  • @mimikyu4640
    @mimikyu4640 6 лет назад +148

    a definite anxiety inducer for me is conscious procrastination. Like, you procrastinate and you KNOW you can do the work but decide not to. I also call it "next level laziness"

    • @KindlingKatalyst

    Listening to happy music when you are sad can be worse than listening to sad music. The contrast between your emotions and the stimuli can be jarring and may cause the mind to reject the happiness as fake and alienating. You need to take advantage of emotional contagion and listen to music that nearly matches your current emotional state and then gradually improves.

    • @OffTheWagons
      @OffTheWagons 6 лет назад +12

      T Vanna23 That is very smart. I did the same with my crippling anxiety, and it truly does help. Just putting yourself in these situations over and over again until your brain learns to cope.
      You are doing the right things!!
      Edit; I still have anxiety but it is not as nearly as bad as it was back then. I had a lot of death around me, and that triggered a lot of stuff once again. But, I am very glad you brought that up bc it is what I did and it really, really helped a lot. It did take some time, but I am extremely thankful for it. 💗💗💗 Keep going

    I have some advice, too. I hope this will help you:
    • Time management. Make a planner with important and necessary things. Write notifications on your phone so you'll get them on time if you forget about them.
    • Doing something. Yes, when I'm anxious about something (test, presentation etc) I go and prepare everything I will need for that thing. Work makes me think about work 😅
    • Hobbies. I. Love. DRAWING! I draw every day and it helps me a lot to deal with stress. Find your own hobby and do it when you're anxious :>
    I really hope this will help and sorry for bad english 😅
    Have a great day!

    I’ve been stuck on my phone and computer, being less social, and have been listening to moody music that’s been making me so anxious over the years.
    But now that I’ve watched this video, I think it’s time that I’d go back into the outside world!

  • @WillayG
    @WillayG 6 лет назад +22

    Maybe it's related to the social media but obsessive news watching / reading causes me no end of anxiety. I'm diagnosed OCD, and news watching happens to be my compulsion but I suspect I'm not alone in this.

    • @OffTheWagons
      @OffTheWagons 6 лет назад +1

      William Gaule Ahhhhh!!!! I feel you!! I do same, have had therapists tell me to stop several times. It is a compulsion, and I sometimes feel anxious if I'm not scrolling through and listening to something (generally news or true crime stuff).
      One thing that is interesting, a lot of people with these same issues don't have enough of a certain hormone(I can't remember, maybe adrenaline), and so we search for things to fill that void.

    • @aiquesono
      @aiquesono 6 лет назад +1

      I don't watch the news, I have no idea of whats happening in the world right now lol, except for what happens at home or at work and I don't f care about the news, some people say it's good to stay informed and blah blah blah,but c'mon 98% of what the media shows is useless and biased, so why bother. for my own sanity, I'd rather not watch/read it. I come from a country where the crime rate is high, so if I watch the news I won't leave my room (I already don't lol)

    • @WillayG
      @WillayG 6 лет назад

      Mahatma Kane Jeeves Yep. That's exactly how I feel. It doesn't help that I'm a South Korean resident during times of threats of nuclear war. That's all calming down now but my anxiety remains.
      I think the hormone you're referring to is serotonin. I get migraines, too, which have links to serotonin deficiencies. I think people with anxiety actually produce too much adrenaline and causes us to be in a constant fight or flight state. I could be wrong on this so please let me know if I am.
      Anyway, it's good to know I'm not the only one.

    • @WillayG
      @WillayG 6 лет назад

      rnk. I'd like to live my life a bit more like you. It sounds like you're just doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done. OCD habits are really hard to break though. This video has been the answer to my prayers, I've been feeling like this for months and it's because of sleep deprivation and some if not most of these guilty pleasure habits. Only recently I started go to bed an hour or two earlier for work at 6:30am and I avoid caffeine in the mornings just warm milk or water. As well as avoiding sad music and keeping busy with tasks and focusing on my life and social life, financial goals, career goals and many other aspects of myself. With a healthy routine and diet and exercise and balancing work, family etc.
    Over a day or two I felt the difference so quickly in my mood, thoughts, emotions, and I felt so energized and no longer irritable I took a complete 180. Hope this helps someone out there with this issue especially introverts like myself :)

    What do you do if you are so anxious you cant eat, and when you do you're even more anxious? I become upset with myself when I do and it tends to cause panic attacks. I don't know what to do.

    It's all about finding a balance. Too much lying brings me anxiety but also too much doing things and not letting myself rest brings me anxiety too. The same is with isolating and too much socializing. Anxiety is there not to make your life miserable, but to remind you that you have to change something. And if you refuse, you'll stay stuck.

    Could you make a video about careers in the mental health field? I’m a high school student and I’ve been researching some of them because I know for sure I want to go into this field. If you gave a general list of careers such as types of councilors, psychologists, or social workers, and gave a description of them and maybe a general scope of what they do, that would help tremendously. I always look forward to your videos, I can’t thank you guys enough for making them. Keep up the good work!!❤️

    I tend to go bush walking or write down everything that's on my mind into a journal. Writing often helps me find a solution to a problem and just writing it down makes me feel like I manage to let my feelings out.

    For me it really helps doing some excercise, usually is just a walk every other day, when i stop doing it, it makes more difficult for me going out when i need to. And also getting away from social media at least 1 hour and do anything else, i usually do this when i am too stressed but it really helps, and my last tip is DON'T MULTITASK, i realized that actually doesn't make me save time as i thought or the time i saved was just a little and i got a huge amount of anxiety (at least for me), just take your time, concentrate and enjoy anything you do. :)

    I find listing to music that expresses what i think it feels like to have anxiety helps me work out any built up anxiety. Though I am usually jamming out and singing a long so that could be part of it. Happy music just doesn't give me the same release.

    sooo today i only slept like 5 hours, stayed up all day lying on the couch scrolling through social media and i skipped lunch and whenever i go home from school i drink iced coffee and I also don't have friends so I get used to be always alone and I keep repeating the same mellow songs which is probably the reason why i cry every night bc it reminds me of the stupidity i usually make.
    ooooooh I wonder why i'm anxious....?
