulting with someone like Carissa at a clinic that addresses nutrition based issues like diabetes. Since I don't intimately know your particular needs, it's hard to give sound advice but regulating blood sugar levels is essential for all people, especially those pre-diabetic or diabetic. Many of us fail ourselves with our diets due to an abundance of consuming overly processed and artificial foods that mess with our levels and hormones. Eating Paleo certainly helps to correct that but there still may be other nutritional needs. Seek in-person professional advice.

    I'm not arguing when I pose this question. Who says that what cavemen ate is the perfect diet for modern people? I know that most of what is sold in grocery stores is processed and not really fit for human consumption, but, prehistoric humans ate only what they could forage and hunt. BTW ... I could do this diet.

    Great advice! I really like the paleo diet. In the last year, I've made some big changes to my diet.
    The biggest reason why I succeeded is because I use quality paleo diet cookbooks.
    Recently I came across a paleo diet cookbook that offers 125 paleo recipes complete with daily paleo diet meal plans and snack ideas.
    It also gives you paleo diet shopping lists and helpful advice on how to stick with your new diet plan when eating out at restaurants.
    The recipes are terrific and you'll be able to easily adapt to the plan. I highly recommend it.

    “If a modern heart doctor could give medical advice to the iceman Ötzi - the man who was preserved as a mummy after his murder about 5,300 years ago in the snowy Alps - it would be this: Stop eating so much fatty meat and consider taking medications that lower your blood pressure and cholesterol. [Or eat a WFPB diet!]
    This advice is based on a new comprehensive look at the iceman mummy's cardiovascular health. A full-body computed tomography (CT) scan showed that Ötzi had three calcifications (hardened plaques) in his heart region, putting him at increased risk for a heart attack. “

    This is just a troll/joke. (Warning to save you time.)
    Diets for people first learning to eat, who also live in the paleolithic period... AKA Paleo Diet for beginner's ... I got this... Moms breast milk, mealworms, grubs, nightcrawlers, wood lice, ants, grasshoppers, cicadas, dad's pre-chewed tubers (think potatoes and carrots but way different) cooked in mammoth fat in a sea shell, and maybe some honey, wax, and bee larvae ... if I'm lucky... oh and water and dirt and turtle blood and shell fish... chives, some seeds and grains, prickly pear, goat's-gruff (a type of desert moss), an avocado (that's singular as in someone might get to eat one in their entire childhood, and avocados in the paleo period were mostly seed and skin and barely a thin layer of meat), and peat moss... yeah that's probably the types of things you'd see in the diet of the paleo people that would be conducive to give people who are beginner's at eating aka children... I chose the time period and location as the Paleolithic period isn't clearly defined with a begining and ending date... and it could cover a time when we looked more like apes than humans... I chose the early stone age cuz that's what most people think of, and I chose prehistoric edible flora and fauna from North America even though people had not populated the continent yet as the Bering Strait was not discovered yet, so this is basically what I think cave Americans would have eaten if there was such a thing... but there wasn't... you'll notice cactus fruit and seafood ... yes this represents one person's diet... remember we where nomads... I'm imagining a California tribe that goes from southern Baja Mexico to Oregon U.S. maybe as far north as BC Canada... also to go along with the gag I chose soft palatable foods that would be easier for children to eat... because I'm intentionally misinterpreting 'beginner' to refer to beginner at eating... well only children are new to eating so... anyway I got my laugh typing this up, now to press send and see who else has my taste in humor.

      Voegtlin had some ideas and understandings I could work with... Dr. Cordain on the other hand was an idiot. But I wasn't pushing my opinion because *IT WAS A JOKE* !
