Imperfections are where humanity is. Imperfect is real. The flaws of things give those things character. When I started painting, I learned to look at an object over and over. Ive been creating my own content on TikTok daily (some of it gets uploaded to RUclips but I'm still honing my craft). One thing that helped me a lot to get out of my head about my content and jumping into action that so much more authentic is a simple phrase I put next to my computer so I can see it every day. I live by the motto " Do What You Want Be What You Are" It's a 70's song from Hall & Oates but it really says alot. Just do what you want....just be what you are. It simplifies things for me when my head is running away wondering all the things that slow us down. The do what you want part is easier. Being what you are is more difficult especially if you have not been living as your authentic self, you will lose people when you start.
My goodness…attractive and informative! Fun fact…the same part of the brain that controls anxiety ALSO controls gratitude. It is impossible to be anxious while gracious. “Progress not perfection” This is a great video, I found the way you described the problems of perfectionism really helpful. I need to remind myself of some of those hard truths when I feel myself sliding into old bad habits! I think the way you embody what you’re teaching comes across and it adds much more power to your content. I definitely noticed the ❤❤ energy - thanks Clarke!
"Done is better than perfect, because perfect never gets done". Such a mind blowing quote, I love it! And you cannot be more right when saying that overthinking IS attachment! For real, this video was so eye opening and liberating for me. I've been struggling with perfectionism for almost all my life, not because I don't believe in my self worth that much, but because I have been constantly judged so much from my family environment that I always struggle to keep up with all the expectations that others are having from me and, most of the times, I end up doing almost nothing or the bare minimum and I end up being even more judged about me being inactive. I will consider using this quote as my arguing point and I will keep trying my best to detach myself from this whole thing, because it's a horrid life to live. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, may God be constantly laying His blessings before your feet ❤
Overthinking can grow to become a problem but it can help you understand things about yourself and others around you that you wouldn't have caught unless you stop and think about them. Its about finding a balance.
On over-preparing, takes the human-ness out of performance or product. "People do not care about how much time and thought youve put into something, they care about the results, and the product."
Hello, Clark. I just wanted to thank you for this video. I'm in Málaga, Spain at the moment and will start a teaching job in Sevilla in September. I'm worrying about silly things: the fact I'm not working at the moment, even though I have enough money to last me for a few months. But the biggest thing has been my creative front: I haven't written a song in YEARS barely written a story or worked on my writing projects in almost a year and feel creatively drained. I realized it's my mind. I'm 39 and going through a huge life change and your video made me realize that I need to be more present, work on myself and take action. Your videos really do impact and help people. Thank you! ❤
I like the 'be where your feet are' tip, whereby, if you start to overthink/get overwhelmed, take a moment and focus on where your feet are, I get myself to say what I see right in front of me like 'my feet are on the pavement, there are green trees around me, I'm walking the dog, the birds are singing' and it helps bring me back to the present moment.
Thank you for addressing the often-overlooked issue of overthinking with humor and insight. Your practical methods offer a lifeline to those caught in the cycle of unnecessary worry.
Thank you for helping me out today, as I am a single mom I always thought I wanted to do a lot of things in one day. Start right now by not being perfect in everything just slow down step by step. understood what I stand for.
i feel like just trying to live in the moment helps and understanding that when ur overthinking something ur not living in the present and u just assume it will go bad when u haven’t even tried. i do lash extentions and for the longest time i would cancel or reschedule ppl because of my anxiety of thinking about the day coming and feeling like everything will go wrong when i truly won’t know unless i do it. there was one client i had that i was having super bad anxiety about but i pushed myself anyways to do it cuz i know it’s the only way i’ll get over my anxiety and overthinking and it ended up being the most gorgeous lash set ever and it gave me such a good feeling once i was done and motivated me more. i feel like u just have to do things without letting ur overthinking / anxiety control u as much as it’s easy to let it control u ❤
basically action is the best way to overcome these things. don’t listen to ur anxiety and bad thoughts because they can keep u out of good situations that can help u grow. i truly believe action is the way to go even if it’s taking small steps each day
One thing I find helps my nervous system when I'm worked up about what other people will think of my work is to remember that the reason we care about what other people think is that we're a social species and that for our ancient ancestors being rejected from the tribe could literally mean death. So it's understandable that we are programmed to worry about rejection BUT we don't live in that world and rejection DOESN'T (generally) mean death anymore. We can reassure ourselves that rejection is a lot safer than it used to be, even if our nervous systems haven't fully caught up to that fact, and we can do that without getting mad at our nervous system for trying to protect us from what it sees as a genuine threat to our existence. Sometimes we just have to - lovingly - parent our own nervous system.
Great advice, Clark. I burn sage, and incense. Listen to spa music, and guided mediations. All these help. But, if I don’t stay consciously aware of my thoughts I catch myself overthinking again.
Me and my grandpa started going to the driving range every week to shoot golf balls. The first time, I used a right handed club and then I practiced with a left handed club the next week. A key takeaway from this is I would do a lot of practice swings. And every time I would try to make sure I made a good shot, I would do these practice swings and funny enough they got worse every time before I made the actual shot, then I would either miss or it would be a weak swing. Then I sort of let my body go and I would just take the shot. And every time I did this, my ball would fly further and further. And this ties into a lot of aspects of my life such as school. I would start crushing tests and doing extremely well when I learned how to live in the present moment and letting go of all connections to the past, future, and what I would do by overcomplicating it.
It may not be a great reason why I am here to watch your video, but besides helping me out on my overthinking righr now, your tips just had me realising, what held me back at doing all the cool stuff I used to do. The quote "Done is better than perfect, because perfect will never be done" ist very important and it might be my mantra for the future, because it was always my excuse to say "I'm a perfectionist and that's why I don't even try" Thank's for the helpful advices and as much as you value my time, I value your work, you put into the video, because I absolutely got something out of it, that made my day and I was glad, that I spend the time to listen to you. By the way, your voice is very beautiful and soothing!
Finish the one thought. Complete the whole journey of that thought. Instead of jumping from one to the next. Sometimes when Im done with just the one... all else has faded. - i am doing a project in school on sustainable higher frequency and found your channel - absolutely love you and your grounded take on concepts. I've watched maybe 6 videos till now... and have so much to reply, and so much gratitude... yesterday i started my channel, and it is as you say - cringe jaja... BUT - I took action 🎬 and all will be revealed in time. Thank you 😊
That was really helpful. I'm guilty of all those things. Knowing that more information is not the answer to overthinking something is a revelation thank you 🙏🏻
Momentum = “just get started”, or “a thousand mile journey starts with the first step… just do one step”. Also, “don’t be afraid to fail” is another one, because if you don’t try things or to get better, you’ll never go anywhere.
I find ‘dont be afraid’ to be a nonstarter, personally. Its very hard to reason yourself out of fear and easy to blame yourself for failing to not be afraid. ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway’ may be a better angle, for some.
This is really great advice. I will definitely put these in action. Thanks for posting these videos. I’m not really religious, but when I’m feeling anxious I have to stop and tell myself to “Give it to God”. This really helps me slow down and gives me a feeling of I’m not alone. I also look at the root word of Worry, which means to strangle. I worry a lot, translates to, I’m strangling my thoughts.
You are right, Clark,I have been following these RUclipsr's for too long trying to forehand a solution and the result has been just" anticipating anxiety when we just must start from the beginning of things and thus get to progress, which must be the aim. Thank you. Well done.
I've been up all night planning and brainstorming about how to change my life, and I'm about to binge watch your videos because they ARE so VALUABLE. Your videos are so helpful and you are a godsend. I appreciate how much time and energy you put into them because I believe this channel is one of the best self help channels on RUclips. Thank you! 😊❤
I have never really prepared much for any type of interview (even jobs) and when it works, it works. It just flows and works out. If it doesn’t, it just isn’t a great fit. 😊
Gonna be honest, I don't watch you often, and you don't come up on my main page often either. This was my first video today. I take that as a sign. Overthinking has been my major block lately. Thank you for this video I needed it.
i'm always overthinking if i'm an overthinker (oh I am!); the overthinking is definitely impeding my letting go of someone - ugh. thanks as always for your tips/advice! action here i come!
I think just reconnecting to your own energy is helpful. You have to constantly realign yourself to your best version. Also recognizing you’re always safe is a good way to bring you back to calm.
It helped when I made me believe that I am good enough even if im not doing "perfect". I find myself taking more action, less afraid of disapointment. Life got aaaaa lot lighter 😊
Great video mate, very true. For me, sometimes, just telling my brain to Shush out loud works. Sometimes your thoughts are not your own, they are just thoughts passing. Shush.
When I catch myself overthinking I make a decision. If it's something I can resolve, I move forward and resolve it. If it's something I cannot resolve I consider what I learned and force myself to move on by focusing on my current environment. Staying aware of my current situation is ideal. Dwelling on something you cannot change or "fix" takes away from your current life.
Just stumbled on this video and was pleasantly surprised! Thank you for being “real” and putting out content that’s from the heart. It really helped me today!! ☺️
Sometimes I just like watch this weird feeling inside of me of anxiety and it’s there for no reason at all, just sitting there, like nails on a chalkboard in my mind
Needed this so much!!! Thank you! I loved what you said at the end, and it makes sense because I find myself trying to watch other people’s videos and even though they’ve provided a ton of “information” I don’t always feel that I’ve gained as much value as when I watch your videos. Your content definitely comes from the heart. Thx for creating!❤ much love
Thanks for the video Clark! Amazing content :) One of the things I've learned from overthinking is that you need to focus on the things you can realistically do. We stress ourselves out on things we don't even have control of. Focus on what you have in hands, take a realistic approach, and, as Clark said, keep it slow and go one step at a time.

You can do those things without overthinking.
Thank you! ❤
It's crazy that in all of your examples, you're describing my mind and EXACTLY why haven't been able to start.
I love this! Seriously never thought of my “chronic anxiety” as overthinking. Definitely taking your tips and taking some action. ❤
Action speaks louder than words is a true statement
Actions are far more valuable than plans
The quote "Done is better than perfect, because perfect will never be done" ist very important and it might be my mantra for the future, because it was always my excuse to say "I'm a perfectionist and that's why I don't even try"
Thank's for the helpful advices and as much as you value my time, I value your work, you put into the video, because I absolutely got something out of it, that made my day and I was glad, that I spend the time to listen to you.
Thank you 😊
Someone once gave me this advice... Don't think about it, just do it. This is best advice I was given for worrying and overthinking about things.
Pray to God .... three words .... a life lesson for me ❤
Amen! Sending 💛
That's the same thing as saying snort a line of cocaine or drink another beer. 😢
That was really helpful. I'm guilty of all those things. Knowing that more information is not the answer to overthinking something is a revelation thank you 🙏🏻
Call someone, ask them how they're doing, & (really) listen. Repeat until you (and many others) feel better! It works every time.
Best most helpful video. Never thought about momentum but i often say if i can just get to my desk. Then i realize I’ve worked 4 hours.
You made so many good points. I overthink often and I have found that several of the strategies that you’ve listed work very well for me.
You are right, Clark,I have been following these RUclipsr's for too long trying to forehand a solution and the result has been just" anticipating anxiety when we just must start from the beginning of things and thus get to progress, which must be the aim. Thank you. Well done.
What has helped me as I have turned 30 is not mindset, but body-set. Or action. Ignore your kind and follow your body
This is the video I needed, and it's when I needed it.
Thanks Clark for your inspirational words!! You tell us to balance the fire and water, sometimes being fast and sometimes allow to be slow. 💖✨
Dude thank you so much for this video! I was literally sitting here over thinking and this video played at the right moment! THANK YOU
I've been up all night planning and brainstorming about how to change my life, and I'm about to binge watch your videos because they ARE so VALUABLE. Your videos are so helpful and you are a godsend. I appreciate how much time and energy you put into them because I believe this channel is one of the best self help channels on RUclips. Thank you! 😊❤
“Who cares if they don’t like you, do you like you?” That’s what helps me to stop overthinking how others view me
I forgot who said this, and I am not sure if it applies but I’ll share it anyways.
“Comfort is the enemy of success”
I have never really prepared much for any type of interview (even jobs) and when it works, it works. It just flows and works out. If it doesn’t, it just isn’t a great fit. 😊
When I see you i feel confident
Doubt is the root of communication disruption.
Start before you’re ready!!
IT foes to your point of ACTION. You’ll figure it out and redirect along the way, but the trick is to START.
Living in the moment and accepting yourself for who you are is what really helps as well I find ❤️ thank you for this video!!
Dude I needed this in the worst way thank you!!!
Sometimes I just like watch this weird feeling inside of me of anxiety and it’s there for no reason at all, just sitting there, like nails on a chalkboard in my mind
Draw the attention to anything I am doing and have a look if there is any underlying emotion causing the rush of thoughts (there is always one) 💡✨
Acknowledge that I am overthinking and massive action (just moving my body is enough at start). Thank you ❤
Your life grows to the extent that you do!
Thinking will not overcome fear but action will.

Thanks for the video Clark! Amazing content :)
One of the things I've learned from overthinking is that you need to focus on the things you can realistically do.
We stress ourselves out on things we don't even have control of.
Focus on what you have in hands, take a realistic approach, and, as Clark said, keep it slow and go one step at a time.
Exactly have a drink and then you don’t think about it anymore. But alcohol is only a short term fix. Yes go for a walk being in the moment and breath work is awesome. Thanks ❤
This...THIS...video has helped me so much! Thank you. It's actually helping with my anxiety.
This video is so on point for me right now. I struggle with perfectionism and am also quite critical.
I've watched your channel grow and I'd love the recent content you've been making more than ever. Thank you
