      I have diagnosed the issue where by it seems the gap between where the insole ends meets the upper there is a gap and that gap pinches on the side of my foot underneath on the medial side
      I have an outline of it across the side of my foot
      Is there any workable way to get it to stop doing thst?
      I tried wrapping memory foam insole around the side of my foot inside my sock to create cushion but the ridge between the insole and upper gap still pinches through the cushion memory foam.
      It is baffling
      Are there any tricks i could try?
      As mentioned it isnt viable for me to just return it and go half a size up i can only get the wides in america or asia so if i go half a size up next time the problem may still be there.
      You would think the memory foam on the sides inside my sock would do the trick? But it doesnt as that ridge between insole and upper pinches greatly im literally spilling over the sides of the shoe
      Would a custom extremely wide insole which goes up the walls of the upper may work if it is sturdy enough on the other side so the ridge cant pinch through the insole?

    Received these late today and hit for about 30 minutes with them on before it got dark. I was shocked how comfy they were out of the box. My only beef so far are the cheap and short laces they come with. I immediately replaced them with bubble laces

    After watching your review of the 8's, I bought two pairs. It's a great shoe, and its durability is second to none. I used to play with Nike's and bought a pair every three months or so. Being a speed moving player, they used to break down after a few sessions. A year ago and after the GP turbo's were discontinued for men (why the heck someone at Nike thought it's a good idea, I will never understand), I decided to switch to Asics, playing 3 times a week, both pairs are still in great condition. Thank you!
    Was thinking on adding another pair to my rotation, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like the 9's are much of an upgrade imo.
    Coming from basketball, I have a tendency to like these b-ball inspired shoes like the GP's and the new NB Coco's. Finding similar comfort to the GP's is now a quest of mine😆. I also would love to admit that I like the 8's design a bit more than the 9's. Keep up the good work! 🤘

    Kudos to you Zach. This is one of the best most complete and exhaustive reviews I've seen as you literally take the shoe apart. I have not seen that anywhere else.
    I currently have the 8s and wear orthotics as I have flat feet. In the hard court version I'm a 11.5 US size and in the clay version I'm a 12 US size.
    Despite your rave review on this shoe I'm still unsure about moving to the 9s. This is because I have heard several people on tennis talk complain about feeling pain in the sides of their feet after a few hours of play due to the Dynawall enhancement that apparently makes the shoe feel a bit narrower on the sides. I used to have that feeling with the old Nike Air Cage (Nadal's shoe) so don't want to go down that route again. Also the worst thing is I can't really try them and then turn them back after a few hours of play because the sides of my feet are sore (if you see what I mean).
    This being the case I heard that Adics have brought out a wide version. Given what I've described above I have two questions:
    1. Should I go for the wide version in both hard court and clay?
    2. Should I opt for the same sizes I'm currently wearing in the 8s?
    Many thanks in advance for your advice and tips.
    PS. I'm the equivalent of a 5.0+ player in Europe but at 45 I'm beginning to become more particular about comfort especially on hard courts.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  Год назад

      If you are comfortable in the 8 even with an insert then I would think the 9 would be better- I haven’t tried the clay version but I’ve never changed sizes between them in the past - it’s still a resolution so I usually stick with sizing until it dosent work for me anymore but I couldn’t say for sure without looking at your foot

    • @tennisfit402
      @tennisfit402 Год назад

      @Foot Doctor Zach Thanks Zach for your instant reply. Really appreciate it. Given my current differentiated size set up with the 8s that works very well would you recommend I do the same thing with the 9s?
      Also should I try the wide version of the 9s or the regular version?

    • @tennisfit402
      @tennisfit402 Год назад

      I have flat feet and wear custom inserts and have been using the 8s for the last year or so (11.5 in the HARD version and 12 in the CLAY version) and they've held up pretty well so far. I could stretch them another year but I'm looking to switch to the 9s. Tennis Warehouse recommended I go up half a size in both versions due to the dynawall foam occupying more of the sides of the shoe and up into the heel area. Also as I'm in Europe can only really choose the standard width (note: even if the Wide version does arrive I heard it will only ever be available for the HARD outsole model).
      With the reviews I've seen I'm also considering the FF3's but I am firmly leaning towards the 9s because the stability seems to be better (the outsole surface has a wider contact area than the FF3) and this is paramount for me because I'm a tall lean player with previous ankle injuries so I need a shoe that feels very stable. I'm the equivalent of a 5.0 + player (45 year old male player) training once a week with semi pro juniors and the rest of the time with very good club players. I play on average 3x per week.
      I haven't tried either shoe yet but would you agree on my thoughts regarding stability between the two shoes?

    I have been using Gel Resolution since 2005 until present. The only disappointed was Gel Resolution 8 when Asics sent me warranty- replacement and I did not use until last year-2022. They are not comfortable like previous Gel Resolution. The size is longer, not fit comfortable, that was why I am holding off purchase the Gel Resolution 8. Now seeing Zack did the test and rating, I am ordering Gel Resolution 9.
    My doctor did recommend after I have initial meeting for my neuroma in 2008. I told my doctor I have been wearing Asics since 2005, etc.
    Every three months Asics sent me a new replacement warranty. I purchased a pair but got second pair from warranty within three months- paid $9.00 shipping the wear out to Asics and got the new pair within 10 days. Great products from great company.
    Thank you- Jack for the review.

    After using Nike Air Zoom GP Turbo for 2 years, I had to look for alternate shoes as Nike discontinued this model.
    I bought Gel Resolution 9 2022 model 2 months back. After playing for 2 to 5 hours per day, I feel there is sufficient heel and ankle support.
    But started getting toe pain and feels like I am running on bare toes.

      Just out of interest what level do you play at? I'm considering switching to the 9s(I'm currently using the 8s) because in my humble opinion it's the best shoe for stability. I had ankle issues in the past, went to the barricades till the 5th version then switched to Asics GR series and never looked back. If Monfils endorses them who was so prone to ankle injuries then that says a lot. I'm the European equivalent of a 5.0+ player (45 years old male player who wants a stable and comfy shoe and the 8s have not dissapointed).

    What has happened to Asics? I use to be able to play tennis for hours on an Asics Gel Resolution and not feel any pain. Now, the sole of my foot feels like it was beaten up. This shoe offers almost zero cushioning. After 2 hours of playing, I can hardly walk. I've given up using it. Shifted to the Babolat SFX -- rate one of the top most comfortable tennis shoes. It's cheaper too.

    Just bought a pair and had to return them because they are WAY too narrow. I have always worn a 14 EE from New Balance, but tried the Asics to prevent supination ankle rolls, and they have a 2E width, but it doesn't mean the same thing for ASICS as it does New Balance. Why the toe box of most shoes is a V shape, I will never understand. I can't be the only person whose big toe is on the medial side of his foot!

    I have to say, coming from the Gel Res 8 I'm incredibly disappointed in the 9s. The new upper is so stretchy that my forefoot slides out over the front lateral side of the shoe. It's impossible for me to feel locked down in these shoes without tying them so tight that my feet hurt. Asics also reduced the cushion in the forefoot. The 8s we're super comfy, and these hurt the ball of my foot. I've had to put aftermarket orthotics in the 9s to make them playable. Hoping that I wear through these pretty fast so I can try going down a half size to see if it resolves the problems.
    Overall, I'd call these a pretty big downgrade from the 8s which are in my top 3 favorite shoes of all time.

There where some reviews b4, but they ran out of stock but now back with new models and wanted to know what you thought of them. Especially the varisty as there no reviews on the type of outsole the shoes uses. Thank you for all the work and hope you doing well.

    I had an awful experience with the Gel-Res 9. I find them to run narrower and so I ordered a wide and didn’t find much of an improvement. I loved the Gel-Res 6, 7 and liked the 8’s. I can’t wear the new Gel-Res 9 as they are just too narrow for my foot type. The Dynawall really beat-up the sides of my feet.

      Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm currently wearing the 8s (clay 12 US and hard court 11.5 US) with no issues and I am contemplating buying the 9s. I have flat feet and wear custom orthotics. I'm a 45 Yr old male player (European equivalent of 5.0+) and comfort is becoming more of a priority as I'm getting older. I was concerned to read though that you (and several other it seems) experience pain on the sides of your feet due to the Dynawall lateral enhancements. So I'm really on the fence right now. Sounds like if I do switch to the 9s I should buy the 2e Wide version in both clay and hard court. Would you agree?

    Great video. Asics are great, but uknown largely. I'd really be interested in an Asics series - Kayano Gel vs. Nimbus vs Cloud etc ... and which has the Bset gel cushioning (i've always wondered that) etc .. including older classic models too. Think that would be a great series! Waverider 10's are classics!

    Great great video!!! I’m an eager user of the Resolution since their first edition and was looking for the drop of the shoe which I asked to Asics as well with no answer. So, thanks a lot for revealing that info!!!!
    One question: what do you think should be the average duration (hours of play) of this shoe before changing pair, I mean for an average 4.5 player???

    upper durability -- that's the issue with shoes like these...most times the crease becomes a crack somewhere around your smallest toes left or right depending on how much lateral movement and pivots are made. IMO, pricey shoes with this kind of upper doesn't last long for budget minded users' expectation.

  • @HardyHarz
    @HardyHarz Год назад

    Wondering how much better these will be vs the Gel Resolution 8s. The 8s tore my feet up - the lack of cushioning in the forefoot caused major issues for me. The balls of my feet hurt so bad that people started asking me if my feet were bothering me as I played. I ended up pivoting to the Nike Zoom Court NXT in hopes that the cushioning in the forefoot would help and thankfully it did.
    So I'm very hesitant to try the Asics line again as the resulting foot pain from the 8s lasted for a good 3-4 months until it finally healed completely.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  Год назад +1

      If you had that much of a problem in the 8 I dunno if the 9 is going to be THAT much of a difference - you just probably don’t match with the last of the shoe

    I wore the Gel Resolution 8 but after some weeks, the foam really made shoe tend sideways. If they were just laying around they turned slightly inside and I don’t know if that’s good or not. I okay collegiate tennis and broke the complete sole (it deattached) after 6 weeks. Is that normal?

    Hi there, genuine technical question.
    I have a pair of gel resolution 9 myself, which i love.
    I also have an extra pair of Footprint custom insoles, since im also a skateboarder (33yo) looking to take care of whats left of his feet and minimizing impacts .
    I’ve molded my footprints into my Resolution 9. Feels good at first glance. I am just wondering:
    Knowing all that you know, do you believe i am doing a dis-service to a well designed shoe? Is the shock absorbing technology of the footprint actually counter productive with the intentions of a well thought tennis shoe ( bounce / speed etc).
    I’d be curious to have your opinion on this.
    Thank you x 1000s, regardless if you answer or not, your video inputs and reviews have been very valuable in taking care of my feet anyhow.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  Год назад

      I don’t think thick strobels or shock absorbing insoles really do much to the performance of a shoe - more adds to it- I just did the bicon 2 which has a similar feature built into them and although it makes the tests look worse , the performance is the same so if it’s me I’m not worrying about it

    Morning Doctor Zach!!!! Been a fan of the channel especially the dissecting part which give viewers an in depth look on shoe tech. I’m a runner and been running in Asics, however I notice their gel cushion on the forefoot, heel or both is merely the size and thickness of a coin which I think barely absorbs any shock. Flytefoam is mostly doing the job. At this point I believe it’s just gimmick for marketing purposes unless Asics molds in more gel. Thoughts on this?

    • @markmoore5981

      It also seems to me the the GEL part of this brand is in name only these days. The GEL cushioning units get smaller and smaller every year. This GEL unit seems to be a token to maintain the name.

    A very informative review of the Gel Resolution 9. For the past year, I've been in an adidas Barricade. I've been very tempted to try the Gel Resolution line because of the good reviews such as this . I was curious about the sizing, I wear size 7.5 w/ 4" width (is that wide?), and I currently use a Game Day pro insole by Move. Should I go with a size 8? or true to size? Should I consider a wide? I also have a high-ish arch. It sounds like the shoe is on the narrow side. Thanks in advance for your input. Your channel is one of the best (if not the best).
