I’m shocked you didn’t think instantly that m92t36 chip would be part of the problem. It seems to be the problem in most faulty switches. I repaired one for my channel recently and it was one of the biggest repairs I’ve done, but i felt confident because of watching channels like yours constantly! Keep it up, very entertaining.
As the diode is right by a big inductor, my guess is that it is a schottky and is used as part of a buck regulator, so probably not too critical apart from needing to be able to handle the current.
Is it a "flyback/flywheel" diode? According to what i researched you can put a diode across a inductor and apparently its serves to reduce the ripple kinda the same purpose of the decoupling capacitors at the output of a buck converter. i'm a noob to board repair and electronics so i could be way wrong.
... and a diode in that circuit will show shorted even when it may not be. Both diode leads have to be tested off the circuit because of the inductor, little to no resistance in inductors.
Thank you that you also have more difficult repairs to diagnose many before the video and only show what is broken and exchange it. But the way is the goal!

Watching you do these repairs is interesting but my soldering skills are not very good. This is why I leave all my device repairs to the pros. I will solder speaker wires and such but that is it. Great Job.
Boss, do not apply pressure on the chip with the bottom pedestal chips. If you have applied Flux to the leg paths, it will be sufficient to put the chip in its socket and heat it at low speed and sufficient temperature. The chip will sit by itself. Touching each other is very common as there will be contact in the invisible place even if you apply pressure on the chip and apply flux. Because you are already renewing and inflating the solders. If you renew the solder with minimal cleaning then you can apply light pressure. This is my experience and opinion. Kind regards,
I have the same problem with my quadcopter's flight controller. The Schottky diode was shorted I removed it & no short on the FC. I'm not able to find that diode anywhere on the internet. I would love to see how you find the right components without donor boards.
I think many diode would work, Just figure out the forward voltage to see if it's a normal diode ( about 0.6V) or a schottky diode ( forward voltage 0.145 to 0.45 V), it should not make much difference. Unless it's a zener, the you need to figure out the reverse voltage, but the symbol on the board is not the Zener symbol.
I guess you can measure similar diode from the same switch lite. But I wonder how much is this repair. It took a lot of time but the switch lite is not that expensive.
I have same issue with Switch Lite. Some say that it could be GLZ6.8C others SMZ2568. Did someone try and successfully installed this part? Where to buy replacement? @NorthridgeFix any chance for update?
Being in repair for a short time myself, I simply do not believe anyone that says they didn't try to fix it at all. If it turns out to be true, great. More often than not it will have been tampered with. Now, that's ok! Fine. Just tell me. It makes the repair harder to pretend it's in factory condition as you hand it to me. Finally, I always wonder why we lie about the things we lie about. Ya know? Lmao Like, just tell me you tried fixing it. I respect people that want to fix things! Just tell me but even when it's blatant they'll look me in the eye and say they didn't (or anyone else). It's amazing.
I use a small kim wipe on the board, then I scrub with iso soaked qtip on top of that. Strings of cotton doesn't snag on the components, its not abrasive on delicate pads, and the wipe absorbs the dissolved flux very well. Without just pushing the flux it around and having it flow all over the board. Then move to a clean section of the wipe if there is a lot of flux to absorb.
May I know what machine you're using to test in this video,I just saw a black tools long stick with sound to to to when you're checking the short circuit ?
@@omaribrahim2736 its confusing because a circuit should generally be a loop and we dont get to see where hes placing the second probe, since only one shows up on camera.

Go to the power IC’s data sheet and look at some of the reference designs to see what shottky diode they are using. Then match the specs of that diode to to a shottky diode that matches your pcb footprint.
Hello, thank you very much for your video. What is the setting power for desoldering an "IC" component. How much do you regulate the air flow and temperature? I cannot remove the M92T36 component. Sorry for my English. It's a translation, I'm French.

I usually clean it very thorough, although that is not risk free either, especially with iphone boards. Tube says _no-clean_ flux - does anyone leave it on?
