For those of you wondering why Ctrl + shift + T at minute 7:26 , it's because in the new version you have to set it up manually. Go to the add-ons and search for "Node Wrangler" and enable it. Now the command should work ^^
I'm really late in seeing this but I love it when people make comprehensive tutorials, it's perfect for the skill level that's required to use it. Rock on 🎉
I've never found a tutorial that is as easy to understand, useful, and accurate as those produced by The CG Essentials. Thanks for saving me time and for sparing me from unnecessary grief! You're amazing!!!
I know this video has been up for a year but I needed to start somewhere. So, I decided to save your vids to a playlist so I can binge-watch all of your videos to learn about Blender. Thank you for posting your knowledge
I love the energy of your tutorial by the way. It's very welcoming and friendly. Keep up the good work. You earned another subscriber. You can also use the "Leaf Object" drop down to add your own leaf shape to the tree. For instance, if you wanted to use "Images as Planes" to get a cool looking leaf texture to add to your tree.
While it may have been an error, that tubular tree actually gave me an idea! Going to have to play around with this feature. Didn't even know it was a thing as I'm very new to Blender. Stayed away from 3D for many years but now I'm looking on how I can incorporate it into my artwork. Thank you very much for the tutorial!
Thank you, good resource! Didn't expect finding it. Needing only a single simple tree today, this is a huge time saver, and then some! It is happily appreciated. I will learn more. Thanks!
I'm creating a game that takes place in my neighborhood and uses real video footage of pathways, buildings, etc. And it also uses 3D and 2D game engine elements (BabylonJs and Construct 3). I kept thinking that I wanted to do fairly realistic top-down "drone" footage of the area without using a real drone, and started creating a cityscape and landscape using BlenderGIS and the built-in Blender-OSM addons--all working beyond my expectations. The only thing that was missing was realistic trees and bushes. Using your tutorial, I started adding a few pine trees, and I can't believe how much it breathes life into the scene. Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for the lessons mate! You have a lot of interesting content on this channel, presented in a very clear way. You are doing a great job sharing knowledge to beginners like me!
Really useful and well explained. It is just unfortunate that cannot recover the Tree Creation, Editing Menu, after deselecting the Object, as would be nice to change tress after seeing textures etc.
im surprised for the addon called tree gen, and i dint know it exist, i was struglling making my own tree, by doing a lots of thing. but this addon helps me.
hey do you have any idea of how i could convert it back to a curve because id like to keep the armature animation thing intact, I'm just looking for a way to uv unwrap the tree without removing the animations
Fantastic, I bought a tree for $7 but found it had too many verts, my computer couldn't handle creating a forest scene with the geometry nodes. Using this will give me a better result with realistic leaves for free.
Thanks! This helps me to understand this add-on a little better. For now, I have a flat-shaded simple tree. I can experiment with textures/displacements another time, but it's got me started at least. ^_^
It seems to be a really powerful tool. From what I can see when I played around with it a while ago, it will generate bushes and even grass stalks and smaller plants. My experience was it is too general. When all you want to do is generate trees...it takes a lot of fiddling to get trees and not something that looks like a tree-sized bush. It might just be the interface and my skill level with it. But I would rather the default model looked like a tree or a bush or a plant, rather than the love child of all three and then making you define it in sliders. Also would have liked to see it be better at generating logs and stumps but that might be too much to ask. For me, any real forest should have all different life cycles of trees in it. It would also make sense to include some material libraries in it, eventually.
can you make a video about making revit tree family from blender? Blender geometry to DXF then import to revit, but I lost the material in this process.
I had no problems with the leaves, but when I do the Ctr +Shift+T on the tree trunk for the bark I get an error No Matching Images Found. I'm not able to convert Mesh to Curve as it only states Convert to Mesh. Any ideas?
leaves end up black I had it one time was messing with the uv map. Then I wanted to change the tree, so I had to delete it. Then every time after that the leaves be black after adding the shaders and uv map is gone.
is it possible to do something like a bonsai/ niwaki trees with the sapling tree gen? i tried fiddling with the sliders but cant seem to make the trunk curve and/or prune properly
theres a million videos about this add on but none show how the animation works and how you save it to the model, isnt there a way to bake it to the model?

When I click Control + shift + T, nothing comes out. how can i fix this?
Does anyone know how to select the tree itself, without the leaves? I'm trying to select it but even with it highlighted, I can't see it on the UV editing area.
it was not clear with leaves texture. we got several kind of leaves forms and colors in color texture, how to make them all different? how to adjust geometry in everyone?
I wouldn't try to make every single leaf difference - what would the purpose be? You could select some of the leaves and change their UV mapping separately if you really wanted to I guess
@@TheCGEssentials i think it would add a lot of variation and realism to have the leaves be slightly different shades of green. I had planned on making a procedural texture with a color ramp but am unsure on how to feed it each individual leaf :/

Thank bro continue to do the good work ❤
Helpful. Thanks!
THX, 10:28: expect that bark texture structure (black strips) is vertical instead of horizontal
Well that's the great thing about this add on - with the UV mapping, it's easy to make that change :)

Thank you!
This was a very helpful tutorial! THANK YOU!!!🙌🏻🔥🔥🔥
Great tutorial, thanks a lot!
A nice tutorial would be exporting an animated tree in UE4 and have it animated there. Anyone any hint? Thx!
Reeeeally nice add and explanation, thanks a bunch!
you are a legend

How did you make different colors for the trunk and leaves?

Sorry if i missed, is this bundled with blender? Great video btw
Yep
How to convert leaves for mesh??
I do not understand! TY
Awsome! Is there any tutorial about creating movement to the trees?
is it possible to create a forest with this using array? thanks
nice tutorial, thanks

Excellent!
Great tuto thanks
Glad it was helpful!
It looks very handy. But I think leaves would look better when we add them as volumes (when we need a low poly tree)
Great videos for Blender - concise, to the point! Good stuff! You should have more subs my friend - stay with it!
Thank you! :)

how can i import or disribute properly leaves dont come with trees when i try. i m trying to create some forest

how back to settings is I for example make too small leaf and want resisze?

could you help me? i dont have a covert to: mesh from curve /meta/surf/Text
Would it be more practical to use a particle system for the leaves to save on geometry being rendered in the view port?
I don't think so - wouldn't it be better to just turn off the leaf groups in the viewport?
nice explain
thanks you veeeeery much
