I Paid $80 For A BROKEN Nintendo Switch Lite - Can I Fix It? I paid $80 (plus shipping) for a broken, disassembled Switch Lite on eBay to see if I could fix it. It had some missing parts including a locking tab for one of the ribbon cables. The Switch Lite also had a screen that wasn't working.

"Should be an easy fix" - famous last words.
At least you got one Switch out of two.
and a video
SHOULD BE AN EASY FIX. Red flags :)
Lol...yep!
The worst red flags, lol. I can see that ad discription now . . .
(brand new only dropped half a micrometer . . . with only a slight small issue that is "easy" to fix and that affects 1% of consoles)
How does this coment say 1 day ago
@@retrogamingcritic3555 ikr that’s what I’m saying
@@retrogamingcritic3555 patrion magic
I have a HUGE sneaking suspicion. that this switch might have been disassembled by a child or even an adult thinking they "know" what they are doing.
I fixed my backplate because it was broken and dirty, and then I fixed my Joy-Con rail. Its really not hard.
@@coolevlo1 not everyone is as cool as you
@@pennymikk lmao
Maybe they thought it was a wall switch and was trying to figure out how it could work in a house...
After that was a fail . . . They went with plan b.
They looked up it's most common problem and posted it as a "easy fix" on fleabay.
(just randomly made up that, but It could be possable)
It could have been a servbot.
I actually quoted you when I was showing my youngest daughter how to do her CPU thermal paste lol
This is amazing!
Ha, ha...that's awesome!
Couldnt you have just left all those components in the gray switch since technically you fixed it lol. But the turquoise one would sell quicker anyways. Good stuff 👍
With coming off of eBay, it's not surprising more was wrong with it than it first looked like. Great fix btw, glad you could keep give life to it again.
Thanks 👍
Simple fix my a**, lol. Great job with the repair.
Lol...thanks!
I watch your videos so that one day I too, can always put the perfect amount of thermal paste! Keep up the good work!
Ha, ha...thanks for watching!
Lmaooooooo, everytime when i try to put thermal paste into a ps4, i do too much🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man, I love watching these videos. I have done small repairs, this just looks intimidating. Well done!
You can do it!
This thing was DEFINITELY the result of a botched repair job. The pins of the ribbon cable and connector being damaged implies improper removal of the former from the latter.

More awesome repairs. I love watching your repair vids.
I find your repairs fascinating, especially opening up equipment that I historically thought was inaccessible. I also love that you bring new life to things that some people throw away. Thanks Tonics fix
Glad you like them!
I really like the way how you explain . it keeps me going until I finish the whole video.👍
Yes, another Tronicsfixs video to start my Friday morning off right.
The multi tests to narrow down what is wrong is pretty cool, I hate having to do it sometimes but it does have to be done to figure out what's wrong more often than not, Nice work Steve
Sometimes that's the fastest/best way. If there were schematics I'd have something else to go on but without them I just have to use what I have.
OMG, I LIKE YOUR WORK!!!
This video was interesting because there was a problem that you didn't already fix in a video.
Keep the good work!!
Great fault finding Steve 😁
Love watching the Switch repairs! 👌
Dude, I love these videos. Such top tier quality, and the microscope was a really cool touch. Keep ‘em coming!
I always love watching your repairs in case I ever end up running into similar issues. Nicely done!
Thanks 👍
So much satisfaction when u fix these broken ones😃
I was literally watching all of your nintendo switch and lite repairing and fixing and you make this one today I'm so happy
Glad you're enjoying these!
@@Tronicsfix would you consider to do more of these please i would really like that
now THAT was a more interesting fix than i anticipated! Great job dude!
I just got my iFixit tool kit yesterday and already took apart an old Xbox One and gave it a good cleaning and added the perfect amount of thermal paste.
This is amazing love this! I do repairs on my channel too so its great to see someone else starting out and having fun.
Love their tools!
what a legend. ive been here ever since the 45 handhelds fix part 1 and 2 :D
I started watching you fixing switch consoles well before I got one!!I hope I never need them of course but your line of videos on switch repair are awesome !! Kudos & well done 👍🏻
Love your videos! Love seeing all the different electronics given a new lease of life when normally people may have just thrown them away! Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks! Glad you’re enjoying them!
Very good analysis and fix again steve. I'm pretty impressed how they build the switch. With video's like this people can learn so much more then only looking on the outside. Keep it up! Hope you'll find a broken ps5 with a real challange soon.
been here since 20k subs crazy how time fly Steve I remember you only had that wood table and some tools , no tv or studio, like my father used to say the harder you work the more successful you will be .
Love hearing from my long time viewers! Thanks for the comment. I never thought RUclips would turn into this but so happy that it did!
Very good video. Love that you clearly explain your process when diagnosing issues and isolating them to components. Keep it up!
Really nice video!!! When I swap bad parts with good ones I call that working backwards.
I really enjoy watching and repairing these game consoles
Broke the screen while trying to fix joycon drift? Yeah, something doesn't add up.
Yeah, that person is a dirty liar
Great video, as always! I did saved a Switch lite just a month after they got released. The person tried to install some modchip of some sort and screwed it up. So, I undid what he had done, replaced broken, poped, capacitors on the nvidia APU, replaced the charge IC and other overheated caps and saved the poor thing. My kids have been using it ever since, but I really thought I wouldn't get it done without schematics. Again, we should all save electronics like you do!
When I replaced the top screen on a new Nintendo 2DS xl which has probably been dropped it did the same thing. Those screens can be very fragile and even more if their general integrity has been compromised.
Glad you got this switch lite running again 😄
Good job Steve you have improved so much over the years.
He has and he is doing amazing
I've just recently discovered your channel and must say that your videos are both entertaining and educational... a dying breed on YT :P Great content! Those iFixit tool sets also look amazing, I will eventually get myself one of those.
Nice. Please more consoles where an repair was attempted. Those "surprises" are just so interesting.
Nice work ! Thanks for your precision !!
You inspire me! Love the videos
Great fix! :D Keep those video comming!
Always satisfying to watch! :)
That looked like a challenging fix! great work, with so many (seemingly) small problems some of those were from manufacture? or a bad attempt at a repair? good job
Your fixing videos are the best on RUclips!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy them!
I quite enjoy Luis Rossman macbook repair videos as well ;)
Great video as always! I like your Switch and Switch Lite fixes
Me too I love watching him repair switches i enjoy repairing them myself its great fun if you wish to see me do some repairs
I just got my ifixit screwdriver kit and its so useful to work with
Really good fix and another great video I wouldn't have a clue where to start but it's very interesting watching you fix things
Worth watching to the end to see the perfect amount of thermal paste! :D
The LCD screen coming apart like that was interesting. Great video as always.
Glad you enjoyed it
I’m addicted to watching you fix stuff.
Love your videos man. Keep it up
You are the man! This video was particularly great.
Amazing job as always keep up the good work ;)
Thanks, will do!
whenever you see "easy fix" or "only powered on no other tests" you know its gonna be a hard one 😂
I love these one item eBay repairs!
Your videos are always interesting and informative! With all that knowledge, have you ever thought about making crash courses? I would love to see that!
I love tropic fix! He helps me learn more about devices and what is inside of them
The legend is back!!
Oh so that's how you put the LCD clip back on. Hopefully my ebay buyer can do the same. Great work!
Enjoyed the fix! Have you thought of some blooper reels?
Great job ive just bought one that needs a repair similar to this, i love fixing things absolutely hare wasting things, great fix
I genuinely purchased the iFixIt Pro Tech Tool Kit after having seen it in so many of your videos. It was a substantial upgrade to the one I had previously, and I can second it in saying that it is well worth the money.
So glad you bought one! They are amazing!
Mate I love your videos keep it up man
The layer you removed was polarised glass / or plexi. LCD normally is bright and invisible to the naked eye. Polarised glass or / plexi is used not only to make LCD viewable to the naked eye but also inverts the image. If you took a calculator with a standard LCD screen and took the top layer glass off you would not see the image well but turning the glass upside down would invert the image so you had a black background with light symbols apposed too the standard bright back ground and dark symbols we are all accustomed too. I did this to my calculators to make them look cool and different :)
Always great to watch. Yew 🤙🏼
Great video like always 😀👍
Thank you
Keep it up
838K!?! Congrats!
Another good one! Very interesting...great content.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice one. I can't remember seeing that before either. Very interesting.
I find your videos really amazing! I hoped there was any chance to send you a faulty ps3 that some pseudo-fixer damaged when I was a kid :( .. I’ll definitely try this summer to fix it tho. Big fan!
Wow this was a really interesting Video today. I think it would be even better with some footage of you repairing the connector pins but thats ok aswell ^^
I agree such great video due to how small it is being able to get an angle on it whiles repairing at the same time would be extremely difficult
you made my day again sir... 👍
Really makes you wonder what some of these items go through before they get to you. Sometimes it blows the mind.
Yay new switch video i love it!
Perfectly amount of thermal paste I love this videos
Ngl I was not planning to watch a whole video but it got so interesting real quick
Wow.. I love your vids, so informative
There great arent they?:D
Glad you like them!
I knew this video was going to have a happy ending!

Spoiler alert!!!
Would you be able to tell me why Tronics always makes a statement about the correct amount of thermal paste? Is it a joke or a commonly messed up step?
My favorite channel 🔧
Excellent work! God bless!
Another repair vid with the perfect amount of awesome.
Great video, do you see yourself doing another repair challenge series?
Maybe
Amazing video please keep the content up
Thanks! Will do!
Another rescue. Nice!
Amazing job 🖐️
Great detective work.
4:42 you look like a mad scientist trying to build something lol
Ha, ha, ha...true!
i can never do those things you do! such a pro!
All takes practice man you can do it believe in yourself
The perfect amount of thermal paste 😁
It’s a different satisfaction seeing this guy fixing stuff
Perfect amount of thermal.... 😁 Love it
I have the same problem.. Kinda. lol. Love your content... You Rock.
Great video as usual!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@Tronicsfix Thanks! Keep it up!
Nice job!
The layer that separated is the polarizer. It filters the LCD so you can see the image.
Was a doozee but ya fixed it it was very laid back vid no anxiety wondering if you will just scrap it
Was all !!! when I saw you breaking the turquoise screens glass, Then I remembered that it had separated from the rest of the screen.
Nice Fix!
I’ve seen that once before where the screen separated exposing the liquid crystal on a 2DSXL I was replacing the top screen. Fascinating but kinda messy haha.
