      I have a question. is it possible to swap the hvac controls for the digital hvac controls. It’s GM part # 84692242. I searched the forums and I’ve seen people do it in their 14-18. Wondering if it’s possible. Looks like it just pops in.

      did you ever figure out the heated wheel? or just didn't worry about it? Also does this work on the 4 cylinder? I was curious if it actually reads the Turbo Boost pressure. I was hoping you would pop the throttle to see if it would.

    THANK YOU !!! This video was the most informative and detailed I've come across. I did my wheel swap a few weeks ago before getting a new cluster (the cheaper of the two versions). You explained and detailed every step including close ups("not for the faint of heart"). I have hi-lighted your video in my post on a Trail Boss forum. I thank you for the time and effort put in for the DIYers so we know how to to do the swap and do it correctly. Everything works, except for the heated button !

      Glad to hear. I haven’t been able to figure out a way to use the button to pose the heated wheel. Unfortunately it runs thru the BCM somehow. There is a way to bypass it but involves cutting and splicing some wires on the clock spring and inside the steering wheel. And an aftermarket controller and switch would need to be used. I am not brave enough for that yet.

      Thank you so much one last question. It looks like your original steering wheel did not have volume control for any ability to pick up or hang up phone calls. Just like mine. Did you have to add another harness for it to sync with the radio head unit? Or is that wire already sitting there waiting. I did notice that other harness that you bought was a 1-wire which I thought only control the dashboard but how do you get the new steering wheel to control the radio volume in Bluetooth Thanks!

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  2 года назад

      @@nathaniel6246 The single wire I added in the video basically allows the new steering wheel to control the radio. I didn't add anything else. My entire install is shown in the video. Just wondering if the heated steering wheel circuit is just a straight 12v? If so, why couldn't you just find a switched circuit to tie into and run it up to steering wheel and splice into your heat switch? It seems that the switch isn't getting power...adding a dedicated 12v source should work...correct?

    Do the steering wheel controls only work after you change the gauges?

      No idea. It runs thru the BCM. Not one single fuse runs it. You’ll probably need a dealership visit.

    Could you tell me how to know if my 2022 Silverado Custom is the refreshed model? My cluster now looks exactly like the one you removed.

      Best way would be to have a dealer run your vin. They can tell you definitely.

      I have the refreshed and the difference is the one button that indicates how close up you follow the vehicle I don’t of you for the new safety feature.

    I bought denali 2022 cluster ti install it in my 2018 tahoe
    But its dosent fir its bigger than the old one is that normal or i have to buy only denali 2018

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  5 месяцев назад

      2018 is an entirely different truck. It will not fit. If you want a Denali cluster you need to get one for a 2018 truck.

      Yes. But it will still need to be programmed. I think WAMS can do that for you.

    So with that single wire, it’ll make everything work? Including the steering wheel controls to the stereo?

      Yep!

      I was observing my clock spring and I think I need a new one so I regain cruise and radio control. If you haven’t done it, you should check to see if your clock spring has pin #9 already on it. I only found out after I installed the single wire, buttoned everything up and tested. I found out that the buttons didn’t work, so I doubled checked my work. I didn’t upgrade the cluster but I was expecting radio control and cruise control but those didn’t work. I happened to just stare at the clock spring while I contemplated life and saw that pin #9-12 on it were blank. Then I realized that I probably need a clock spring with all the pins so I can use the buttons. I’m confused as to how I lost cruise control. Unless the new harness on the steering wheel is wired a little differently than my original steering wheel with only cruise control.

      @@gohangan Did you ever try the new clock spring? Sounds very similar to the issues I am having. I upgraded to the leather wheel, but kept the factory Custom cluster. I also have a 2022.5 - thinking this may be my issue. But also holding out hope for a way to make it work!

      @@JosephKravec i did order a new clock spring. I think it was around $40 so I wasn’t too hesitant to buy a new one. I have cruise control but no function to the radio controls. I think my truck might be missing some of the factory wires. I don’t have as many wires coming from my cluster compared to the video. It was worth a try and now I have decorative buttons that I press while I wait in traffic. 😂

      It's not used. Probably used to program it at the factory with a computer.
