"Dorfromantik" is one of those German words that have a deeper meaning. It's more of a feeling, the feeling of a small village, which is like the opposite of the pressure you could feel when growing up in a big city. Greetings from fellow German Engineer :D
Dorf = village (cognate with English "thorp(e)" and Dutch "dorp"; German consonant shift p -> f, also th -> d along with Dutch) Romantik = romanticism (or romance; in this context it's the bliss you feel in/of an idyl(l) or paradise)
the triangle is more of a grater than sign meaning that the quest requires exactly that many items to be added. once you meet that goal you can then expand on it for other quests.
To clarify: the quest completes as usual, and when it does, the triangle causes a flag to be added to the area. If you then close off the area, you will get Additional points (and probably tiles. Can't quite recall) over and above the normal quest reward.
The boat stations are actually a mix - they can be used for train tracks as well. And the flags mean that you get bonus for closing off the flagged group :P
Came here to say that. The edges it shades are the ones that need capping to close off an area so that feature can't be extended further. Like with Knobwood Forrest.
Bought this game after you last video. Most relaxing game I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing :D Edit: The flags found in sections indicate that you need to close off expansion (make it so you can't connect like tiles) for a reward.
Maybe you've figured these things out but challenges count items on a tile, so that field was actually +2 not +1. Forests count trees and towns count houses. The flags are from changes that have the triangle in the corner. The flag are an additional challenge where you have to completely close off that section (field/forest/town) and the highlighted edges are what's left to be closed. And
the highlighted tiles in the middle of nowhere are challenge tiles that reward you with the kinds of challenges you see in the top right corner of your screen.
So I picked this game up after your last vid and I have been having a tone of fun. Some things I learned, if you haven't figured them out already is that every time you get a 'perfect' tile, when every edge is matched to it's adjacent tile, then you get an extra tile added to your stack. Some challenges create those flags and are indicated by the little triangle on the challenge bubble. Then you fully enclose an area with a flag then you get extra score and more tiles. So you want to try and make lots of perfect tiles and close areas with flags whenever possible. Thanks for showing this game to me, keep up the great content!
I knew you could do it! The only UNgeneer to find a way to put shafts and balls on every game! Congrats, mate! Really proud of you. Now grab a cup of coffee and celebrate! Cheers!
RCE, thanks for doing this game. My wife and I got it after your first video, and we've been loving it. She's been needing a nice calm game like this, so thank you.
Please read this! I love your content and the way you make videos. I was one of your first 50 subscribers and I subscribed on the video before the polybridge tensigrity video. Keep up man.
You're voice is so calming, today is the first day i saw your channel. When i started i thought your already so calming and i love the eco-freindly games you play. and you love to build.
Flags indicate that this area wants to be 'cut off', the coloured edges tell you where it's 'open' - it gives you points and some tiles, it's good for when you are running out of hexagons but have open flagged areas you can close quickly. It's generally a good idea to keep 2 to 3 open sides so you can act quickly if you need to.
if you match each side of a Hexagon with the element that is on it (house to house, field to field, etc) you get a perfect score. each perfect also gives you a additional tile. just saying that way you can reach way longer games :)
The flag is a quest to close of a field or town, so that nothing can be added to it and also gives you more tiles. Basically, if you don't have quest, look for flags and if you don't have flags try to make your existing stuff more accesable, this is my current strategy, which usually gives me 9000-11000 score
Just so you know, the flags appear when you complete one of the objectives. Also a quick side tip: the tower with water around it can have both tracks AND river tiles directed into it, this will plus one point to any track or water objective you have.
"You thought it was a dwarf dating sim?! Oh, _Dwarf_ Romantik." To be fair, the Dwarf Fortress community has used the term "dorf" to refer to the bearded bois since forever, so that's probably where the confusion comes from...
I saw this in my steam que and you were playing it, my headset broke, I recently lost my school earphones and my computer diesnt have speakers, so I pulled up my phone to watch it
flags mean you need to cap off the area to get more tiles.. : ) hovering over highlights all the open tiles that need capping off.. ( I hope this makes sense.. )
@6:28 I love Carcassonne but I’m terrible at the game. I’m really bad at games that require short term strategy/tactical thinking. Usually I just rely heavily on farming and hope for the best 😂

The railroad can go through the boat station in case you want to know. The name of the tile is Water-Train Station.
Probably one oft the most useful tiles tbh since you can get rid of some nasty water + rail combinations

Note: Quests with triangles on their bubbles mean you have to close off the area to get additional tiles.

Actually those quests leave a flag in the area when completed that disappears to give an extra 5 tiles if the area is closed off

There'd definitely be folk stories (old creepypastas) about the unexplainable wheat field in the middle of a forest

What are your thoughts upon the Hexagon?
Hexagon is MUCH better than Pentagon
The water station can have railroad tiles intersecting it, you can have it as a sort of crossroads for your river system and rail line.
The water building is a link

With the water station, (10:45) it connects to both train track and water, meaning it can close off both a train track and a river
You can run but you can’t hide from the Knob Monster. Haha. He takes many forms. Bridges, towns, trees
Another great video. As expected
