It’s like a leg press stance
I do it that way sometimes and it is much more comfortable to do
I’m 6’8” 300 lbs and can deadlift any style but that wider than conventional but not sumo feels like a leg press. It’s interesting. You need a ton of lat strength too because you’re getting closer to a snatch grip pull but not quite there either. Having a bit tummy forces you to change things up a bit.

Straps reduce the range of motion by allowing the bar to slip down to the second knuckle (figure 8 can even allow the bar to drop to the fingertips).
The rules and judging are waaaayy more forgiving in strongman (hitching is allowed, suits are allowed sometimes, straps as discussed, some lockouts are questionable, such as Eddie's 500 which he never fully locked out).
All of these tend to reduce the work done at a similar weight.

Bigger in height, of course, those two. Thor is a slightly better deadlifter than Eddie. Eddie is a better deadlifter than Shaw. Eddie is a better presser than Shaw and Thor, overhead press and bench, Eddie is stronger on those.
