You saved my mod. I'm one of the lucky few that has a 2018 Sierra SLT and I bought the 2018 Clock spring only to find out that my truck had the powered pigtail, but it was a 2014 -2016 style instead. I could see the plugs were different but I kept trying to force the two ends together for some time. I sent Phil an email and he knew right away and made me an adapter harness. 2014-2016 is more of a square connector like the one in this video and the 17-18 is more oval with a weatherpack gasket inside the connector. I think he said the clock springs are interchangeable so just order the one that matches your plug.
Gotta love the GM inconsistencies :) Glad I was able to figure out a solution for ya! The clocks springs are interchangeable. So IF you wanted to use the plug in your truck, you would just need a 14-17 clock spring of your 2018 truck :) Thanks for the feedback! #MODon.
Just got my EBay heated steering wheel for my 17’ 2500 HD, Harness came in today, just waiting on my clock spring. Excellent video!! Thank you for building these harness’. MAN… can’t wait to get this mod done!!
Awesome man! Appreciate ya!
Hello Pete, your 2018 harness works like a dream, I'm a partsman at a GM dealership and your harness and instructions are super easy compared to dealing with GM.
Thank you!
First of all, let me just say thank you for sharing your knowledge with all us DIY'ers. Just finished the Heated steering wheel upgrade on my 2018 Silverado with the help of your harness. Without your help and that of Tinkering Fox I would never have attempted it. Thanks again and keep 'em coming!
UPDATE….. Just got done doing my heated steering wheel swap. If anyone wants the part #’s,,,, First though, PHIL, the wiring harness worked AWESOME, your video showed every step. Thank you very much!!! I have a 2017 Chev 2500HD Diesel LT. Steering wheel # Black GM #8448368…. Clock spring GM# 23381966. and the wiring harness to power the Heated button, got right here from Phil, see his notes… The swap went flawlessly, other than forgot to UNPLUG the clock spring BEFORE I popped the steering wheel off. Thank god I had to replace it anyway. Other than that.. Great.. AND… it works and new parts left over!! Other than the steering wheel. :) Thanks again Phil… Great work!!
Your great Phil!!!
Doing swap Friday from Custom to Denali steering wheel & cluster. So pumped too get all the extra bells & whistles! Thank's Brother!
How did this swap go? Most seem to be LT package trucks. I have a custom with just cruise buttons. Want a leather wrapped wheel and figured might as well get heat option.
My man, always glad to see new videos by you
Thanks bud!
Sweet upload as always sir. Thanks. Going to check my 16 out in the morning. Hopefully it’s just plug and play. But great work.
My truck has the fuse and wire in place for the heated wheel , but it is not connected into the fuse box. my question is what color wire do i have to find to plug into number 37?
Phil please tell me you have some way to retrofit cooled seats in an LT :P
Great vid! Man you are helping me allot. Have you thought about doing a rear sliding window??
I already have a sliding window on mine. I have taken the complete interior apart on my truck and can tell you that the motor for the sliding window sits behind the rear passenger seat. :) It doesn't look terrible to add this. Just need to add all the components and wiring.
I think you are divinely inspired. My wife hates you. I am sure I am not the first to say that.
Tim Kroeker :) Thanks! Not the first time I’ve heard that.
I did mi e thanks to a hike and it was really easy with the new harness
Hey I've been trying to do so much research but I just keep getting lost on all the forms and people saying different things with the different years and the different part numbers and I'm just like ready to pull my hair out.. I was hoping you could maybe help point me in the right direction. I have a 2019 Chevy 1500. I have gotten multiple part numbers for the clock spring and I'm not sure which steering wheel I need but it looks just like yours did you have a part number for the clock spring or any wiring you need or the steering wheel you got? Please forgive me if I've missed something somewhere and you've already listed this info really appreciate your help and I look forward to hearing from you Thank you so much!!!

Larry - Contact me at HarnessDR.com I'll get your squared away and will walk you though it all if needed. Hang in there.
@@philgamboa2906 okay thanks man!
Hey Phil, do have the part number for the heated steering wheel?
im definitely checking out my 17 in the morning!!!!!
What’s the part number for the steering wheel. And would it be the same for a 2016 Silverado?
23278626 or 84483768. This is for black, Silverado 1500 Trucks. Without Crash Avoidance button.
Awesome P! Off topic but are you going to do a follow video about your hmi module programming by whiteautoand media????
Can I do this if I have a 2014 lt model. It doesn’t have any of the audio controls but I want to upgrade to that steering wheel and a Denali cluster. Can you help me find which clock spring and wiring I would need
Any concerns with airbag discharging after or during install? It is the only thing making me a little gun shy for this install.
Brady Wright - Not at all. Just remember to disconnect your battery and wait like 10-15 mins before starting.
Hmi update????? Hint hint
Fat Head Cycles - Ah yes. Lol. My DVD/BluRay Retrofit with RSE Flip Down Screen is done... I suppose I can make a video of my unlocked HMI now :)
First of all thanks for your videos. I was looking for a heated steering wheel and sense you seem to know just about *everything* for these trucks lol, I was wondering if you knew if the steering columns are the same on all these vehicles? In other words will a heated steering wheel from a Yukon, Suburban, Denali, Chevy 3500 etc all fit a GMC Sierra 1500?? And if so, will I run into problems with the clock spring? Any help would be appreciated 👍
Phil, great videos! I really appreciate watching them.
Question... can you do a video where you add integrated trailer brake to a 2016 Silverado that did not originally come with it?
Can you find details to make this work?
I am actually working on this myself on my truck. Not that I need it, but I've gotten a lot of requests for this. There are 2-3 modules needed for this, plus programming and wiring....Stay tuned for that.
Phil Gamboa Thanks! I can't wait to see it. I'm really surprised this is not an add-on from the dealer.
Yup. Too many modules and interaction with the cluster and system.
Excellent video , thanks...👍
Phil, I ordered the new wheel and clock spring from the GM site and installed it tonight. I’m almost there, but the heat connector from my new clock spring doesn’t fit into the connector under the dash. Doesn’t appear close. I have a 2018 LT.
i was going to just splice the wires together, but I also popped the fuse block out first, and it doesn’t appear that I have the wire running to it.
I’d buy the wiring from you, but I’m guessing it has the same connector that’s under my dash that won’t fit. Any thoughts on this? For now I’m going to try and source the pins on the fuse block connector and just splice it together.
Can you make a video on how to install the lin bus harness to add steering wheels controls to a Silverado 1500 W/T
I just got a 2009 Chevy Silverado LTZ and I’m curious if you’ve had any experience with having a heated steering wheel to this year thanks for your help
I really appreciate your videos! I have a 2017 Silverado that doesn't have radio controls on the steering wheel. If I buy the controls (Radio Switch - GM 23262276)
will there be a hook up available to plug it into? What else will I need to do to make it work?
Hey Phil I was wondering what kit do you recommend to install a remote start for my 2015 Silverado Texas edition double cab lt. thanks in advance
I've got no knowledge/experience on remote start. I hear you can add this like factory.
How can I get in contact with you directly to purchase your plug and play harness you make? I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado Blackout Edition. I love your videos. I want to do a bit of the stuff I see on your channel to my truck. I want to upgrade my steering wheel with a leather one and the buttons to control the volume on my touch screen.
phil.gamboa@icloud.com
Hey Phil I love all your videos man I have a 2017 Silverado lt I swap the whole interior for leather interior and I want to do the center console to how can I get your cable for that
Does the heated wheel turn on with the remote start if you use your own wiring, or does it have to run through the BCM to automatically turn on with the remote start? Does it shut off on its own after it has been on for some time, like it does on trucks that come equipped with the option? Thank you.
Great video! I watched Tinkering Fox's video on swapping out the steering wheel, and I've just order a new wheel and clock spring. Another great video! Hope it goes well. Off topic, my heated seats doesn't come on when I remote start the truck, they work other wise and it is selecting ON in the settings menu, any ideas on that? 2015 Sierra SLE All Terrain. Thx.
When you remote start, it should warm up slightly based on outside temps. You won't see the light come on, in the buttons. It is a very light heat with remote start.
@@philgamboa2906 OK, thx
I see your truck has trailer assist breaking. Mine doesn’t. What would it take to do the factory style installation? Is that something you could explore?
Is there a harness needed to swap from a work truck model steering wheel I wanna add the radio controls,,don’t care for the hand warmers
www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/192664-wt-trim-with-color-dic-steering-wheel-controls-io5-stereo-retrofit/?page=5
Sorry if I missed it but my truck only has the cruise control. If I only want to add the audio controls should it be pre wired for that ?
I bought a new wheel and clock spring. Only half the buttons on my wheel work? Any idea why?
2016 Sierra WT. I've verified that I do have the fuse you mentioned but the female plug is not installed. Would your harness still work in a WT edition truck?
Kyle Stanford - Yes. You most like have the wiring in place too, coming from the fuse panel. It likely stops after the first connector above the BCM. So, if the violet wire w/yellow stripe is there, you’ll have to remove it and omit it. Then install mine.
@@philgamboa2906 sounds like I need to make contact with you then. I'll need several items from you. I'm slowly listing everything I'd like to do and add. My truck also has manual windows. I cant seem to find any information about swapping but I'm sure they run through the BCM for the auto-up feature. I guess I'll have to send my BCM to WAMS to be programmed for them correct? I'm going to purchase both door harnesses and send them to you for the dl3 mirror upgrade as well. I can email you if you'd like to continue there.
Thank you so much!
Yes, please email me at gamboaphil@gmail.com I don't know how easy (if even possible) to add power windows to a truck that doesn't have them. That's a tall order.
I have an 18 LT with heated seats. Is there an easy way to see if it’s plug and play? If fuse 32 is there, is that a good sign it’s plug and play?
Any idea if at the fuse panel the PIN numbers would be the same
Stephen Bowdring should be.
Phil Gamboa
Hi took a lol in the fuse panel and the fuse is present for the heated wheel but can’t find the plug end Also looking at the adding heated seats and fuse are present wondering how to connect to the seats
hello phil, i was wondering. how did you order that tahoe cluster? did you order it in a gm parts website or did you had to go to a gm dealership to order it?
Thank you Phil for a great Video. However, I have a question; first, is there a harness to heat the steering wheel for a 2021 Chevy Silverado Custom 1500? I just recently upgraded my original steering wheel to a leather steering with cruise and radio controls. I know I need to replace the Clock-Spring but is there a harness that continues from clock-spring to a connector under the dashboard (which I don't have) and continue towards the fuse box as you identify in the video? I really appreciate your help...thanks.
I am still undergoing exploration of the different options available for retrofit. It's been a very slow and agonizing process and global supply constraints are one of the reasons for slow development.
@@philgamboa2906 Thanks again Phil. I really would appreciate any info or harness you come up with. One thing I think I left out. My upgraded steering wheel does have a control button for heat. So, now, I have cruise, heat and audio controls on the steering wheel. I'm still looking for a clock spring that will allow for cruise and heat. I think I can get the audio to work soon. Thanks again Phil...you've been great.
What is that wire harness called. I did a retro fit on my 2018 Impala, but I can’t find that harness anywhere. Please help if ya can.
I build it. Visit my site - HarnessDR.com and can see if I can build something for you.
What are the chances of this working on a 2015 LT Model?
Many on GM-Trucks.com have done this to 2014 - 2018. Some have the actual mate plug, and some don't. Some that have the plug are also reporting that it may or may not be hot. So depending on the conditions, the upgrade is very possible.
Phil did Wheel and Clock spring upgrade and now Service Airbag light and cluster display. Plugged in code reader and no codes any suggestions 🤔
You’ll need a specific SRS reader to see why the SRS light triggered.
Hey phil, looks like I am going to need a complete harness as my truck doesnt have the mate plug. How do I get in contact with you about that? Thanks

Can I purchase a heated steering wheel harness from you as shown in your RUclips video?
Thank you,

I'm about to swap my steering wheel for one in better shape. Is it easy to properly realign the new one? Thanks
What issues have you had since owning this truck? I'm in the process of looking at the '17 and '18 LT,s.
How can I get the harness from you?
What options do you have to have for the pig tail to be hot
None. Just need to order my harness to bypass that pigtail.
Do we disconnect the battery first? Thanks!!
I don't but always a good idea :)
Thanks!
hi, great video. my mechanic said i would have the get the computer re-flashed, is that true?
No. Not for the swap.
@@philgamboa2906 where can I get the right wheel and clock spring?
@@dwightgerardi9742 GM or local dealer.
Hey Phil what was the part number for the clock spring that had the heated steering wheel harness? Thanks in advance 👍
Hey did you ever find out the part numbers you needed?
How or where do I purchase the extra wiring harness?
Would this work for a 2015 chevy 2500hd ltz?
Hey I am doing this upgrade - I don't understand; I have the wire connector under the dash already and the fuse on the panel. If thats not "Hot", where do those wires go that are in the connector existing? Do I need to remove that in order to add a new connector? I have a 2018 Sierra
You’ll need my harness. GM didn’t run the wiring all the way through.
@Phil Gamboa ok, do you know which one? Or do you need the part number from the clockspring?
@@philgamboa2906 So I pulled out the fuse panel and I'm pretty sure the wire is connected, it is a violet wire behind the yellow one. The only concern I have is that my connector under the dash is oval shaped so not sure what the clockspring connector looks like. The clock spring I bought is part # 23381966
Where can I get the plug ?
Is it possible to add volume control into steering wheel of my 2018 Work Truck model.

Did you ever figure out the clockspring you needed?

Looking to buy PN’s 84483775 and 84186646. Are these the correct parts?

Did you ever figure out if those parts were correct? I got a 2019 1500 looking to do the same upgrade did you ever end up doing it?
Do you any Facebook or instagram page?
I don't have a page specifically for the mods, but I am a vendor on GM-Trucks.com and on several FB GM Trucks Groups. You can also email me at gamboaphil@gmail.com for more info.
$47?
What's the question? Cost? Link will have cost and include various shipping options based on your location.
can you turn on the heat in steering wheel with a aftermarket remote starter ?
