  • Tasmanian cray, how to get the poo shooter out of the tail.
    I have had a comment noting that this is a lobster, I agree. It is hard for me to change after calling them crayfish since I was a small child. It is similar to Abalone which we called Mutton fish for years.

      We used to call them crayfish back in 1960. When it changed for marketing purposes many Tasmanians continued to call them crayfish.

    It would be much more effective using secateurs, especially with crays that are before sheading. For over 40 years of diving & catching my own; I have more than likely eaten more crayfish that most people have seen in their entire lifetimes.

    • @e-surf
      @e-surf  Год назад +1

      Well done, a bit short though, been diving catching and eating for over 60 years now. probably thrown more back than you have seen. Potting for crays in the 1950S and 60S was ridiculous, couldn't get any more in the pot. Jockies falling off as the pots came up because they couldn't get in. Sorry mate couldn't resist.

    An’t you a support to clean the poop line before you cook it? Because all you’re doing is cooking the poop line and as you said; it’s poison too eat it, so it’s better too cook the poop line instead of taken it out of the gray fish?

    • @e-surf
      @e-surf  3 года назад

      You may be right there but after many years of consumption and no poisonings the evidence does not support your assumptions. It seems that the quick boiling process seals the outside poop tube preventing contamination. I will keep your observation in mind though. I am all about trying to maintain the highest quality seafood. Thanks.

      It is now called a lobster commercially but in Tasmania we have always called them crayfish, this lobster name changed in 1970's but most local cray-fishermen still call them crays as do I. They are caught in cray pots.
