Alex, you could always charge for a repair attempt before even looking at the board, this way you get paid either way. If the issue is fixed, bill for the remining balance. As always fantastic work and you make it look so easy!
Alex, for the Switch Lite fix, upon physical inspection I noticed that you might have missed the 150K resistor sitting right behind the daughterboard connector, which is next to the battery plug you've replaced. It's missing.
That's unpopulated by default, you can tell by the color of the pads, if they're golden it's empty by default, if it's silver and pointy something has been removed by force, if it's silver and smooth it's either desoldered or empty by default but with solder pads, empty by default ones are usually too perfect to be mistaken with a desoldered component.
So often it sounds like that you have to protect yourself and the work that you do, but you don't have to, rules are rules and the people who wants their item repaired knows that. Great job Patrick from Denmark
Watching you using the solder wick is like seeing art. So satisfying to look the wick sucked lead like a vampire... I loved seeing your video everyday, it's my inspiration... Thank you Alex, Love from Indonesia
I've done a few of those type C connectors on switches before, and they're not a beginner friendly job. The one thing I always do differently is not to put leaded/low melt solder on the back row of pins when removing the old connector. This way, I find that when they eventually melt, the hidden row will be close to melting too and I'm less likely to attempt to pull the connector up when 1 or 2 of the inner pads are still stuck and rip them as a result. But each to their own.
Hi, I'm from Brazil, I really like your videos, I would like to know the microscope model and the set of lenses you use! A friend who lives in Texas said that in the US they don't fix computer equipment, but watching your videos I noticed that this is not true! You do really nice services just like I do here in Rio de Janeiro. A big hug and congratulations on the repairs! And the love you have for your work is amazing! Thanks!
@Repair Wins You're already halfway there for being honest and trying to learn by looking at someone else. Many other repair guys would not even admit their mistakes, even to their own selves and open up any device, knowing full well that they will damage it. They will wreck the device further and still ask for money like ransom. I hate such losers. It makes good people look bad. In general, the idea that these people are essentially promoting is not very different from the likes of big name companies that promote replacement over repair, or deincentivise repair.
I replaced the left control stick and now L3 is not responding when I click down, i had trouble getting a stripped screw when taking it apart, could scratching the board affect L3?
Charging for repair attempts with keeping the device as an alternative is pretty fair. If it can't be repaired, most of the time it is of little value to the customer anyway.
I didn't get recommendation of the video, I think RUclips is penalizing your account on the basis of lowered frequency of uploading. It might be that their weird algorithm doesn't like fluctuations in upload frequency or change of thematic in videos. Maybe you noticed a reduced view count / subscriber increase rate.

While you press and hold the chip, is it not possible that the excess solder shorts the connections under. How are you so sure that they don't?
Exactly. You should NEVER push on a balled chip. you place, nudge, and it will sit it place on its own.
I don't think that particular chip was balled if we are talking about the same thing.
@@mrmedoali4200 That wasn't a BGA.
@@edwardgalvan5412 Oh no I'm talking like in general and referring to balled BGA chips
@@azharuddin2023 Yes I know that. I was just speaking in general and referring to balled/reballed BGA chips and not this particular chip in the video.

Thank you for explaining why you use lo-melt solder onto top of un-leaded solder - makes sense as you dont want to use hot air to damage components
Nice work alex. It seems you work like on an assembly line...one board after another. Thank you for the video. Really great.
Wish you and your loved ones a happy bayram
What components are you most concerned about when using hot air?
Aluminum caps
@@bogotstogoskiing thanks
thanks for answering my question from earlier in this video.
How do you melt the solder but not melting the plastic??? 😮😮😮 15:20
I think because he applies hot air from the bottom of the board in this case
Hi Alex are you using low melt solder to solder the new connector on the Board?
Best regards from Germany
I’m going to buy some cause that cleans up way better than mine.

look at the description bar under the video......the link with the exact microscope and lenses he use is right there
The connector it's broken inside. Just like me. I can feel you, little shiny fella.

Brilliant job on the connector. It would have taken an unskilled guy, hours and he might have even ripped the pads.

at 9.30 i wonder if you could use some cone shape pieces of metal to go in them holes to help align it easyier for us novices

Are Switches just made poorly or are they just used so frequently that they break? Seems like alot of switch repairs
In my experience it usually comes down to kids don't know how to be gentle

original flux? why you syringes has no label?
Everytime I tried to solder a connectors with hot air , I failed by burning plastic
So sad

Can you buy switch lite usb c ports yet? For some reason I can't find them, the normal switch USB c ports don't fit comfortably.
Another great video. What is that meter beside your DMM? I have a signal generator that looks basically like that. I have never seen you use it.

What heat is your hot air set at after you apply low melt solder?
Yes, I was curious about that too.
For some it may not even be a matter of data. I love my machines. That's it.
I wish you were in New Zealand 😢😢
probably cost more to send it in get repaired and For return shipping than getting a new or refurbished one
Do you send the flux to Brazil?
What's that liquid you are using to solder?

Can i ask why not replace cpu if it is faulty like other chips
you can’t . encrypted data from emmc nand must match with the cpu .

When you clean up flux from the board do you just use rubbing alcohol or is it something else?
Cotton swap called "q-tip" also
Recommend board cleaner liquid. Alcohol doesn't really work for me.
Yes, Isopropyl alcohol.
Yes, preferably 90% +

"double dose" 🤣. Gj.
Is low melt different than 60/40?
Yes. It is completely different metal alloys. It's usually indium alloy.
Also 60/40 is for soldering components low melt solder is strictly for desoldering only
