Fatima, never change. You are unique and what I love is that you keep it real. Nothing beats the memories of one's childhood with one's mom in the kitchen. You've made a wonderful Crayfish (shell on) Curry. ❤️
Hi Fatima, I loved your story today of where you grew up. I could relate because I also grew up there. I could hear that trumpet blowing as you were talking. My cooking skills have improved since following your recipes. Many thanks for keeping it real!! ❤
Wow Thank you for a great recipe. Y husband is a seasonal crayfish diver and I have still a few crayfish in nt freezer. Gonna definitely make this recipe. Can you explain how you clean your crayfish before you cooking it. Please advise thank you Fatima🥰
Best part about this video is the Special Stories told to us of when Fatima remembers everything as a kid and what her Mom shared with her ❤️ Thank you so much for sharing this
Fatima, I just love watching you cook. You cook exactly like my late mom taught me. So for me it's very nostalgic to watch your videos. Oh, and every township had their fish carts or bakkies on certain days. In my childhood days it was a horse and cart. They had their little sing-song rhymes when calling out to the people to come and buy fish and kreef doppe tot Vrydag toe. I grew up in Bonteheuwel in the 1960's. Got married 1977.
Love this one. I remember that " gooi ń skootjie water". I too was very young when my training started. My late mum used to chat on the phone with her mum or one of her sisters. She would give instructions on the next step while on the phone. I had to learn to get that "feeling" when to stir, add water or add ingredients because conversation on the phone would get intense and I dared not interrupt. I love cooking and am so grateful for those telephone cooking lessons. Today, I cook to feel close to her.

Fatima love you to bits. You so passionate and sincere. You have me cooking childhood dishes and just as you mentioned all linked to beautiful stories. Stay authentic.
I am from Joburg, and when I got married my husband got a job in Durban, so I am very far from my family and my husband's family, so when u tell these beautiful stories I feel like I am a child back home. 💕💕💕
Hi my Favorite lady, love you to bits😍. Kreefdop curry is on my menu today. My dad was a fishernan at tge coast in SA. Settled in Namibia now. Thanks for bringing back lots of memories. We never paid for the doppe. Lived with my Granny in District 6. Love you and yr sister, joking. Lookie, lookie etc🤣
Roy was our man for the "krief doppe" in Walmer estate. He use to come with his horse and cart stacked with the "doppe" Krief Kerrie like you make it is the way my mother made it. Haven't had it in years as it is not available here in Pretoria for obvious reasons.
I'm back in CapeTown after 24yrs in Pretoria. I passed a bakkie selling "kreef doppe" the other day and was absolutely compelled to stop and buy. I remember before I went to PTA(1996) I paid R0.20c each. Nearly died when the hawker told me its R5.00 each. Bought 10 because I just had to have some! 😉😊
My dad used to buy whole crayfish cooked in sea water in an old paraffin tin on the beach at Kommetjie. He was a keen fisherman, so we spent many days there. Local men caught the crayfish in the kelp off the beach.
Assalaamu 'alaykum Fatimah. I've been given the link your "no knead bread", gone through the whole procedure and it looks good, while raising. Then I looked for Cape Malay Crayfish Curry and here I'm back again by your blog. Maashaa ALLAAH, I love your presentation.
