FYI if you like Dorf the Duel, you will most certainly like Dorf the stand alone. Yes it does say that it is a "co-op" game, but I find it best personally playing it solo and using the campaign sheet. Some of the task's are tough and really make you make hard decisions. I think if you like this game and do have the time to play it Solo you will actually like the original Dorf Romantik even better.

The game looks like fun but I'm a little confused with the rules. It seems like the player with the face up tiles is just copying the player with the face down tiles. How can it be a competition if the boards are the same? Maybe I'm misinterpreting the rules or something? Idk

I think the point is you have the same tiles, but you do not copy each other. Who can get the best score using the same tiles. My City and My Island are similar gameplay.

    Dorfromantik
    Coop
Impossible, just solo, or now duel, but the base game is everything but coop.

I want to buy ONLY ONE of the 2 Dorf games (Original OR Duel). I don't necessarily want to play it with 2 people but there are little things in the Duel game that we can import with the Original game... so the Duel game is more complete than the Original?... yes? ??!!! In the Original game, the small boxes are unlockable but when you have unlocked all the small boxes, are the pieces and objectives identical to those in the Duel game?!... yes??!! Then, Duel has double the pieces (Red & Blue) that the Original contains so it's twice as good to have Duel instead of the Original. (???) I'm still trying to figure out why it would be better to buy the Original. I've already searched the internet for an answer to my question without really finding it. So thank you for your personal advice.

I haven’t completed the original one, so I haven’t unlocked everything yet. If you are going to play by yourself then I think I would suggest the original one. It has the campaign mode and loads of challenges to unlock. When I play by myself I play the original. When I play with someone, then the duel. But both are fun and reasonably priced.

The only thing missing in the original is the Photographer expansion. It was added in the dual as an expansion for the original. Maybe someone is selling the mini expansion online if they don’t need it.
